Thanks, Brother, for your service. I flew Back Hawks and later Apaches. Been to the Middle East twice. I am so happy to be home with my beloved wife of 42 years. Our youngest son and his wife live 5 minutes from us. He still wants mom and dad close by.

So powerful Sir....I remember my Mom and Sister, traveled from Corpus Christi to Killeen, 2003, before my Co. flew the next day to the desert. My Mom and sister, had no idea, in the middle of the night, which barracks I was at, at North Ft.Hood....only the Angel of God, his mighty hand, cause my Mom and Sister to park their car in front of my barracks and she looked around and asked a soldier, where 887th Co was and the soldier said, Ma'am, your looking at the barracks. Praise the Lord how mighty God is. I was in shock my when I saw my Mom and Sister, we embraced, hugged, spent time together, prayed and next day, my family was there to see me off to the desert in Kuwait 2003. Going to be Twenty years ago!!! God is good!!!

As a former member of the NYPD and current retired PAPD officer who worked on 09-11-01, I've been listening to this song quite a bit leading up to today, the 20th anniversary of that fateful day. Everytime I hear it I'm brought to tears thinking about the words. "Im already there, take a look around, I'm the sunshine in your hair, I'm the shadow on the ground..." Words that many people did not get a chance to say to their love ones. Thank you for this beautiful song. May God Bless Us All.

I know this song is for veterans, but I remember my mom always singing this. We lost my dad many years ago due to heart issues, and this song always brought her to tears because the lyrics made her feel like my dad was talking right to her. I always wondered why the song made her sad, and one day she explained it to me. So this song does hold a special place in my memories, and it did for her until the day she passed away as well.

This song always reminds me of my dad, he used to travel up and down the country as an engineer and every evening when my mother would be cooking, on his way home from work he'd call to tell us how far away he was and what time he would be home for tea ❤️ I was always a daddy's girl and we were close but I didn't realise how much he was my best friend until after he died. Every day I wish I could spend another day with him and see his sparkly eyes when he spoke to me, I'd love to be able to tell him how much I adore him and how much I love him and how priceless he is to me, I pray one day we'll be reunited again

As a trucker gone from home a month or more at a time I think of my wife and kid every time I hear this. I think there should be a video remake with truckers in the video or oil rig works. My dad worked away all week on the RR, prob like a trucker, as he was only home a few days a week. I never really got to see my dad in the 40+ yrs i knew him (he passed away at age 74, i was 44 at the time. I was glad when he took early retirement at age 62 or i wouldn't have ever gotten to spend more time with him, which is the only good thing i can say about my disability of severe pain; it gave me time to spend with him. I agree, no disrespect at all to the military, they risk their lives, but like you say, a lot of people have to be away from their families just to support them. I can remember waving thru the window every Sun night as he drove away. He would turn on the dome light so we could see him waving back. I know he cried when my brother & i would hug him good bye sometimes. Lord do i miss him. Sorry Josh that you have to be away from your family for so long, always be careful so you can come home safe to your family.

Josh Blanchard You are welcome fellow life traveler! I hope that the roads have been kind to you & that you have been able to be with you family more. Love is all we have in this world to hold onto that's good, & with this hatred & violence going on in the world, in my opinion, b/c of a hateful, vindictive, controlling candidate, i am very worried for the world. You give the family a few extra hugs next time you have to leave. You have my admiration for doing what is prob a hard job, going thru the unknown sometimes & long, lonely stretches. Take care, friend. From a woman who just gets no one to talk to sometimes except family who live nearby but don't get me wrong, i love them, but love to hear the stories of other people in this world & of their struggles. Take care!

Thank you for your condolences. I miss him everyday. Everytime i hear this song I smile. My hope is one day he gets the justice he deserves. He was murdered by a woman that he had married. In less than a year of being with her he died at the age of 45. She poisoned him with prescription drugs and cashed in on a $130,000.00 life insurance policy. He was husband number 6. No one ever cared to investigate or help us his daughters. I hope and pray one day there is justice for my father Randy Jolley 🙏 he was a good man and never deserved to die. I miss you Dad.

It still holds strong in my heart, and I hope it remains strong in the hearts of others. God bless those in the services, who've retired from it, and especially those who never left. My dad spent 27 years in the Navy. He was deployed to Korea and Vietnam. I used to look out the window every night thinking he wouldn’t come home and watch the news and worry he was one of the soldiers who was killed. I was lucky, he came back. There are so many kids whose parents didn’t make it back. This song breaks my heart. It was every day of my life. Please remember and help those kids whose parents didn’t come back.

But, yes, all of those children whose parents did not come back during those years. A lifetime of loss. And then, of course, the ones who came back but were never the same....Then and now. Mine passed away to. Him and I are really close we hung out together all the time when I was a kid. Then when my step grandma passed away he came to live us and it was like old times again. He started getting sick all the time with sea diff and pneumonia and he had copd and lots of other problems it got to the point where he was miserable he could no longer eat regularly and he began to lose tons of weight. He wasn't happy he started to get demicha really by that time only time he was happy was when family came to visit him in the nursing home I went as often as I could.then one day day I got a text from my mom at work telling me he had passed away. I tried to hold back crying because I was at work but I couldn't and just lost it on my way up to the front of the store to. this was the song that made me think of him. I had prayed one night. I knew his time was running short so I prayed that when he passed that he would have no pain that he would do it peacefully in his sleep and that's exactly what happened. I am praying for you as well. And my grandpa was in Vietnam

Here now in 2022 we the one's who made this far must be thankful for those that went before and paved the way. Let us always remember our soldiers that fought and died for us and that defend us. Our first responders and medical professionals who put it all on the line and stood in the gap for us during the pandemic. Last but never least many sung and unsung heroes who rose to the occasion, who saw and acted. Many cries were issued and hearts with compassion stepped forward. Sincerely to all of you that do the things we take for granted. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May God bless you all. Stay safe. Stay strong.

My son died suddenly a few months ago. This song reminds me that now he's everywhere - he's all around me, in me, with me. Thanks.

My dad died in 2000 when I was 8 and growing up, this is the song I'd play on repeat whenever I missed him so much and wanted to feel his presence. I'm 30yrs old now. I haven't been in that space for a while, maybe I healed. But last night, I came across a cover of this song on the voice by Kirk Jay and I was so overcome by emotions. I cried for all the ways this song saved me and gave me peace. I am so grateful for art and this music that is so pure. Thanks for sharing love and soul and a place for complicated and far-away love. ❤️🇰🇪

Lonestar was just here for a free concert at Dover AFB in Delaware yesterday. I'm not, nor have I ever been, a big country music fan. I'm actually a diehard metal fan. But even long before ever joining the military Lonestar has always been one of the very few country bands I've liked. While I was unable to go to the show due to having a bad sore throat that left me unable to even talk correctly for a couple of days, I very much thank the band for coming out and putting on a great show that everyone enjoyed including my wife and 6-year-old son who got to be in the front row. This metalhead still loves this song to this day.

This song reminds me of my uncle he was like a dad to me. My uncle use to call me everyday and he would alway say I am coming I am going to be there. My uncle died when I was 5 years old he was the only dad I had and I am almost 23 but I still remember him and what he said.
