Would you travel with your Mom long term? We invited my Mom to travel with us in May of 2023. She loved the idea, downsized everything back at home, and now she is either slow traveling with us or stays with one of my siblings back in the States. We asked for questions to ask her on Facebook, and this is the interview I did with her to get her perspective on long term travel, her biggest fears while traveling, and whether or not I am her favorite child.
00:00 - Intro
00:36 - I'm Peggy
01:22 - Was it a hard decision to travel?
01:57 - What was the preparation like?
02:34 - Is the family supportive of your travel?
03:30 - How did you feel when (Robb) first traveled abroad?
04:25 - What concerns did you have?
05:49 - How hard was it to pack?
08:11 - What have you learned to leave behind?
08:43 - Where have we been?
10:11 - Who is your favorite child?
10:38 - Where is your favorite place we've visited?
12:04 - Tell us about the food!
14:15 - Have you ever felt unsafe?
20:23 - Are you an Introvert?
23:43 - Is it challenging traveling with two guys?
25:09 - Do you prefer slow travel or fast travel?
26:18 - How do you keep in touch?
27:29 - Do you feel limited by your age?
28:46 - Mom vs Travel Companion

36:16 - Do you see changes in Robb because of travel?

Thanks for all of the sweet comments! But I'm curious, have you traveled with a parent or adult child long term? Would you want to?

My sister and I didn’t do long term travel with our dad but we did three weeks in China and Vietnam with him. I loved the time and memories that we made with him. We did discover a few rules for travelling with dad. 1-he made sure to buy luggage, a back pack, and clothes with as many pockets as possible. Those pockets made many many things disappear, including his passport, wallet, and boarding passes! Lol 2-never let dad have more than one pocket. PS. Mom n Dad JUST found more treasures from our trip in 2015 in a POCKET in some luggage two weeks ago! Lol. 3-don’t let dad eat all the hot peppers at dinner. He loves hot food but did not account for just how hot the food could be.

@@dawnturner8735 That is funny about the pockets. How fun to find little reminders so many years later! 🤣

OMG. Peggy your interview was so inspirational ! Me and my son enjoyed listening to the 3 of you. But guess what, I am 73, my son is 50, he is a widower , his husband is no longer here. And my name is also Peggy. Imagine ! We now live together in Palm Springs and will begin traveling to Spain, Portugal, and other countries around Nov this year. Point is, thank you , we totally enjoyed. Stay sweet, take care ❤️. Oh, 3 days ago I fell ( uneven cement) sprained my ankle. 😳

I'm so happy for you that you get to spend all this time together having amazing experiences. My mom loved traveling and I was able to do just a few trips with her before she contracted dementia. I'm glad we got to do anything at all...and I wish it had been more. Enjoy every moment.

Omgosh, I loved this and Robb, you are my favorite Robb! 😊 First and foremost as your Aunt, I have thought you and David were tops for giving my sweet sister more than anything I could think of to help her through her hard time! You will never know what that has meant to me. I love her so very much! Now what a great video. Peg, you are beautiful and full of life and love which makes you so dang loveable. This video answered most all my questions and it was so delightful. It really portrayed the genuineness of how to make this kind of traveling doable. I totally enjoyed every bit of it. I must say as a mom... who wouldn't love this opportunity. Just to be so loved and watched over and enjoyed as a mom! I love you all! ❤️ 💙

This was a fun listen! Curious if being out in the world has opened your mind about your religion? I know you can really see certain religious groups exploiting in other countries. Of course you see it here in the US. But curious if you see it in your travels.
