We live in rural Nebraska and we can get snowed in in the winter or mudded in in the Spring or Summer. We keep a rotating pantry and have 2 stand up freezers for frozen foods/meats. All of this was a big blessing in 2020.

I think everyone should be prepping. So many different things could happen even a personal emergency not to mention a national emergency and prepping could be a game changer. I would very much appreciate seeing the lists you use/used as well as some of your "Survival" gear. The northern lights video was beautiful. Hope Bert's ankle is ok and doesn't cause him any grief.

Can you show us how you rotate the shorter terms foodstuffs, and how you are able to be able to trust the long-term stuff?
@ChiefsGirlSince1989
@ChiefsGirlSince1989 3 жыл бұрын
It's easy to rotate you put the newly purchased items behind the older items. I do it twice a week where I work.
@earthstar7534
@earthstar7534 3 жыл бұрын
I rotate once a year. I pull all of my short term out and inventory it and restock. Soonest to expire goes in the front. I am lucky enough to have two pantry spaces so I have my working pantry and storage pantry. Short term storage is good for a year or more so you can get away with rotating once or twice a year. You have to inventory it anyway to restock so its a good opportunity to rotate. As far as the long term storage, its made to store like that. Its why its more expensive.

WOOHOO you finally captured the Northern Lights awesome... y'all I finally had an answer to my prayer my daughter left her abusive husband... Now all she needs is a restraining order and a divorce... Could you all please pray for protection for us and healing for her. Her husband's on drugs and he's threatened to burn the house down with us in it... My daughter loves her husband but she just can't take it anymore she told me she says mom I have too big of a heart... She has three small children from a previous relationship and he has been keeping her from them I've been taking care of them and so has my mother.. Please pray for us .

We are in El Paso and the storm spared us but destroyed many houses going East!! I would love to hear your tips. We dont have a basement in our house (we live near the Rio Grande!). In 2011, our area froze creating havoc with every house here!! Thousands of houses had water pipes burst! The construction companies use stucco siding which doesnt insulate well!! We bought a brick home built in 1978 which was built to be sturdy!! I'm concerned about storing. We have a garage but it's not temp controlled. Where do you recommend storage if there is no basement?

vacuumed sealed powered milk can be kept from 2 to 10 years. i lived in california north and south for 53 years. i've lived through 3 7.0+ earthquakes. i always lived in an apartment and and there was little storage but i stored canned foods as much as i could. believe me, it's not just covid. if you are ever in a big earthquake you're not running to the grocery store. so people need to be aware of what events happen in their state that would keep them from venturing out of the house.
