I have recently started watching these videos and I am so impressed. I guess I am my fathers image and what he truly loved to do is the same things in this video. My father passed in 2017/Oct and when I watched these videos it reminds of him and began to cry a little. If he was here we would sit down with a bowl of chili and watch all your videos. I spent hours watching my father turn a piece of wood into something beautiful all my life and I have to say thank you for bringing back these similar memories in my head that I so enjoyed.

Can u share the best type of flour yo use. My mom and I have both tried her old bread recipe that we grew up on (we could smell it baking outside on the sleds riding hill and run home to eat it) but it has not turned out. They have ruined flour imo by adding bromaine. This has to be why her bread doesn't smell or taste the way it used to. Idk...please help lol

You probably have a different perspective and perception of the time put in, but IMHO you have come a long way in a short time! Good to hear the BP is back in the good range as well, which is no small accomplishment. Best to you and happy legumes!

My wife and I love watching your videos. It is so peaceful. And your recordings and your editing the video is awesome. We have been debating whether you purchase or not the flat rough saw boards. But tonight we saw your jig with the chain saw for ripping logs. To say the less, we are very impressed. My Dad lived in northern Wisconsin, USA, and he built an underground house with one whole side all windows. He used the power take-off on an old tractor to drive a saw mill to cut his own trees in building his house. But you are completely off-grid, and the using your jig and chain saw to rip logs solved our debate -- my wife won!

I love how aside from the new things that you are building for the cabin, I also enjoy seeing all the other miscellaneous things that are new to the shelter as well, maybe cooking tools, blankets, pillows, just random bits and bobs. Another thing I really enjoy is how you never rush anything. You go at your own pace and never seem in a hurry, rather you relish everything and thoroughly seem to enjoy every moment. It’s really enlightening. Cabin looks outstanding and I’m only a couple episodes into season 2. Again, amazing work Shawn.

Shawn, epic as always. I'm a convert to sourdough (I use your recipe!) Keeping it simple really works out cheap with food, our grandparents had the right idea. Grow some too and it's even better. kerryithm2 is right, I believe, fermentation is great, this year is the beginning of my adventure into fermentation, awesome food that tastes great (dead easy too). Happy Easter from Oz.

if you keep bees you can always make mead ... and it does an excellent job in low concentrations of keeping water safe to drink .... something like 1 cup mead to 4L water .... so i hear anyway . not to mention the fresh honey and access to beeswax for candles and all the flowers and blooming food stuff you could grow to feed the bees and have the bees aid in better crop yields ... and bolster bee colonies at the same time ;)
