Long Pine and Plum Creeks, Nebraska

I made a quick run up to the Sandhills and hit Long Pine Creek and Plum Creek. I didn't have any luck on the bigger downstream part of Long Pine (Pine Glen WMA) but did better upstream at the Rec Area. I had a some time to check out Plum Creek too. I only had a little time there before storms rolled in but, although I didn't catch anything, I saw a couple nice big browns up close. I'm definitely coming back.

Fished plum 27 years ago. Caught loads of chunky 12 and 15 in. browns. Started at hiway 20 and fished to the north.

New to Nebraska fly fishing. Thanks for sharing your videos. I heard hopper, prince and copper john. I also saw an indicator. Can you describe each setup, including lineweight, leader, tippet, and lures?

That's really cool - never really knew anything like this existed in Nebraska. It's still 6 plus hours from me in Colorado, but dang if it isn't tempting. Too many places on the list for sure.

This is why Nebraska is great. Everyone drives on I-80 and think it’s Kansas. The trick this prairie state has is there are pockets of beauty with ugly plains surrounding it. The true hidden gem state.

Nice video. Normally you don’t think of Nebraska as a trout fishing destination. Were you using an indicator on your nymph rig or a dry fly and a dropper rig?

I think I was just using an indicator with two nymphs at the start and then switched to a hopper dropper.

Right now I'm using a Hero 7. I'm thinking of upgrading but this one's been working pretty well.
