The Lonesome Road Blues - This blues-tinged song of uncertain origin is widely known and recorded as "Going Down the Road Feeling Bad". Fiddler Tommy Jarrel remembered the tune "coming 'round" about 1918 or so.

Saw a banjo player kick this off with no accompaniment till the second break and they all came in one by one. I will never forget thinking all that music is coming from the one banjo player! I’m gonna do that …. I was 15. Lonesome Road Blues was the tune that got me started, How bout you other pickers, what was your tune? RB-250 with a Huber TR, Stelling Golden Cross with lost timber rim, deering in maple, and my late fathers 1956 Martin D-18………Nice pickin

Awesomely good my friend! I hear some syncopation here that just seals the deal!
@Marcel-Arendsen3 жыл бұрын
I also thought it would sound nice with a few syncopations. Kind of hard to find the places where they would fit best. Especially in a traditional song that's been played so often and where people might not expect it. Thanks for listening and your comment Greg!

@Marcel-Arendsen3 жыл бұрын
Hello Jeff, thank you for your comment. I work full time and therefore don't really have time for online tutorials at the moment. In 3 years I will retire and hope to be able to put more time into it. Maybe I'll release tabs or videos with close ups of both hand positions.

@Marcel-Arendsen2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ed, on this video I play my Ome Columbine I. I also have a Deering Tenbrooks banjo. Both are super instruments!
@jimsatterfield8748Ай бұрын
I notice you don't use the "X" and "y" positions in your right hand placement as earl oftern moves his right hand very close to the frets when he venture up the neck. Sweet sounding banjo, though.
@Marcel-Arendsen26 күн бұрын
Jim, your observation is correct. I keep playing in the X position because I play solo all the time in my videos. If I play in a band I use the X and Y positions where it supports the band the best.

Hi David, thank you for your comment. I was experimenting with my microphone settings. In my headphones it sounded good but when I posted it, the sound was indeed muffled. I now know how not to do it LOL.
