I remember when the conductor would go on the ground and do a roll -by inspection. I haven't seen that for a while. I'm guessing they don't do that anymore. 🤔🇺🇲
@PacificNWRailfanАй бұрын
They don't do it very much at all John. Once in a blue moon, I'll see the conductor get off the train to do a roll by and on occasion I'll hear the crew give the passing train a highball but not get out of the cab. You would think the railroad would require roll by inspections (the actual get off your ass and go look) for safety reasons if nothing else! Thanks for watching my friend!

@@brandonching6087 Yes, I understood that. After reading what you wrote about NS retiring all their SD70ACE's, I looked up what BNSF was doing and was surprised to learn that they were retiring some of theirs also.

I am noticing a pattern with a westbound mixed freight in your videos. It seems that one consists of a lot of empty centrebeams, appears during daylight hours, and is usually longer than other trains, normally reaching into the 140 car range. Assuming this train terminates in Pasco (which most mixed freight on this line), where do you believe the origin point is?
@PacificNWRailfan13 күн бұрын
If you notice, the eastbound mixed freights usually have a large amount of loaded centerbeams on them, hence the large number of empty return centerbeams. As for the origin point, I would guess it to be Chicago. Thanks for watching my friend!
