My favorite thing of this film is when Wolverine is introduced in the First X-Men movie it was about helping a girl get to a better place (Rogue) and his end is about helping a girl get to a better place (X23)

Patrick Stewart's performance hits so much harder if you've had a relative in that condition. My grandmother had Alzheimer's and Xavier's behavior reminded me so much of her, every scene with him was gut wrenching. And Hugh Jackman really captures how taking care of someone with dementia can affect the caregiver. You can just feel how emotionally draining and wearying that experience is. Dafne Keen was amazing too. That "daddy" line, holy crap. It's especially poignant when you realize that could be the first time she's said that word since she was raised in a lab and treated like an object all her life.

I only teared up a little bit when I saw it the first time opening night, but the second time I saw it, the thought came to mind that the professor is pretty much the closet thing Logan has to a father, so when it came to the scene where he's got the shovel....I literally broke down balling...I was thinking" this poor bastard has been through hell, but he's been tough because he's wolverine..but this moment....this broke him" ...F#@$ing beautiful!!!!!..... I've been waiting for a wolverine film like this since I bought that first wolverine comic in a gas station in third grade.....20th Century Fox WELL DONE!!!!!!!

I definitely find Logan to be better than The Dark Knight. TDK is like a cool, slick cop drama with a very interesting performance from the main villain, but to me it always felt like it lacked an ability to make me invested in the main character. He was just kind of there to pull the story along. In Logan I fucking care about everybody.

Logan may be a better move in the sense that it's more compelling, but when I think of which blew my mind more it was the Dark Knight - not so much because of the journey, but because of certain images that to me became instantly iconic and imprinted on my mind - like Joker riding in the back of the stolen cop car as the sound fades, batman smashing through the roof of Scarecrow's car, the Joker threatening Racheal with the knife, the truck flipping. The soundtrack also I can still hear in my mind. The Dark Knight kind of reminds me of 2001 or ClockWork Orange in that way, these movies plots are great, but they are classics because of those iconic images that stay with you for years and continue to inspire you.

The original X-Men movie came out in 2000, 18 years ago. If you were 14 when you saw that you are 32 now, the studios should understand that the people who grew up watching these characters (and the comic book fans as well of course) are old enough that an adult story appeals to them. Logan was perfect. I saw it in theaters twice and I've seen it a few times more after that. So good that just rewatching a trailer for it will get me close to tears because I remember the emotion from watching it.

They did put the part about Charles killing the X-men in the movie, or the hinted at it. It was a news report they were watching. The reporter says, likening what happened in Las Vegas to Connecticut, that however many years ago that attack killed several members of the... and Logan turns it off. Then Charles' speech before the clone kills him is about how he remembers some of it and he understands why Logan hates him not. It was implied so hard that it can be taken as canon.

As a fan of Wolverine since 1988 (high school - when I really started reading comics), I loved what Hugh Jackman did as the character and Logan was an amazing send off for his version of Wolverine. As you two have said, they will make more X-Men and Wolverine movies, but his 17 year run was truly wonderful.

Logan was an excellent ending to Hugh Jackman playing the character. For me it's probably the most memorable superhero film since The Dark Knight and is definitely a wildcard when compared to other X-men films. Hopefully the studios now understand whether the film is rated R or PG-13 we'll go see it as long as it's a great story.

Here's my thought on Logan, they could've taken the whole 'superhero' elements with the powers and made it a story of this tough, loner guy, taking care of an old man that was like a father to him but he could never really show it, and discovering he has a daughter...and it would still be an amazing movie. It was just this amazing movie that happened to have Wolverine and X-men powers but the plot just blew it away and I can't wait to see it a second time.

Dafne Keen, Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman all had borderline nomination performances. Whether they get the nomination or not will probably depend on what their competition ends up being. If this year doesn't provide a ton of great acting performances, I can definitely see 1 or 2 of these guys getting a nod. I hope. Movie was badass and needs recognition.

Hi guy's, I'm OCD with symmetry and numbers. Gotten past touching everything with both hands; now I just count words I hear and break down their syllables and find the symmetry in the syllables. So when I watch action movies for the first time I count the number of action scenes. But in this one I had to count the number of times I cried. Six, six times. The action was what got you to stop crying through the movie. Might be the best movie ever...

The answer about Dougray Scott was neither scheduling NOR a bad screen test. He injured himself on M:I2, and couldn't do it because his arm was in a cast. Hard to do claws in the forearms that way. Also, where WAS a concern about the height of Hugh Jackman, but the original issue was that he was Australian, and the ghost of "Pryde of the X-Men" was still out there.

I think the best way to reintroduce Logan back to the screen with a new actor would be to make a Secret Wars movie. We already have a majority of established characters, and room to introduce more. I would have James Mangold direct, then have Stephen McFeely , and Mark Bomback do the screenplay, and use Jim Shooter to oversea the fine tuning of details. I think that would be epic

They really knocked it out of the park with this one, I would have liked Logan and Charles to get a Vito Corleone moment and have some resemblance of peace just for a short period of time. Xavier was for sure responsible for the deaths of the X-Men. The news clip after his seizure in Las Vegas trails off after mentioning 7 dead mutants at the "Westchester Incident". Also, as he opens up to x-24 who he thinks is Logan he mentions not deserving the perfect day and starts to emotionally breakdown as he begins to say that he remembers what happened and the pain he caused....so dark...so good...

You said something about the "Westchester incident." I've now seen the movie twice and there's definitely a subtle nod to the fact that Professor X killed the X-Men. They say something on the radio that's cut off. the dialogue is something like "Several dead including 24 members of the....." then it trails off.

True that...Dude I cried at the end, and then I had to go to work, and I was funky the rest of the day. And really, his last words "So this is what it feel like" ....F'n BALLS! And gawd ...GAWD... DAMN....if Patrick Stewart doesn't deserve an Oscar Nod

I don't think anyone made a reference to the old X-men because Logan didn't want to risk sparking a memory in Dr Xavier about how he was responsible for their deaths. They did hint at his being responsible for their deaths just before X24 kills him. He says he remembers what happened at the school. I think Logan was trying his best to protect Xavier from that horrific memory.

Logan and Xavier were talking about the incident and Logan cuts him short before he can actually say in words that he killed the other X-men, but he basically says it.

At the end, after what Logan did. I heard in my head Colossus speech to Deadpool about what means to hero, those 4 or 5 moments.

I thought it was obviously implied that Xavier killed the X-Men. It was an adaptation of Old Man Logan, except instead of Wolverine being the one, Professor X is the one who accidentally kills the X-Men.

Good review, but as a fellow comic book geek, when you brought up the inevitable reboot of Wolverine, I'm surprised you don't bring up the possibility that X-23 becomes the new Wolverine. I would love that, as Dafne Keen was awesome in Logan and I would love to see her put on the yellow spandex, as the character does in the comics.

Kevin keeps talking about how he wants an R-rated Batman movie, but he complained about how violent Batman was in BvS. Make up your mind, Kev.

Batman can have a hard R rated movie without him resorting to cannons to mow down badguys. Show him breaking bones and a more gritty street feel with Batman taking down a drug ring ran by one of the villains from his rogues gallery. The complaint was him murdering casually when he mostly tries to avoid doing that.

After the Casino scene on the radio the voice talks about the 'incident.' First he states a number of injured, then he clearly says 7 died. It cuts out right as he's saying the 'X-men.' Though he never gets the actual words out. But 7 dead. Storm, Cyc, Beast, Jean, Iceman, Colossus, Rogue. The X-men...dead :(

You don't need a new Wolverine. You have X23. End credit scene of Deadpool 2. Cable grabs X23 from future and brings her to the current X-Men timeline; whatever decade they are in now.
