Bill and Lady are not only extremely well-trained, that is obedient, they also seem to understand what is required in any respective situation. Having had and worked with horses for 58 years I can't emphasize enough how good a team these two really are.

Enjoyed as always. As always, it brings back memories of Grandpa working his wooded acreage behind his farm. He was thin and wiry like Jim, but only 5' tall, and he got shorter as he aged (as we all do). He was a hard worker, as Jim is. I truly am grateful for the memories you bring to my mind. May God bless you!

A couple of saw mill questions:1) how do you square the second side to the first when you are setting up your logs on the mill? 2) how do you dispose of all the sawdust? Thanks for all your videos, they are all very interesting.

Not sure what you are asking in the first question. The sawdust is used for bedding.

I like your saw mill videos. Very interesting how you plan the cuts. Maybe in future could you go into more detail on your determination what cuts to make to get most out of the log. Do you use slab wood scraps in your wood fired house furnace? Or is there another use for the scraps? Take care.

Will keep that in mind, thanks for the suggestion. The slab wood is used in the outdoor furnace to heat the house when needed, heat the hot water and heat the kiln

What are your thoughts about a battery chainsaw for use in the mill? Watching the extra work of starting a petrol model only to make a small cut of trimmings makes me wonder. Battery tools are ultra-convenient for the now and future for inside/under cover work.

After you cut down your logs, you drag them down the path, then load them on the cart. But I didn't notice you cleaning the dirt/mud off the log before you sawed it. Won't that affect the sharpness of you saw blade?
