i think SLA print is where it shines, FDM is worse when the object is smaller because the layers will be more prone. and this is great idea, ppl can actually create perfect shape as they want.

if you want to smooth out 3D printed plastic, look up a cold acetone vapor bath.. it turns 3D printed plastics glossy smooth

That only works with ABS plastic. This is probably printed in PLA which can't be chemically processed in a safe manner.

I think he does it by getting some video of the mouse sitting still, then a view of him putting his hand on it, and lowering the opacity of the overlay. It's easy, actually, you just have to be careful not to move the mouse. If you edit images or edit video, or went to science class, you probably know what I mean.

G305 scrolls vary a lot.. so the copy you received just has that feel and force requirement. I own three G305s and the scroll and Mouse 3 click is different feeling on all of them.

I've two also but this one is a lot higher. Hard to explain you would really need to feel it next to your other G305s. I expect the revised shell has worked on this but I've not had that confirmed.

Great video! I got a brand new G305 and ordered 3D prints for a similarly modded shell. Now... Do you think I should immediately or the mouse as soon as I get it? Or wait a little bit? Also is it worth buying hyperglides for this mouse (do they fit the 3D printed shell)? And lastly... Is it hard to mod a mouse? I have no experience and I'm a little scared I'll throw 40€ in the trash

It's a good question. I prefer the GPW over the G305 due to the shape but I use the G305 as my traveling mouse so I don't have it. I'm atm in a halfway house where I'm using the GPW but want to transition to the Model O due to the shape. So I would take the model O over a G305 even the 3d printed one. I want to get a 3d printer so when I do I might then make a wireless FK2 shell lightweight using the G305 inners. People have done this but it's still heavy. This to me would be my ideal combo.

I'm not sure but the base will have different mounting points which is where you might get into some issues.

Hi, Beardedbob. I got my hands on 2 G305s and noticed the buttons and scroll wheel felt completely different. I don't think testing the force required to push the buttons gives accurate data for this reason.

At stock the mouse with a 3d printed back and triple a battery is already around 80 to 78 grams. So theres not alot of room for heavier material if They want to save weight.as They are only geting 10 or so grams saved threw out the rest of the body

I would check the UL2, MM710 or Model O- for figer tip. You can also contact @mousemods on twitter as they made the G305 shell and have been improving them.

Great review but why is the audio so terrible or just me? Edit: on my phone speaker it sounds fine because it can't do low end. Just fyi: the low sounds on ur voice sound horrible if listening with a subwoofer in the living room for some reason.

Glad you liked the review. I don't have the same issue but a few people seem to around the low end. I'll have a look and see if I can tweak the bass further as I have taken some off recently. I'm assuming some audio devices are enhancing the bass hence the distortion, otherwise I'm not sure 😩

@@Beardedbob Yep, I still watched the review and subbed to the channel! Overall you have a very good professional style of reviewing :) Hope you can find what the issue is with the audio. I honestly wasn't exaggerating, it was quite unbearable to concentrate on the video because of it. I just plugged in my headphones(MSR7 on DX3 PRO) to listen again and it sounded a lot better to me. But then again it's definitely not a bass heavy headphone. It's only going to be an issue for some setups. I would imagine rolling or cutting off the low end should fix it! Good luck!

IMO the slope sides are needed, it gives you extra grip and easier to lift the mouse. It’s a feature Rocket Jump Ninja says makes a good mouse.

RJN knows his shapes. I didn't have any issues gripping this custom shell though. If we could get a lower angled slope on the g305 it would be nice as it's a be much in it's standard form.

I've never had a problem picking up a mouse with straight sides. Unless you use lube on your hands when gaming I don't really see the problem tbh. How hard is it really to pick up a box shaped object? The only mouse I've had a bit of a problem picking up was the deathadder 2013, but that's because the right side wasn't flat and actually slanted outwards a bit so it was slightly wider at the bottom. The G305 has almost the perfect shape for me except for the sloped sides which ruins it for me. (RJN didn't like the sloped sides of this mouse either btw). I like to grip a mouse with the very tips of my fingers since it gives me better accuracy and allows for a larger range of vertical movement, but since the sides on this mouse are so sloped I can't really grip it that way and it forces me to grip it more with the joints of my fingers, which like I said reduces my accuracy and limits the range of motion in my fingers. So even though this mouse has almost the perfect shape for me, the sides make it pretty much unusable for my grip.

I 3d printed mine and kept the internal shell the same and just changed the outside parts like this www.thingiverse.com/thing:3668841 it ends up at 70 grams on my scale. but for using a aaa battery and not a button battery and still using the old internal black parts it seems pretty good. one thing to note I did have to sand where the scroll wheel sits as it was far to tight on the print and made clicking the scroll wheel and scrolling way tighter.

I have a really messed up left hand and am a competitive fortnite player and use the logitech g502 as I use it due to being able to bind not only some of my builds but 3 of my weapon slots , but it's such a heavy mouse. Have you tried a game keypad like the Orbweaver? this makes it easier to bind keys and it fits better around your hand?
