That's what's called Flemish Bond , I quite like like it although it takes more time with all the cuts , it's always nice to use the reclaimed stocks , it gives the build a bit of character..... 👍

Love the videos mate, I'm new to your channel but just want to say I admire the work ethic you and your team have, honestly it's always the small businesses that put heart into the job and it shows in your videos mate. using the old brick is a nice touch man well worth it in aesthetics, so much more natural looking. Keep up the good work, looking forward to the next video already 👌💯

The herringbone pattern of the brickwork with the reclaimed bricks is a work of art. You have outdone yourself.

Nice bit or Flemish bond there Darren, little tip wet your bricks prior to laying and have your muck a little more wetter. I use to use the heavy rubber compressor hose for jointing up too, keep a look out for some.

It ain't your fault what the engineer stipulated but putting the weight of that house on eight bolts is just silly, they may check out on the calcs but he's gone way overboard with the steel and to not sit it on top of the upright is beyond belief really. If they had built stone henge like that we wouldn't know it existed cos it would all be on the floor😂 I've been in construction, some pretty heavy stuff too, for 50 years and I've never seen it done that way, unless it's a new thing though I can't see the advantage. Like your work.

Is the gable the same bond? Is that the reason for it. Also just a little advice , I’ve noticed a few of your jobs are quite untidy mate. I don’t get why you keep the shit hanging around. That’s the main thing letting you down really. It’s not a good look . Not being funny at all, and take no notice if you want. Just old school advice mate. Bricks look good 👍

Could it be he wants to get the best value from skip or grab hire for the customer? Sure some people would burn through skips and charge the client. Also working with a small team brings its own challenges, I am sure Darren will comment if he feels the need but not sure it has any bearing on the finished work
@markrichardson52952 жыл бұрын
Small sites are hard to keep clean if you don't have room for skips . London is difficult to get permits for skips in the road let alone the costs
@ianbroom73402 жыл бұрын
@@jruk1981 there no cheaper the longer you wait . There’s easy enough for skips or grab now . Customer pays anyway
@ianbroom73402 жыл бұрын
@@markrichardson5295 yes I appreciate that but that’s well over due for skip or grab .
@darrenthebuilder2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ian, yes you're right its great to have a tidy site. Not always possible but sometimes easier than others. We supply skips (in price) so we do have to be wise with how we use them. we have done two here already. We will be doing a grab soon. This site is very tricky as we can longer get any skip in due to the location of the side gate and we cant get one on the street as the immediate side road is a main road. It will have to be grab but even that is tricky as there is almost never any free space on the other side of the wall so you just have to book it and pray that there isnt cars parked that day (which is 99% of the time). Id love it clear more than you believe me lol, but it is coming soon :)
