Long Live the King!

Have you ever wanted to be a king, but are too lazy to establish your own kingdom? Well, why not take over someone else's throne? With these quick tips, you'll be wearing a crown* in no time.

*For some reason, the crown is unavailable for purchase, I had to open the cheat menu to get it. In previous patches, you could just buy it from a shop. Unlike the crown, the kingdom of Battania was obtained legitimately over the course of several hours.

@@AyooDolo the devs hate us having fun.. There's still a small chance for your target to perish if he falls in battle to the wardens' sharp weapons, but you might have to reload the game several times in order to get the desired outcome.

Just happened to me. Lucon died and replaced with Penton. Penton falls in battle and I was voted to be the ruler of the northern empire! Im only 26 rn in the game! My best run thus far! Its possible!

This happened to me on complete accident on a mercenary Vlandian sandbox campaign. Shortly after becoming a noble, the king died and everyone voted for me to become the new king, quite funny because I was technically the weakest lord at the time.

I was playing a Battanian vassal campaign, where I planned to stay a vassal and help them conquer Calradia, when Caladog died and I got elected High Queen without even trying!🤣 Honestly, if you’re not in a hurry, and plan to stick with one faction, you’ll just naturally build up relation with your fellow vassals-most notably by marrying your relatives into their faction. In the campaign I mentioned, I got a lot of relation that way because it was long enough for me to not only marry myself and my siblings into a few clans, but to marry my children and nieces and nephews into some others! If you are in a hurry, though, then of course you’ll have to resort to some more…expeditious means!😈

I personally prefer being a vassal, as I can engage in warfare without worrying about managing the kingdom. But if you're under heavy attack from all sides and Caladog is just chilling in Marunath while Battania is losing territory, it might be time for someone else to assume the burden of leadership. :)

The fact that they just give you random things like castles and towns is a cool thing at first, but sometimes they’ll just throw you a rundown with high Garrison cost so it’s best to just give it back away. I am just now learning these things.😅

I was unaware of this mechanic 4 months ago when all I was doing was attempting to gain a strong foothold in Empire Territory of the Southern Empire. Rhaegea died of old age and then.... I completed my objective, and then some. It was during Story Mode.

I was a started out as a trader became a vassal of Vlandia. I got drug into a war with the Aserai I took Quaz by Luck with 40 guys. The war was started by the king but fought and funded for by me. And then this guy went and started a war with 4 more nations and they gut cut off at the peninsula cross thru. So I backed out and kept all my possessions. Which was 1 city 5castles and 6villages. I was the soul owner of a non labeled independent nation since my Rank is still under 4.. the Aserai were cool tho. I began interacting with all their lords and ladies and winning all their tournaments. Giving everyone gifts. Now I'm at 100% with the Aserai. And im.not even a vassal. I fought off like 20 big attacks then they just stopped showing up. I took a small army of 150 and was seeing what was up. Ended up catching the King of Vladia slacking traveling back from a siege. Killed all his men took him prisoner and ended up rescuing the Aserai princess.. escorted her home offered my hand to marry her he Paid me 5k coins I married her now we have 1 kid and she's got another on the way. I just executed the king of vladia for war crimes.. after keeping him prisoner for a month. He didn't want peace.. so I just killed him..

Chances for heroes to die in battle have been significantly reduced. I think there's only a 2% chance for it to happen.

I ended up becoming king of Vlandia three times in my first playthrough. The first two times I had no say in it; the votes were 100% in my favor so I just abdicated immediately thereafter. On the third time around since there were only 3 kingdoms left on the map I just went with it. It does make it a pain in the ass when trying to convince vassals of other factions to join you because they all end up despising you.

I haven't tested this method lately, but last I played Bannerlord, it was almost impossible to get my king to resign. But in order for it to even have the smallest chance of success, you do need to activate hero deaths.

Probably not... unless you execute them. But even if you enabled hero death, this method has a 90% chance of not working, because lords are no longer thrown into dungeons, instead they're being dragged along with the party that captured them.

In one of my attempts, I joined the Vlandians and accidentally threw 2 javelins at Derthert's head. When the battle was over, the lords chose Calatild as their next monarch, and not even my 150 influence vote was enough to change that outcome. From what I've seen, lords who like you will always support you when it comes to kingdom decisions, and that includes being picked as the next ruler.

The game must make politics more real, dynasties and houses and blood relations besides politics and alliances is what defined the name of rulers in medival times, overthrowing an entire dynasty that has heirs to the throne with all of its loyal influential people is quite a hard tasm to do, rarelydone without a revolution or foreign complete annexation of the country

Yeah, that method was nerfed quite significantly... about 2%, I think... As for the first method I described, it's very rare for a king to be thrown in the dungeon of a city even if he does get himself captured, so I don't know what other tips I could give for this, other than downloading mods such as "Death for All".

when you break a lord out of prison, the knives you throw don't hurt the lord. and even if you let the lord die during the breakout, he doesn't die. he just faints

Yeah I’m doing a play through with the south empire and Rhagaea has been captured, I tried to do both of those two things and none of them work. I also have Hero’s dying on enabled so I think the devs might’ve taken this out of the game :(

It CAN work, but you'll need to save the game before a prison break attempt. Then you need to let the target get downed by an enemy with a sword, and if it's not an outright death, reload. So far, I'd say there's a 10% chance of your target actually getting slain, instead of the 100% that was valid at the time of making this video.

It's a bit rare for lords to get thrown into a dungeon nowadays, most nobles prefer to drag their prisoners around in their own parties, but if stars align and your king gets imprisoned, you can sneak into town and *try* to rescue him. Of course, because you're clumsy, you won't be able to, but it's the thought that counts.

@@chieftainodin6413 everyone has a chance to die from non-blunt damage, including you, but that chance is extremely small. Also, when you're in the game, press Esc (or whatever the alternative is on console) to bring out the pause menu and click Campaign Options. In that menu, make sure that battle deaths are enabled.

Nobles have a 100% chance of dying if struck by a bladed weapon in the middle of a prison break. If the wardens hit them with maces, they just get knocked out.

I build armies take every town and castle, always let the beaten lords leave peacefully and still have -10 to -100 reputation with many lords and king of the clan (western empire) what i am thinking is to kill every - reputation lord like in the video but i have 300 medic skill so this tactic is hard to achieve i dont know what to do :( edit: my problem is i took all the castles and towns, beat the rival clans leaders all the time and %90 percent of the time other lords get the fiefs its not good i feel like being used and treated poorly :((

I initially came up with this method during patch 1.5.9., so it should work just fine. But prison shanking may not be reliable, luckily for you, there's another method for regicide. Minute ~33 in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/faewnYp5rJuYaNE should describe everything.
