Good comparison. People often fixate on force feedback and forget about pedals. In the UK, PC World have traditionally done a Christmas/New Year deal on the G29 which they haven't done on the T300. They offered the G29 with a shifter for £150. A T300 with the TPA pedals was £300. I went for the G29. For me £150-200 is all I want to spend on a wheel/pedal set. I also appreciate the leather rim. Adding a leather rim to the T300 would make it very expensive.

I had the G29 before, and I can say one thing. It was pretty terrible, it was loud and clunky sounding and it wasn't as strong and didn't have the best FFB. Then I found a awesome deal on the T300rs GT Edition for only 280 euro! So I bought it and it came 2 days later. The first thing I noticed was the T300rs was so much heavier due to the motors been more heavy. So I hooked it up and launched the games I used to play on the G29 such as Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally etc, and holy shit was it different! The force feedback was so much stronger and had awesome torque and it was pretty quiet too, it didn't have these awful clunky sounds. I can say, don't say that either one is better before you try them both! But my personal preference is the T300rs for sure! In terms of reliability, I had no problems, I had my T300rs now for over 10 months and there's no problems!

I use the G920, but as you said, it did essentially come down to a use case when I was trying to figure out what to buy. I don't typically intend to be very serious since, as much as I love sim racing, it is not the main focus of video games I tend to play. To be fair, the change from straight-cut gears to helical on the G27 did give a significantly smoother feel, and lower noise. I owned a G27 for about 4 years and currently the G29 since it came out, and as far as reliability goes Logitech stuff is pretty much bulletproof. The worst thing that can happen through regular use is the optical sensor on the wheel breaking, which is a plastic wheel with tiny holes that sits neatly behind one of the motors. Obviously to prevent any damage you shouldn't be running your FFB so strong it's constantly clipping and shaking the desk. The set does require some basic maintenance, I often spray the potentiometers in the pedal with contact cleaner to stop them from spiking, and I had to remove the rim to re-seat the cables once or twice.

Well with my g27 I was not so lucky, after 4 years or so the motor transistors died. Still stuck with Logitech though, since the shifter also works with the g920 and the only alternative for me would have been an expensive direct drive wheel, which I decided was not worth the money for me. It still had a reasonable lifetime however, with many hours of Richard Burns.

Well my g29 ffb died after not even 4 years. Haven't even played tooo many racing games tbh. Also got the wheel new back then. But my ffb settings were always very high due to how little it has. Ordered a G923 now, hope it'll last longer, especially with me moving away from gaming way more in the next few years. I've drastically considered the t300 (I have t3pa pros already and I could make my modded Logitech shifter standalone for about 20€) but I heard about many long term issues with it and imo it has a few too little buttons so I didn't chose it

@@farmboyfanGaming so in my experience so far, I feel it is an upgrade. The slapping noise with the g27 is gone and the thrustmaster feels smoother and stronger. To use either at full strength is unrealistic. So the power over the g27 is irrelevant. Doing a long 50 lap run at darlington in the old cup car on iracing, it feels like theres a big gap between having a lot of grip vs not having grip. The g27 gave a more subtle transition to simulate worn tires. Which would sometimes cause me to miss a corner because I didnt feel it in time. It does build some heat if you have it turned way up and will cause clipping in the game. As long as you use normal/realistic settings then itll be fine. The t300 servo is an upgrade just from a noise, feel, and versatility standpoint. But it has big shoes to fill in terms of measuring up to the durability of my old g27. I'll let you know in 10 years or less.

I got the g29 in the end as I was coming from a Logitech Momo that served me since 2005. The old thing still works, albeit with few repairs (pedal potentiometers, had to create a custom plate for the lower clamp and strenghten the wheel bearing clamp that broke over the years) and I gifted it to a friend that still had an even older Microsoft Sidewinder wheel. Nice upgrade for him (pedal axis can be separated on the Momo and it's far more supported than the old Ms wheel). The G29 is a blast, for now I've borrowed a G27 shifter from a friend and enjoying it very much. Admittedly Trustmaster shifter is better, but so are stock G29 pedals vs T300s. I don't plan to be as serious as buying further wheels like those for the T300 nor the extra pedals and shifter; the G29 is more than enough, again if you consider I'm coming from a Momo. I was looking for a T150 but I found the G29 new on amazon BF for like 170 eur, which was 20 eur more than the T150.. mindless buy tbh. And now the G29 shifter is around 35/40 eur new. As soon as my friend will reclaim his g27, it will be another mindless buy..

Logitech's reliability isn't fantastic either on certain products and their customer service is about as bad as it gets(I'm currently using Logitech G560/G840/G pro Wireless(Took 4 before I got one that worked) Previously used 5 703's before I've finally gotten one that's not faulty and pretty much have tested every other logitech product there is(as well as razer/corsair/zowie and so forth). As I stated above, I had 2 G29's that had horrendous gear grinding(very common issue) and the 2 T300RS's I had were had force feedback issues within a few months. While I haven't tested them yet, all info I've found point to it being better to save up a bit extra and aim for Fanatec equipment.(although the G25/G27 wheels are supposedly pretty bulletproof) haven't looked into that 2 much though.

@@jackhammell1926 It has been really good to me. I have noticed that over longer periods of run time it does fade a bit due to how much torque it makes. Its extremely strong but also smooth. I dig it so far and the fade is really quite a minute detail and not really a big deal at all. Just be mindful of that on long gaming sessions you may want to let it cool down occasionally. Usually after a few couple hours of solid game time. Mine only came with the two pedal set that is kind of cheap feeling honestly. It does ok but not as nice as I would like, yet on the contrary, that is why I like the thrustmaster because I can just purchase a set of T3PA pedals when I decide I want to upgrade. Makes Gran Turismo a lot of fun to play. It is a work out though and definitely a learning curve when you first start. It does get a bit discouraging if you are not familiar with sim racing on a level like these higher end setups offer. Just be patient and take plenty of time to practice. My biggest recommendation is do not mess too much with the settings in game. Just drive as is unless you really need to turn the strength down until you get comfortable with it and are able to consistently drive it down the track. There are a few settings you should adjust though, I recommend no assist except ABS until you get a feel for the wheel and game combo. I still even use ABS due to the pedals not being very good with giving feedback to my foot which is why I really dislike them. All in all though, I dig the T300 and have had it for a while now. Made GT Sport more fun by a huge margin. This is my favorite game on the PS4 currently due to just how the whole system works together extremely well. I have also tried Dirt which is extremely hard to get the feel for starting out. CarX Drift racing is fun too but the game has some funny mechanics that I do not really like with the wheel. Aseto Corsa is there. I could take it or leave it on this one honestly. GT Sport is far superior in looks, sound, mechanics and the overall fun factor in my opinion. It is a very widely compatible wheel with a solid feel. Just make dang sure you keep your fingers out of that wheel! Crashes get rather violent at 130mph+.... lol Also, get a decent wheel stand and however you can, anchor that sucker to your chair as good as possible or you will constantly be fighting the pedals. I found out pretty quick I need to get a better chair and stand setup. Kinda want to try the Yaw VR chair... Look those up if you have not. You will want one LOL

I definitely love the backwards compatibility with my PS4 and PC. That's why I bought it. I enjoy sim racing, but was limited on cash for a new PC at the time. I raced a lot of PS4 titles to include the DIRT series, F1 series, Project Cars, and some Need for Speed. I finally got my PC built on Christmas of 2018, and the transition was seamless. No special tweaks or driver hacks to make it work on PC. I'm big into iRacing (running late models, sprint cars, and pro trucks). 4 year review, this wheel has held up phenomenally! I used to race with a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback wheel and I stripped 2 cog motors on that beast... That was also dead tech and I don't think the Logitech would have that problem at all... I just am gun shy with gear driven wheels.

I hate the force feedback. It makes the wheel act wired and has a spasm and it’s super sluggish and not accurate. I’magine car having hexagons instead of circle wheels and that’s how my g29 feels. Take a turn table as example. When record is spinning, the turntable is rotating smoothly. When you hit stop, the record slows down and feels sluggish. I play rally games and even with most force feedback low, my wheel stills acts strange and goes sluggish sometimes when turning. Im enjoying the wheel but it isn’t smooth.

man your desk shakes like crazy! I couldnt take that. I put a lag screw through the left side of my desk, into the wall, to secure the left side of the desk. Then the right side, I took 2 small squares of double sided tape and put them underneath the 2 right side feet of my desk. Now my desk is anchored at three points and it doesnt move! I usually use VR, so a shaking monitor is not a big deal but the shaking wheel is a big deal. I got a G923 just a few days ago. I had a Driving Force GT and I loved it so Im very happy with the G923, with the exception of the RPM indicator lights do not work for any PC game right now. @@chongkian0712 Hey, have you got the thrustmaster software installed? I'd suggest reducing the rotation of the wheel with the builtin hard lock. To do that you need to press and hold the mode button (Next to the green light, bottom left of the base) and the left or right button on the D-pad. You will see the mode light flash 3 times to indicate that the wheel has its internal rotation either increased or decreased depending on if you held the left or right dpad button. If that doesnt work, you can also set it in the Thrustmaster software by limiting the rotation angle.

My G27 is ten years old, has thousands of hard hours on it, and is going strong. Tremendous value. The G29 is simply an updated G27. If my G27 ever dies, as of now I would replace it with a G29. That's partly because I would not have to alter my custom rig to accept it, and partly because I'm happy with the G27's performance and value. Whatever you choose, be aware that it's really important to understand 'force feedback clipping' to get the most out of it. Also, it's important to realize that the more expensive equipment will not make you any faster. That may be hard to believe, but it's true.

@Michael_Lorenson
@Michael_Lorenson 4 жыл бұрын
@@zcypher6558 Well, there are different ways to do it. I believe there are widgets than can read the system and graph it for you, but I've never actually seen one myself. Personally, I've learned through experience how much torque the G27 can produce, and it's not much. I've also learned that if the steering doesn't seem to give you much information mid-corner, the FFB is being 'clipped'. What that means is that the wheel is producing its maximum torque, but the FFB settings are demanding more. So the wheel torque just 'flatlines' at its max for some period of time, until the demanded torque finally drops below the wheel's max threshold. Between knowing what max feels like, experiencing mid-corner numbness, and remembering to pay attention to this whenever I set up a new car, I can adjust it by feel. In Assetto Corsa, I typically set it near 60 (on the 0-100 scale) in the FFB widget. Keep in mind that I drive vintage cars almost exclusively. I find that 60 is about all I can use without clipping. It probably still happens sometimes, but not enough to bother me, and I do try to use as much FFB strength as I can. If you drive newer cars with far more grip, you might have to use lower values, but I can't give useful guidance on specifics. The G27 does have enough torque to give the info you need, when it is set properly. But the steering will be very light much of the time, so it takes a bit of a light touch from you. It's the same as power steering in a real car, effectively. Couple other things, specific to Assetto Corsa: I almost never use any of the 'FFB enhancement' gimmicks in driving sims. However AC has an enhanced understeer effect (not sure precisely what they call it), in the Controller Settings. I like it and I use it. You can really feel it when the front tires 'let go' and begin sliding. There is also a FFB smoothing effect. The Logitech wheels use a two-motor drive system, one for each direction of wheel rotation. They are geared directly to the steering shaft, and you'll feel a small amount of play in the system, as it switches between one motor and the other. Note that steering position is measured by a separate optical sensor at the end of the shaft, which is very precise, so it has no effect on that. But it does mean the wheel can be noisy and sort of rattle back and forth a bit. AC's smoothing effect helps a lot with that. I use a low value because I don't want to lose too much detail from the FFB. Hope all this helps.

I personally have a Logitech G920, and I must say - it's ok. The pedals are obviously better, than the wheel itself. It also depends a lot on the game. Reliability is a huge issue to consider. I have never owned a Logitech G29/G920, but I've watched teardowns of it. The components and build quality are visually superior to what Thrustmaster is doing in the TX/T300RS. The Logitechs incorporate far more metal attachment points, bracing and components. The Logitech incorporates two motors to the Thrustmaster's single motor, and the Logitech motors are mounted to huge metal housings which also house the helical gears. I'd be curious to see the rating of these motors because EACH of the Logitech motors seem larger than the thrustmaster's single motor. I realize the Thrustmaster is rated to have more torque but its obvious that's due to the pulley system used. The thrustmaster needs a fan on that one little motor and has known power supply issues from overheat. I have a Thrustmaster TMX Pro bundle with the T3PA Pedal set. The wheel just died on me after using it on 4 sessions. It was working all fine and good then I paused my F1 Game between races to eat dinner, grab a drink. Came back and the dpad signal was gonzo. Tried everything, total system reboot, new TMX firmware, Boot loading it, nada. I contacted Thrustmaster. In the meantime I figured I'd take it apart just to see if maybe just something came loose or whatever. Let me tell you I was not impressed with the build quality inside. Hot glue everywhere used to keep wires out of the way and hold down ferrite rings. Everything just cheap plastic. The only metal under the hood was the motor itself, which is mount with plastic straps. Anyways, from what I've researched on my particular issue, it's a bad idea to leave a Thrustmaster wheel plugged in when you aren't using it because they just randomly develop issues. I have seen the teardowns of the Thrustmaster TX and I'm telling you, most of the components are identical to the TMX other than the drive system. Looks like the same motor, same Power supply, same housing, same hot glue everywhere. That worries me when considering my next step. Now my dilemma is to either switch up and buy Logitech G920 or stick with Thrustmaster and upgrade to a TX since I already have the T3PA pedal set. Right now they are roughly the same price, maybe a $20 usd difference depending where you look.

I got the G29 for 200€ new on Amazon last year. They usually go for around that during the major sales. I really can recommend it as a starter wheel to anyone. Its great, best experience Ive had was in GT:Sport, the driving is amazing in that game. The one thing that needs to be mentioned, at least for me, is the Force Feedback gap from around -10/+10 degrees from center. This makes using it in high speed games like F1 really difficult, at least in my opinion. Also a word on the pedals: theyre great. However, the break and gas pedal are so close together that it is really uncomfortable for longer periods, because you have to keep your legs so close together that youre honestly constantly crushing your nuts. Other than that, for 200 bucks its a good investment, I enjoy it a lot.

i will always recommend fanatec for their wheels and such because of the reliability i have seen and from my personal experience with my still working CSR original that is now 11 years old and still ripping hard (motor replaced once and standard wheel replaced by custom modded hub and JDM aftermarket drift wheel at the time of this post), but also for the premium feel of the drive and petals. yes fanatec is a much more expensive option but their later wheels have tons of room for upgrade-ability and a decent amount of mod-ability. if this wheel broke any time soon, i would probably go for the T300RS based on all my research on the wheels of today. this video is a very good reference for info on both wheels but fails to mention some of the more known issues with the g29 such as the steering wheel play being enormous after maybe a year of use or sooner and some problems with the hall effect causing the wheel to be misaligned with the center. i have learned of this from numerous friends and from feedback videos about this wheel so your mileage may vary. i just want to let the information be known for anyone looking to get any of these wheels. great video Callsign!

Its like night and Day with these 2 i had the g29 before i got a t300rs and the wheel is exatly as IT should be for a budget wheel.. i customised the standard pedals 2 Begin with but then got the T3PA PRO pedals. And i have 2 say dont go for the G29 anymore buy the T300rs but buy a Bundles with other pedals then the standard. I was lucky i got IT for only 200$ 2.5 years ago🤙

I just upgraded from a G29 to the T300 alcantara edition and damn this wheel is nice. The only thing I miss is the brake pedal from the G29, some people hated the hard rubber at the bottom, but I loved it and it was quite a bit better than the T300 alternative.

Bought the Thrustmaster... and it died in a month... Really shitty product. Took them 2 months to fix it and then add the ship time onto that.... I went out and bought the Logitech as a work around and it's a great wheel and I still use it. The logitech has lasted a year so far and I have 16,000 race miles on it so far without an issue. In hindsight, I should have bought the Logitech first and saved money and hassle.

Not really a fair comparisen they're 2 different price classes. Both decent wheels for sure. You're not buying junk. I wouldn't buy the T300 with the standard pedals if you're not planing on upgrading those in the future. The G29 is a great total package. Get the T300 GT version with the better pedals as a total package. If you are looking for a lower price class then these 2 the Thrustmaster T150 is a good wheel aswell for its price. None of those packages will hold you back racing they all have a good enough FFB to make you feel the car move around. Depends on you budget, you get what you pay for but none of those 3 options are a scam and will deffenatly allow you to have great fun racing. Note that the T150 does not have a hard mount option but the clamps do a good job and Thrustmaster will send you a new one for free if you do manage to break one. Just make sure to take a picture of you recite to include in the Email you send them. Might take them a while but thrustmaster will send you new bits for free long after the 2 year warenty passed if you can show them that recite.

Yea, i dont understand why they're always comparing the g29 with the t300. On Amazon the g29 with the 3 pedal base and shifter is €200 and the equivalent t300 rig is €600! Obviously most people think the t300 feels better. An upgrade to a t300 setup at that price is too risky for me given the reliability issues I've seen on u tube. I could afford to replace a broken g29 rig but not a t300 if their warrantys had run out.

I have the G29 with Shifter and it’s good, but I can feel that grinding when steering the others appear much smoother. I’d much prefer that smoother and more precise steering input. If I wanted to break the bank I’d go with Thrusmaster or Fanatec stuff. But because I’ve come from controller to wheel since December 2018 I’ll stay with g29 for now as it’s still new and I’m still new to wheels.
@kutanah

is the grinding really that bad? for me the t300 is gonna be like another 100$ for the same things I get with the g29. If it’s too bad I may have to reconsider my g29 choice though
@DaniMacYo
@DaniMacYo 5 жыл бұрын
moik Personally it’s fine It’s not really a grind I think, it’s just the older technology when you turn it has a different feel than the others. Like it feels not as smooth but it’s still smooth. I know I’m not making any sense it’s hard to explain. I’m doing really when with it. After 6 months. Basically when you turn your wheel in real life when sitting still it’s kinda like that feeling. But obviously not as hard 😁 the other wheels from what I’ve read just feel a little more looser Because the technology it’s more newer. But the g29 is still a great wheel, very reliable compared to the others, and it’s more affordable and also has great pedals. You have to spend more money to get great pedals on the other brands. G29 works great with Gran turimso, F1, Assetto Corsa and Iracing. It’s okay with Project cars but you need to find some good settings because project cars 2 is different for each car. Watch more reviews if you need to. A lot of people love the g29. Also something to keep in mind, if you use the g29 on PS4 I find automatic calibration it’s always as good. Basically when you plug it into PS4 it automatically calibrates it. What I do is, once I’m in the game I’m playing, I switch to ps3 mode ( a little button on top of the wheel rim. Let the wheel spin, Then switch back to PS4 mode the wheel will spin faster when calibrating. Then you know you’ve done it. Normally it’s a slower spin. Also if you play Assetto Corsa don’t switch to PS3/PS4 mode for that game it doesn’t work let the game do it automatically. It does it as soon as you turn it on. For other games it’s okay to calibrate yourself.

i writing this for someone who want to buy a wheel and proly dont know what is he buying, now in start i would say go T300rs if you want to play sim race, if you want to play mostly games like bus sim, or Euro/American truck sim, or Mud Runner , or games thats are less simulators the Logitech g29 would be good, i bought Logitech g27 2 years ago and as any other logitech have the "down" side is that center FFB looseness that i didnt notice in beginning, now i avoid race games cos i have that loose center and hate it so much that cost me ton of nerves and i quit instantly. OK so if you are not "perfectionist" like me and wont spending more money go for G29, but if have money (or spare some) jump over Logitech and go T300rs or even T500rs

You're supposed to adjust the brake dead zone in each game so that the car locks up where the pedal is solid, it replicates a car's hydraulic brake system, thus providing a solid, real feeling, brake pedal, not a gamie thing like the brake pedal on the T300 two pedal set, which is garbage. Honestly, the brake pedal on the Logitech wheel sets is one of their strongest features, and I cringe every time I hear someone recommend removing the block.
