What do you think? What'd we get right or wrong about our takes here? Comment below! Thanks as always for tuning in...

I bristle whenever I hear Finn describe Satisfy as "Punk Rock". To whatever extent that term means anything anymore Satisfy is about the furthest thing from it. They're a luxury fashion brand masquerading as a running brand. If Urban Outfitters sold $140 bedazzled Misfits t-shirts, that'd be Satisfy.

Omg I loved Brett’s rant about Puppi leaving Nike LMFAO 🤣. Good show boys 🤙

Wonderful conversation as usual with lots of great insights, information and humor. BTW David runs 1/4 mile with the weights, and then removes them for his warm up, which is then followed by his speed workout.

Brett nailed it. As a fan of the sport, a fan of the tech, a fan of Francesco Puppi...I almost couldn't care less about him leaving Nike. There's clearly a faction of the fan base that cares about this stuff (as evidenced by Freetrail, for example, dedicating an entire Fantasy Free Agent section to it and doing multiple long-form podcasts on the topic), but I'd wager that most people just don't care.

Good fun episode , enjoyed that, as should be the case, on my long run,. you need to talk about Christian Allen's 2:10 at Houston!, is that the quickest mara time from a trail runner?

I feel like the Nike moth tech is probably going to be at a better price point than the $140 satisfy is charging. I love Satisfy, but charging $390 for a merino long sleeve is a bit excessive. There aren’t many runners out there able to willingly spend that on one item

That was a great podcast. And yes more athletes and media ought to seek out non endemic sponsors. Maybe Noosa yogurt or what ever else products you enjoy. Also I might be in St George UT soon. Where to run? Whom to connect with?

Appreciate ya listening ! I’m up in Salt Lake City..Saint George is about 4 hours south of me..unfortunately, I’m not too familiar with the trail systems down there..

Your in-person chemistry raised how much for the Aravaipa Blimp? Definitely money in that format! Maybe crowd fund Brett's commute. 😆

Get Sally and Francisco Puppi on same podcast to have positive and negative attitude towards Nike. I think Satisfy will not be too big. I challenged them at TRE why the shoe cost less than the shirt. I had to sign NDA so still can’t share pictures. They seem to be a bit too legal focused at the moment. Brett doesn’t need to move. Just have video with 4-5 in same format with KZbin video. The big podcasts in bodybuilding do it that way. You can do that coffee talk now. Both you guys are very fast. The boulder boys are fast but not many listen to them yet. You guys are hanging with Swap and Freetrail. Make it happen

I don’t necessarily think language is the only, or even main, problem for trail media, though it certainly doesn’t help. But Italian, French, Spanish, German, these are languages more than capable of supporting robust sports journalism even for smaller sports, so it is more complicated. Polestar are quite popular and common here in the Nordics, though in Norway about 95% of new car sales are fully electric, so its a very different landscape than you guys are used to 😄

Also, I want to add Puppi is a gd saint in my book, but its not that surprising that a trail runner switching sponsors isn't huge news. Even most people who listen to podcasts are probably mostly looking for the race reports and interviews, not so much the inside baseball/industry stuff. Or maybe the apparent success of Second Nature is proving me wrong here, idk.

Even in bigger sports like basketball, endorsement deals aren’t big news

Satisfy will likely be able to stay who they are at their core, despite perhaps more visibility moving forward. I think Norda is in a similar position, and certainly those two could probably make an interesting complementary collaboration. Without the stress of external factors of other pursuits / and share holders more interested in money over intent, only good things for “dirtbag” US customers.

Hoka outsourced most work. I think that’s entry level job. Outside PR gets most marketing tasks. Invite them on. Lance Armstrong says 3hr bike =1hr run
@runsingletrack13 күн бұрын
They’re outsourcing athlete management, you think?
@Runnerrwe13 күн бұрын
@@runsingletrack could be with one direct contact at Hoka. I think it’s someone that handles many things like you mentioned. Outside PR handles all shoe marketing and influencers
