People are so non-aggressive here in Northern Europe. We barely like to talk to strangers... It's almost a crime if a person talks to you on the bus.

The style you are describing is actually called hime lolita! (princess lolita) It is based on rococo and Marie Antoinette themes, and is basically a mix of sweet and classic to make an elegant, regal look. It's usually characterised by the princess sleeves which resemble rococo era sleeves ( these can be found on some AP ops like Cameo Window ) I'm also a hime lolita ehehe

I'm not a Finnish lolita, but being an Estonian lolita and therefore being very close by and visit Finland a lot, I can confidently say that Finland has a lovely thriving super nice and welcoming lolita community and they have an amazing lolita fashion event every year where they've had lolita icons like Mana and this year the main guest will be AP. I've actually been thinking that it would be super awesome if they could have you as a guest one day! I also feel like Finns are generally pretty cool about alt fashion in general? Also, I loved your video. It was super fun to watch!

I'm happy they didn't use doll as well. Living dolls and lolitas are not the same. I have nothing against living dolls or even living dolls in lolita. I just hate it when big companies use it or the living dolls don't make it clear it's their personal choice and not the communities.

German lolita here - when I'm in lolita, people mostly just stare. I've had the occasional unsolicited photo being taken, and some very rude catcalls, but more often, people ask me about what I'm wearing. Some are rather obvious about thinking it's weird, but others (especially old ladies) are really sweet and tell me they like it a lot. Generally, young people are more likely to be rude. There's a big difference between where I live now and where I grew up, too - in my hometown in Northern Germany, I've gotten way more rude comments and stares. (Though to be fair, people there stare at me even if I'm just wearing a nice "normal" outfit. It's a city where most people don't stand out at all, while where I live now, you can see far more fancy or even just tasteful, carefully coordinated and thus unique outfits.) Also, I believe my friend got a dress from the lolita in the video! I've yet to see it in person, but it's gorgeous!

german Lolita here too! I live between Cologne and Düsseldorf so I can gemerally wear my street fashion out and about. I try to keep away fron the city center because of work and many, MANY rude people, I just dake the train to either Cologne or Düsseldorf and meet my friends there because people are generally more accepting there.

Not a lolita but a fellow German who wears vintage clothes that often involve petticoats. Old people always talk to me and say that they like it or how it reminds them of the old times. Younger people just seem really confused. I live in a very small town, but that town hosts a very big vintage festival every summer. The locals just think I'm in festival mood year-around.

I follow her and I would actually classify her style as more classic and hime. I say hime because hime is basically Marie Antoinette OTT royal aesthetic with everything from the princess sleeves to the big 18th century hair and hime tends to use the brighter pastels you would find in sweet whereas in classic Id say the pastels should be more muted like mauve, grayish blue, dusty rose etc. Idk thats just my two cents

Yes, I was about to add she seems to be "channeling" Marie Antoinette. I love that she seems truly at home in her clothes and not just like she's wearing a "costume" (which I think is the way it should be with our attire, fitting our personalities as well as our bodies) When I saw this video I was struck by her beauty, elegance and aristocratic air. And I couldn't help but wonder how the heck someone could afford to dress like that!! 🤤 just a bit envious here, haha

thought i'd leave a comment on how other fashion sub styles are viewed in finland since lor mentioned it around 8:45 outside of the capital and the larger cities it's very uncommon to see anyone dressing differently, especially because of how rural lots of the places are. but in the cities, especially helsinki there's a decently large punk and goth scene! it's mostly because finland produces and consumes so much metal and alternative music so people get drawn to the subcultures and styles. the jfashion community has been getting bigger but it's still nowhere as common as seeing goths and punks here. most people here just will look at you in sort of a curious way, maybe the occasional person complimenting how you look, but otherwise there's not much flack you'll receive in public. i mostly just know about the goth scene here from being one, but if there's anything you want to know i'm all ears!

Finn here. I don't wear lolita, but I do wear some gothic/alternative styles (functional, but still out of the norm) and the most I've ever gotten are "looks". Finns on the whole respect others' personal space and the only people likely to comment on your unusual clothes are drunks and children (and kids are almost universally positive). In fact, while attending an EGL event in Helsinki last year with a friend (I was wearing borderline ouji) we went to a cafe near the ecent locasion. Sure, people looked at us kinda funny, but the only person to approach us was a mom with a toddler. The kid was clearly interested in the clothes, so the mom asked what occasion we were dressed up for. We told her and that was that. If the kid had wanted to see some pieces like my tophat up close, it would've been fine, but they weren't THAT fascinated (good, no risk of drool on my hat).

Im from Denmark (northern europe) and here people look at a lot! Ive been wearing extreme goth, punk and lolita and everytime people stare a lot because we are such a small country but ive never experienced people saying or doing anything negative! Whenever we were several lolitas together people came up to us a lot and asked what it was but never in a rude way. And when we explained it people are usually really happy and they think it is cute and interesting. When wearring goth or punk people dont really say much but they will avoid sitting next to me on the bus. But i guess there is just a stigma with "dark" and "scary" fashions that im dangerous or something. With lolita i only had good experiences or just the regular stares but you get used to that

Unfortunately that's not better in Europe. In France I feel that's even worse ! Paris especially. French people are known for being quite judgmental already but in Paris that's even worse. People stare, laugh, make comments like the very infamous "bachelorette party" or "carnival" one. But the worst for me personally is the pictures. I live in Paris and we tend to make most of our tea parties in cute and chic tea and coffee place (such as Laduree and others...) which ends up being in pretty touristic places and it's really a pain sometimes. I am pretty sure that's the same in America but I can't count how many times we nicely asked people to not take pictures of us without our consent and lots claims their freedom of speech (the streets are "public" so in the law they're allowed to take pictures of anything they want). Lots of them are French (I even remember having an argument about this with french tourist in Harajuku, like even miles away from home they're still annoying). Or we can be kicked out of famous parc (Tuileries) because our outfits can create "gathering" and it's dangerous (it only happened in this particular parc). People even are sometimes filming us from outside of the Angelic Pretty shop. I remember raising my middle finger in the middle of a private event we were having inside at a girl that was filming us from outside and mocking us probably for her snapshat followers. It makes me personally more and more uncomfortable and uneasy and gives me lots of anxiety before leaving my house to go to a meeting (plus unlike this girl I don't really have my mom support on this so it doesn't help) Oh and you're not allowed to go to Disneyland in full Lolita coord (other french lolitas advice to go without any petticoat and not to wear something too OTT) because kids can mistakes you from a Disney character lol... Nor in Palace of Versailles. Sorry that comment was pretty long...

Genesisoftheend is an amazing lolita! Her style is so inspiring and lovely! This documentary was much more decent than any of the previous similar docs, and I think she represents the lolita community really well, with so many followers she inspires through her IG as well as being a lolita designer/seamstress! Many of the previous documentaries focused on the shock factor instead of fashion for its own sake. It would be lovely to see more documentaries of other lolitas/subfashions that aims to educate the audience rather than garnering shock factor points. She represents rococo/classic/hime-style really well :) I would reference this short documentary to others who don't know much about lolita fashion, I think they/she did a fantastic job! Only thing is, I wish they included a footage of her creations because she is so talented! I hope to someday own one of her dresses, and can't wait to see how she will grow as a designer/influencer/model! I could see her having international lolita modeling career like Misako and Midori ^^ It was also sweet to hear her mom being so supportive of her daughter's passion, as not all of us are lucky enough to have that. I think it might be a nice video to watch for the family/friends of lolitas, to show that there isn't anything inherently wrong with this fashion.

I was kinda baffled by that comment in the documentary about people in Finland not being used to people standing out from the crowd. I have the opposite opinion actually. In all my travels (mostly around Europe) I've never really been anywhere where I'm left alone as much as in Finland. I always get stares and comments abroad but at home I'm just one of many alternative people and I see other people who dress differently all the time. Sure I've only seen lolitas in full gear once at a coffee shop where they were having some sort of gathering but there are plenty of people inspired by Japanese stuff around. If you're very extreme looking you're going to get reactions everywhere but for me Finnish culture is great for that because people don't bother strangers as much here. I find that people here don't really approach strangers even if they find them very strange looking unless they're going out of their way to be mean. Staring is more frowned upon as well and people tend to look away if you catch them at it.

I don't wear lolita, but I do have blue (sometimes pink or purple or peach oor.. you get the point) hair and a style a bit more to the alternative side. I've lived in both Finland and Sweden and have never gotten any negative comments about how I look, which is nice and probably because "you do NOT talk to strangers (unless drunk)" here (both Finland and Sweden, the Nordics in general I guess). I have gotten some occasional strange looks tho, but nothing more.

so i live in germany in europe. i am very interested in J-fashion and tried alot. The thing is that when you wearing something diffrent then just normal pants and a T-shirt everyone looks at you, some positively other negative. A friend of mine who wears a lot of sweet lolita got pushed around and touched in inappropriate places without her consent, when i asked them why they did it they really argued with me that she wants that kind of attention! I already live in a pretty big city in germany but still there is still so little groups of people who wear alternative fashion.. its just so sad cause now i am not even wearing alternative fashion "at the moment" but still when i wear something a little fancy i still get looks.. its just sad

I wish my mom were as supportive as this mom she try’s to support me but she doesn’t want me to wear lolita and try’s to get me to stop without being obvious. She’s also worried about me getting bullied.

Quarter video Lohr talks about how and where to send the video, about monetization and patreone. This is probably not very good. We love your content and we are ready to support you all the ways. You don't have to explain everything, just do your best and be yourself! The coord is awesome by the way, so cool with a blond wig!

And in my experience old ladys are very interested in lolita and ask you questions and are very nice and kids are also nice (most of the time if they are not pretending to be adults or teens) but most teens especially will laugh and point and talk shit about you but i feel like the norm in finland is if you are weird and dont look exactly like everyone else you have to be shunned which is sad and the same for most alternative fashions sadly

You look so pretty in blonde and pink, holy maccaroni :D PS: I really like when you start rambling about technical things, like the lighting in this one. Shows how much you know and care about it.

I adore her style, it's so beautiful and feminine, and long may it continue to bring her happiness. Her Mum is also super adorable, and her words really made me just want to give her a hug. Supportive parents are a godsend! I've only seen one group of Lolitas here in the UK (when I lived in London) and they were swarmed by people, plus having abuse being hurled at them. The typical "are you Bo Peep" bullshite 🙄 plus stuff so vulgar it boggles the mind! It's a shame I was on the bus because I would've very much liked to have talked to them about the fashion and their inspiration. They were all stunning. Sadly if you're even remotely "different" here in the UK, whether that's aesthetically or otherwise, people let you know about it, and will hound you til the cows come home. It's a sad state that certain people won't allow others to have fun and just be authentic.
