Minimum pricing is just going to keep poor alcoholics poor, if your deep into an addiction some people are gonna keep buying whether they can afford it or not, they're gonna stress out without money and then buy more alcohol, bit of a viscous cycle for some even if it works for some.

The thing is though, the minimum pricing is primarily more about control than what it is about health. Majority of alcohol abusers in Scotland are those who earn more than £40,000-per-year, and yes I get where Darren is coming from when he talks about the amount of money spent by the NHS in regards to incidents relating to alcohol but for me personally I dont think the minimum pricing will resolve that issue, all it will do is give a poor alcoholic more of an option between : Alcohol or feeding themself. The minimum pricing will not resolve the problems of alcohol abuse within Scotland at all in my opinion...The problem is more deeper than that. Look at the law for example, where you cant purchase alcohol for 12 hours of the day at any convenience store throughout Scotland, was that supposed to tackle the amount of alcoholics turning up at A&E? Because if so then the plan hasnt really worked has it?

You have a great point Alcohol should not be available from corner shops or Supermarkets at all. Definitely not. Minimum price will also cause more crime by stealing alcohol and property damage. Our local Tesco has had hundreds of pounds worth of damage to the store because someone was desperate for alcohol. Street drugs are also out of control.

Absolutely disagree about alcohol. Alcoholism is the symptom of a sick society. A society not at ease with itself. A society at ease with itself does not trash itself. No matter the price of the drug.

Alcoholism is a symptom of personal pain plus addiction because alcoholsm s a painkiller that does not work. The Soiety afrund the alcoholic is a secondary issue, but an issue.

It's just because you're not used to hearing it on TV Scott. I used to feel the same when I'd hear a Glaswegian accent on TV. The Irish feel the same when they hear one their own on English produced TV... the Welsh, the Scousers likely too.
