After 22 years of life, I have just successfully dutch braided my hair for the first time!

I just recently discovered how to do Dutch braids on my own head, and man. I gotta say, it sure gives my arms a work out every time I do it! hahah Trying to remember to go under instead of over like the French braid has taken some practice!

Good for you. I've never gotten how to do either.

OH MY GOSH!!! Im a 41 yr old mum who can french braid my 7 yr old daughter's hair but never my own. Ive watched SO many tutorials and never could get it. And i just followed yours and now i have a dutch braid IN MY OWN HAIR!!! Thank you so so much! The first step of leaving some hair out at the start is so helpful!! Now to practice since its not the neatest ha ha ....
@sisterclp6 жыл бұрын
The first tip is the key. Not looking into the mirror anymore really unlocked it for me. I also practiced a lot - on the bus, while watching a series,... your hands will get used to it eventually.

I HAVE TRIED FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG TO TRY AND FRENCH BRAID AND I SUCCESSFULLY HAVE DONE IT!!! i literally ran out of my room and asked my mom if i actually did it because I've never been able to, thank you sooooo much for this video now i can stop asking people to do it for me.

I have watched many French/Dutch braiding tutorials in my life, but only after watching yours have I ever successfully French braided my own hair. 6 hours later, and nothing has fallen out of place! Success! Thank you for the clear steps!

Pretty sure I learned from the first video as well...but I find Dutch braids so much easier; it's the way that feels natural for me. I have to think extra hard to do a French braid and it's never as tight...the tip to think about it as tucking the center strand under will probably help me, because "under" feels better for me. 100% agree with "no looking"...my braids turn out so much better when I just do it by feel. You overthink when you look.

hey! loepsie, you know what thankyou sooo much my schools were reopening and i always wanted to do a french braid and you are the one who taught me this....... i can finally have a new hairstyle to school rather than having a plain boring braid, with love from your new subscriber :D

I love this video. Thank you so much for this new version. I watched the original, and it seemed a bit confusing from what I recall. Now all I need to do is practice and build up the braiding muscles in my arms. I feel the burn every time I try to braid my hair. Haha! But, you really are an excellent teacher. It takes a special gift to teach, to give directions that are easy to understand and pleasant to listen to. Thank you for sharing!

My hair kind of bunches together making it hard to separate, any tips on how to manage that?
@calliem8724 жыл бұрын
Brush it well beforehand. Make sure you run you fingers down the whole of the length with each add-in, do it gently and don't pull it, if it gets tighter just kind of work it down and out. This is what I do for mine.

Two things I need to work on. My center section wants to be smaller than the outsides to start. Take off my rings! They always get in the way. I “forget” them because I don’t take them off often. Thank you for the clear instructions and the suggestions.

Muscle memory will take over guys! I started randomly braiding without a mirror when I wasn’t home (I really dislike putting my hair up into a bun/pont tail. I just have SO MUCH hair that’ll it look super bulky) and the first few times were rough. After some practice though it honestly became a habit and you don’t even have to think about it.

I find dutch braiding easier than french braid. I didn't realize I've been doing dutch until a few years ago haha. French braid is difficult for me cause it just feels weird for it to go over instead of under like dutch braid. Imo, I prefer the look of french braids, but its difficult for me to do than dutch braid.>.

Could you do a side dutch braid like Daenerys Targaryen Style .. some call it boxer braids. I want to do it.. but i just started .. i found ist sometimes to fast explained on other channels and it is absolutly a mess doing it with Long hair which is more dry and not so easy to braid.. specially if someone has not so straight Beautiful hair which is not thick and not easy to fix. (Even if you use lots of different oils and conditioner to make it more silky) Thank you for the Basics ! I love your way of showing Things... it makes it easy to follow... even if i have to press stop.. cause of Fixing this and that.. cause i am a snail in learing hairstyles.. .. it took me Hours to learn this and that… and i still have to learn a lot. your Videos are helpful!

Tldr: movies. Was wondering the same thing and it's not clear why those names stuck, might have to do with film for the French braid and as for the Dutch braid it seems linked to the novel Hedi, though I imagine it's more to do with the movie versions again.
