I am a cishet man and Utena is my favorite anime. It's so beautiful, funny, tragic, meaningful, exploratory, so respectful of its audience, so rewarding to rewatch. I can only imagine how much better it is for the women and the queer community, who can more directly relate to the themes and experiences present in the show.
