I have a '94 SC300 (2JZ-GE, 5-speed manual) with an aftermarket turbo (338 rwhp @ 13 psi). For years I was plagued by exhaust leaks between the head and manifold. I finally fixed the issue. Some of the studs had stripped out of the aluminum head and I installed Helicoils. The other issue was that the cast iron manifold itself was warped. It had to be removed and the mating face machined flat. I reinstalled the manifold with doubled graphite gaskets between it and the heads. I also fabricated and installed an 1/8" thick solid copper gasket between the manifold and turbo. Since those repairs I haven't had any further issues with the engine.

hi everyone couple quick tips for building jzs as I have done a few, stock bottom end 2jzge non vvti are great just chuck a gte oil pump and crank trigger setup on them with a gte inlet cam with the cam trigger and you have a 9.5-1 comp 500whp reliable every day setup. personally I throw a 1jz head on them and run around 22psi of boost on e85 as when you put a 1jzgte head on the comp goes over 10-1. but there's a 500+hp setup for under 1k. happy drifting

Hands down this is the best put together jz info I've seen. Like you were bringing up there is so much contradicting and confusing info ntm you just don't know if the source is reputable usually.
@suicidewashsquad11466 жыл бұрын
Most of this is very good information but I do have a few things to add, #1 the Pistons on the vvti 2jzge crack on the ringlands over 350whp if you don't have a great tuner, #2 the ge's doesn't have oil squirters in the block so people that drift tend to want to run them because of the better oil pressure because of lack of them, #3 an the reason why 1jzge head's are so popular on 2jzge's is because the intake manifold front facing, #4 an this is very important the stroke on a 1j is 71.5 an a 2j is 86 so by All rights they shouldn't be interchangeable I've never verified this but I don't see how it's possible, #5 Journal 1 on the 2j is 23mm and the rest are 20mm an all the journals on a 1j is 20mm, #6 vvti is great for drifting but not so much for drag after 600hp or so it's not useful an that's why big hp guys don't run vvti an the big hp guys that bought vvti 2jzge's just because of there availability eliminate the vvti system an run non vvti cams.

Thanks for the addition!
