Update on the horses "Of the seven horses involved, two are back on duty and the other five are due to be sent to the countryside to convalesce as soon as their wounds are sufficiently healed to allow them to travel." One soldier remains in hospital. Some of the others are recovering at home.❤

Incredibly bad behavior...the older woman in black hears and sees the Gate Guard marching towards her, has no reaction to the Guard barely running into her, yelling at her and remains inches away completely unaware and self absorbed like she's watching a TV show as the Guard keeps going. How incredibly selfish and rude. Zombie tourons.

Thanks for the stroll round London again. I was watching with my son and, seeing Westminster Abbey brought back a memory from almost 50 years ago. My two passions in life, apart from the obvious, are horses and history and when my eldest son was around 8 we went round Westminster Abbey. I was explaining to him who the various memorials were for, who the people were and just where and how they slotted into our history. But whenever we found a quiet spot we were soon joined by a group of elderly American tourists and whenever we moved they did too. But I carried on with my history lesson and tried to ignore them. Once we had finished they all gave me a round of applause and £1 each (around £10 in today’s money.). They told me I’d given them far more information than their tour guide had and they’d really enjoyed my “history lesson”. If I recall my windfall was frittered away on an ice cream each for my sons - at London prices! I think the moral of the story is that I might have enjoyed being a tour guide - if it wasn’t for the damned tourists getting under my feet, baring in that mind we were tourists too.

@@ivydickson7596 there was an addition to the story of that day. My youngest son was 3 at the time and my mother was hanging on tightly to his hand. But while dealing with a sneeze she briefly let go and in those few seconds my son disappeared. We knew he couldn’t have found his way out of the royal crypt alone and a search party was quickly gathered. It didn’t take long before someone tapped me on my shoulder and pointed at a tomb which had 3 carved kneeling mourners on one side and 4 on the other. Only now there were 4 on both sides - one wearing more colourful and modern clothing than the others. He’s in his 50s now and still as daft as a brush as we say in Yorkshire.

He was watching you during his conversation and at the end I thought he took a half step towards you as if he was going to say something. I can reiterate what the old gentleman said ref time apart in a marriage. My ex ( late ) husband was in the Armoured side of the Royal Horse Artillery. When we resided in Germany we had 7 yrs of him going away regularly from anything upto 6 months at a time on routine exercises. When we returned to the UK he was around 24/7 except for the odd 24 hour duty. Many a time or day the words were " wish you would bugger off on exercise and give me a break " were uttered. Many marriages broke up because of it.

Thing with temperature is that it always feels hotter in a city, with all the reflective surfaces, and tarmac that absorbs heat and then re releases it, plus all the buildings that block breezes. London too is a humid place, situated as it is on a tidal river, and humid heat is much more uncomfortable. Then add in the sheer number of people, which really does make a difference and it’s gonna “feel” hotter than perhaps the temperature might suggest. All that without taking into consideration that people aren’t used to heat there. Personally I just think it’s nuts creating a little “perfect” illusion……because it’s OBVIOUS it’s not real and I hate that they parade it in front of young people who think that “fake” is the way to go…..look at all those perfectly normal looking girls(even very young ones) at HorseGuards who smile perfectly normally right up till a camera is pointed their way, and THEN out come the fish lips and painfully contorted poses, just like an “influencer” because they think it looks GOOD and not silly and more than a little bit sad that they want to look like a contorted dead fish with too much makeup!!🤡🐟 Lol we shall agree to differ on the horses John😂’tis no biggie after all. Speaking of horses, does Whitehall have a front coronet or is it just the light? Ohhh that bay police horse was stunning!!! As ofc was pretty Ava 😁

On another note, John, unlikely as it is that I will ever get to see London at 78 years old, what is in that museum that none of us will ever get to see. Would be interesting to see.

22:17 Viper. 23:47 no nonsense Gatesman trooper from yesterday. 😊 29:10 trooper who mum left a note in his b🎉oot very popular video and a state trumpeter. 😊 30:01 new horse Whitehall. Love the retired Colestream Officer what a character. Lots of interesting characters today John. 35:26 - I'm wondering who is next? 44:41 Ava the gray police horse. She is the one who wears the black ear covers. Can anyone tell me why?
@valerienorton4371
@valerienorton4371 8 күн бұрын
The Ear covers are worn to help keep a horse consentrated from loud noises and intrusive insects, flies, wasps, bees, esp horse flies whilst on duty. The horse may be new to walking the streets and any sudden noise such as car horns will make it jump, some horses are more sensitive than others. So for the safety of the horse,rider and public it is best to wear the ear covers. These horses are trained to a very high level but nothing is like hitting the streets of London with all the different noises going on.. Hope this helps 😊

It's such a shame to judge people. A guy came past my bungalow a couple of days ago. He didn't look the most well groomed; he had his bike weighed down by what seemed to be his worldly goods. He stopped, and we chatted what a charming man. If you wish to see nonsense and more nonsense, then the Eurovision contest is on tonight. Good luck and thank you for the channel x

Regarding red telephone boxes. We've only ever had cream ones in Hull due to having our own phone company Kingston Communications since 1904. They're exactly the same as the red ones but painted cream. I have a full working one just a bit further up my Avenue. Great video John. 😊

Great that tourists from around the globe visit the UK. Getting the perfect photo is understandable, but these guards are at work, they have a duty and their work takes precedence over the perfect selfie. The guards need to be allowed to do their work without being impeded or disrespected.. Great video as ever. Love watching from Portugal. 🇬🇧🇵🇹

@@salus1231 Not I lol. I’m 70 and was told by a nurse only yesterday how soft my skin is - I said yes, I even have soft wrinkles 😂 Those who live in the outback, central Aus, where it’s past being hot lol, their skin cops it. Most of us are so used to wearing sunscreen, I prefer, thin long sleeved tops, keeps my arms cool and no sunburn. Yes I’ve been sunburned as a kid, English, Irish, and I’ve got my red hair Scottish genes still running through my veins lol.
