Good morning🌞 good morning everyone.🌞 John the bells went off he might have connected that with leaving. It's very important that the horse does not have the option to set the mood that is the riders responsibly. I feel what happens when your on the horse is your responsibility after all you're in the driver's seat, there are exceptions of course, The horses should all be desensitized to noises etc and the little acting up wouldn't happen. When they act up and you give them what they want, you've turned the power over to them, and what I'm seeing is they are allowing the horses to win. John, a massive meltdown would blow your socks off lol lol. These are little testing of rider or that moment to to let your horse know its going to be OK but you must keep the horse in that place and get him calm. One person in comments said a lot of the gaurds are just learning to ride, that starting out with a horse and rider that are learning and that can be a disaster Just my opinion and my experience might not be others, My favorite rider is the heavy set gaurd that was the first one you stood in front,that horse is calm because that is what the gaurd expects.l watch the connection between rider and horse and he is always communicating with the horse through the reins,I watch his rein hand if the horse reaches out to a tourist he quietly pulls his head back etc.he might be queuing with legs and feet but that big coat covers that up, I do watch the feet. Thanks for the videos. I enjoy them 🫡🫡🤗

If you remove the horse at the first sign of a marching band (or whatever the stimulus is) then that horse will not become acclimated to typical crowd noises and activities. These horses are the public face of the Horse Guard and must be accustomed to large crowds, unruly children, rude tourists, all the things they will encounter at the box. I understand why they didn't at once take him off to the stable, if they did that, the horse will quickly understand that he can misbehave and be rewarded with going back to the stable--it's very similar to "barn sour". They tried to keep him in the box so that he can learn to tolerate the noise. I understand why they finally let him go in though, the risk of someone in the crowd getting injured if they push too hard.
@Roox81155 ай бұрын
I completely agree with you. I've watched Trojan three times having this particular behaviour, in the span of two consecutive weeks (one of them being in this video but there are two separate situations with different stimuli where he reacted the same). So he had a history with these things and this is why he was no longer brought to Horse Guards afterwards, probably still in additional training when the Great Escape occured 2 days ago. From an article in the Daily Mail, Vida (the grey/white one) also had a history with being very easily spooked in the past.

That’s sad news but I guess it was to be expected..poor horses. It was one of the saddest videos to watch. I hope all that were injured make a full recovery. Prayers and positive thoughts sent from the US.❤️❤️

My friend had a beautiful Friesan horse who when he saw you were going to take his picture he would lift his head and pose for you. Such an awesome character he was.

As an American, I need to mention this again I love your videos and your commentary. It’s the funniest I believe people think that this is all like Disneyland we understand that these are true, servicemen not to be mocked not to be harassed they’re there to do a job along with the horses, so that’s why I think they look at it as an amusement park similar to what we here have in America, Disney World, Disney land….. My favorite is “the horse slapper is back “and “child sacrifice on your left “😂 Also, can we get a thank you for the trooper and the horse for putting up with such disrespect

Hi John! I've had this thought for months now, that so many people in these crowds must be wearing so many fragrances on them and it must be very hard for the horses to smell them. The other thing is why can't they paint a semicircle around the front of the box and make people stay out of that. You know, like the white lines in the yard. The other thing is Trojan looks like he wants to nibble on people's fingers. YAY Trojan! You and Ormond are my kind of horses in these disrespectful crowds. 🐴

John, you can't go to jail. Everyone likes you. I can think of a lot of tourists from videos that should have gone to jail.😊

I watch all your videos and the one thing amazes me are people walking three and four across the sidewalk will never move over and let people going the other way room for everyone to get by them. Do the Guards go back and forth with the long winter uniforms because of weather? I enjoy watching and learning from your videos. Thank you so very much for the dialogue as we watch. So many say nothing and you don’t get any information from the video except what you see and try to understand. God Bless. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻

I really dislike all the hands put on the horses. Yes, the horses take it with a grain of salt, but thnk about it.. would you allow a hundred or more strangers a day to come up and touch your cat or your dog?

It’s ridiculous how many people have to touch the horses as for touching my dog she would take your hand off being a Patterdale Terrier lol

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again .. there’s no wonder these poor horses are having meltdowns on a regular basis.. being mauled by tourists on a daily basis … anyone who thinks this is normal should take a look at their own behaviour …

I worry when hearing that two of the horses are in the equine hospital. I keep telling myself that this may be because of how doevial these horses are that they get the full package buy the reports on the horsesvseem down played when they were hurt enough to be hospitalized. I work with many special and extremely expensive horses, but if at all possible we do as much medical and surgical care at the stable they call home as its more comforting for yhem and they are less stressed. When i have a horse brought into the hospital to be treated where they have to deal with a strange place full od people they do not know, doing things they do not understand, with horses around them not from their herd, it has to be criyicsl enough to put the horse through that as well as the procedure to be done. Then again I dont know how these things are done in the UK or if this hospital is part of the guard facilities and the horses are around horses they know and people they have seen before. Either way, hospitalization to me says the injuries were perhaps being down played for public sensibilities. Lets not forget thst horses, no matter how will trained, do experience stress and it does accumulate. These horses are teased and bullied by the public and also pick up on the emptions their riders are feelings that they are trained to not show. Those 5 horses that made a break for it may have had a lot of compounded stress and a loud, sudden unfamiliar noise was just the cherry on the top and they had the mother of all meltdowns. These horses are used to parading on the streets of London but certainly not when filled with moving traffic and pedestrians. A police horse out in traffic and on the streets everyday would have no trouble dashing through traffic as they are familiar with vehicles and crowds and could probably do it without so much as brushing up against anything. The guard horses would have broken out expecting acopen space to run to safety and found themselves in the madness of London traffic and instead of reaching a place to calm down they were faced with a situation that just escalated their panic.

Did all four riders get thrown when the horses were spooked? John you are very wicked making fun of the starving and penniless Tourons 🤣

That horse is hilarious!! He's the only horse I have ever seen who needs a head pole to make him keep his head facing forward simply standing there. Head poles are for Standardbred Race Horses, Trotters & Pacers (in America, we also have Pacers). Head poles keep their neck & head facing straight ahead so they run straight. Otherwise, they bend their backs & run crooked in the sulky & make a break in stride.
