Kenny Loggins wrote this song when he was a senior in high school as a gift for his brother, Danny. Danny had just become a father.

Kenny Loggins songs "I'm Alright" (from Caddyshack), "Footloose" (from Footloose), and "Celebrate Me Home". He sang "Don't Fight It" (w/Steve Perry). With Stevie Nicks "Whenever I Call You Friend". And with Michael McDonald "This Is It".

Back when this song came out, my then wife and her best friend would sing this on camping trips. They weren't Loggins and Messina, but they did it justice.

This was an anthem for my wife and I back in the 70s and when our first son was born. We were in college and I was $75 a week and we lived in WWII quonst hut converted into married student hut. Rent was $45 a month. It will be 48 years in August.

Loggins and Messina are so much more than their relatively few" hits" would make you think. Fans who have explored their larger catalogue, will find a large and immensely talented band, complex music, written by them.

A total classic and the first song that I remember they were recognized by me. Still one of many favorites. They had many great songs and Kenny had even more as a solo artist. I loved it all.Other fantastic songs by them are Vahevala and Angry Eyes!

Kenny Loggins is one of the best male vocalists around. Back in the 80’s, he had some awesome solo albums come out and I wore out my vinyl copies. The best songs, in my opinion, were the deep dives that weren’t played on the radio. That said, I highly recommend Celebrate Me Home, which was a popular song back then, and his unique singing style really shines through.

My favorite L&M song is "Your Mama Don't Dance (and Your Daddy Don't Rock'n'Roll)". Rocking tempo and funny, too.

Kenny does a real nice soulful vocal with The Benoit/Freeman Project which fits a smooth jazz genre. The song is “When She Believed In Me”

This song was big during my senior year in high school. Also, James Taylor's Fire and Rain was on the radio a lot back then.❤❤

Could you please react to Canadian singer Anne Murray’s version of this song. Her version was in the top 10 of 3 major billboard charts in 1973.

saw jim 2 summers ago at the worthington golf club in the western mass. berkshire hills - without kenny of course. his band was set up in front of the 9th green with the crowd in the fairway in lawn chairs. perfect 75 degree june night - on my birthday. he played all of L+M songs including 'angry eyes' and to my delight some from his amazing earlier band POCO. ' you better think twice' was the highlight of the night for me as it is my favorite song by them. they nailed it.

Love this duo from the 70's. Had their albums. They had a lot of great songs such as "House At Pooh Corner", "Your Mama Don't Dance", "Thinking Of You", "My Music", "Angry Eyes", "Watching The River Run", "Vahevala", "Lahaina", "Sailin' The Wind", "Pathway To Glory" etc. "Danny's Song" was written by Kenny Loggins as a gift for his brother Danny for the birth of his son Colin. Anne Murray also had a hit version of this song in 1972.

When music elevated you, what a time. We knew we had great music back then but we didn't realize how special it would be in the annals of historical eras of music. If there aren't 50,000 great songs from the 50's, 60's, and 70's that people would playlist today, I'd be surprised.

Nice to see you enjoy 1st listen to "Danny's Song" from Loggins & Messina's "Sittin' In". This debut is one of my faves of the '70s. While first side is classic. Try the opener, "Nobody but You" and the closer on the. Side "Trilogy" is amazing. That's skipping "Vahevalla" + "Danny's Song". Saw them live in '73 and they put on a great show, Jim Croce opened.

You should pair up and listen to Watching The River Run and Thinking Of You, together. They're both relatively short, totaling just under 6 minutes if played consecutively, and they offer a nice contrast between the different stylings of Loggins & Messina. One being an upbeat love song, and the other being a cryptic "journey of life together" song.
