My initial impressions of the machine were good. A few modifications and now its GREAT. Reviewing the Longer B1 30 watt after several days of use.

Love your style in the videos. Great explanations and your admitting to mistakes makes me feel like I can continue learning and not beat myself up when I find errors in my work. Do you have a video where you build the enclosure you are using for the Longer B1? Also, do you offer the test file you show on your Etsy page or somewhere else? I bought the 20 watt version and would love to do similar tests. I'm pretty new to the laser hobby and would love an assist in testing the laser.

I don’t have anything on the current enclosure. I use test files that I generate in the lightburn tool. Under laser tools

Thanks for sharing this. I have the Longer 10watt and have said, from the beginning, that the air assist nozzle was too large. Now I have to figure out how to solve the issue and get mine working better. I does good but maybe a smaller nozzle will stop my charring to. But, of course, I just need larger and more power🤣🤣

Have u tried flipping the Part and burn 1 cut from the bottom side. I realize there is a programming and positional hardships to overcome but it MIGHT overcome the heave charring and pitting.

A little sanding and it works out. For what they are used for, perfection isn’t required.

In the diode family, Atomstack A70 Max, Sculpfun S30 ultra or Neje 3 Max are about the only options currently.

I guess it doesn't like me putting a link to a website. But will the air assist nozzle that they sale on Longers website fit a B1 30 or 40 watt so if I order one will it help it is a 2.5 mm. Thanks

I am thoroughly impressed with my new Longer B1 36 and as the stock air assist pump is just OK, I added an external "fish air pump" to my system. I bought extra 2 pin "aviation" type connectors to connect to the 24VDC air assist connection from the Longer B1 to control a relay to switch the 120VAC the external pump requires. Having MUCH electrical design experience, I knew that **most if not all DC relays NEED a "protection diode" across the relay's coil input**. When a DC relay is turned off the collapsing magnetic field produces a "kickback" voltage to the device supplying the voltage to the relay. This voltage can be several hundred volts and this will not be kind to the device supplying the voltage, (your laser). The diode is connected with the Cathode, (little bar end), to the positive DC coil lead and the Anode, (looks like letter A when viewed upright), to the negative DC coil lead.... A typical diode for this use is a 1N4007 - 700 PIV - peak inverse volts, at 1 amp. I would suggest to any user that also hooks up and external AC powered air assist pump controlled by a external relay to use this one dollar part to help prevent damage to your equipment.... My Longer uses pin 1 for the positive 24 volts with pin 2 being negative. Use your voltmeter to be certain....

I use shop air and pneumatic relays. Worked fine for many months now. Thanks
@ainttakenanyshit
@ainttakenanyshit 3 ай бұрын
@@TheClackShack You are lucky. "shop air" is AIR, pneumatic relays use ELECTRICITY. The DC relay has yet to kill the laser by the voltage kickback from when the relay's magnetic field collapses - turns off. I can only point out the dangers of an UN-protecteed relay, the advise is SOLID, and you can feel free to ignore my advise.... LOOK UP RELAY PROTECTION DIODE... DOUBLE-DOG DARE YOU...................

Sorry, I don't recall. A friend on mine has the machine. You should be able to fire the laser on really low power and watch the spot size to determine it. Wearing glasses of course. I use .25% output

Since I am electrically inclined, as are your other viewers, do you care to share the pin-out wiring of the control box connector for the factory air assist connection?? That would be much appreciated by ALL, I'm certain.... Thanks. Hank

Not sure I am following, the cable only has 2 wires in it black and red. I used the stock pigtail for my shop air and tested the outputs.
@ainttakenanyshit
@ainttakenanyshit 3 ай бұрын
@@TheClackShack OK, so the stock circular connector that connects to the control box for the supplied air pump only supplies a switched DC voltage, BLK=neg / RED=pos, that powers their pump, (or an aftermarket pump)?? GREAT. I'll buy an additional plug so as not to destroy the factory pump wiring. Thank you for the info.. Hank

Using a relay is good idea to control a solenoid for shop air, but, to NOT protect your laser's control circuit by using a diode across the relay coil is just plain stupid....

I do not take the parts apart and confirm the wiring. They are made for this application. I guess I am JUST PLAIN STUPID. Have a good day.

@@TheClackShack To clarify, If someone is unaware of a device that will protect something and has not used it, that is just being uninformed. Now, if someone knows of a device to protect something and, chooses not to use it, then, THAT is being stupid.... I'm not saying one way or another about your knowledge base, but, at least I made an attempt to inform the readers that there IS a device that WILL protect your equipment.... **A 1 dollar 1N4007 diode** across a DC relay protects against "back EMF".... cheers....
