What specifically destroys drift tires and how to get more laps out of a set? I always want to get the most laps out of a set of drift tires possible, and I work hard to do it. Harder than most people realize. I designed Lone Star Drift rules around the idea. I designed Lone Star Drift media around the idea. I think that if everyone tries to become a Formula D driver in a non Formula D format, that they will burn themselves out drifting far before they should, while causing a ton of stress and heart ache in their hobby. Crazy competition drifting setups have their place, but you should know where that time and place is in order to utilize your money to the best possible level.
So in this episode we check out the tire wear on a bunch of Kenda Tires and a few others, and talk about the blistering of tires due to too much heat. We talk about bad alignments and how to fix them. We talk about tire life in general. We talk about why too hard of a compound is a bad idea because the tires can't take the heat. We talk about a lot of things. Typically this refers to 240sx, e36, e46, 350z, g35, and those types of chassis from low horsepower to moderate horsepower. Please enjoy!

A cool way I have found to extend tire life is using a water squirter for the rear tires. Mine sprays with an on switch over 30miles per hour. The tires still grip but the grip level and tire temps are decreased a good bit.

I was running older feddys on my car in Japan and I did a whole ebisu matsuri on one set. They chunked a little but they were in such good shape I drove home on them 4 hour drive.

Camber helps not just heat but weight distribution too. Its pressing harder on the inside so increased friction is on the inner side.

I was wondering why my pair of kendas started chunking like that after a day at musselman. Makes way more sense now. I think I got 70 - 80 laps in my Z there all day after already doing 40-50 at the Phoenix track from two other events. Thanks for the explanation
