It's Lois here today, today I'm showing you how I rescued a muddy and overworked painting using very drastic but effective method! Disclaimer - please don't try this on very cheap paper as it probably won't stand up to the treatment! Any good quality cotton or pul paper should be fine... I use a limited palette of just 3 colours to re-do the painting, Winsor & Newton artist quality paynes grey and Cotman raw sienna

What a great idea! I have a painting where I sketched the scene but overworked the sky wash and had to start over in a new piece of paper. I will try giving it a bath and see if I can recover it! I will let you know if I am successful. Thanks!
