Aldo's Ra7 was a so damn slick. --man, i love it when Simon gets on a tear when he's building an attack, that rising enthusiasm and the clock factoring in, it just builds and builds. goddamn i love these long games

If there's one thing I know about Mr. Williams is that he can't stand to be the one not giving up the pawns. Which is why I knew I could bait him into a King's Gambit.....not that it did me any good.

Haha! Despite the loss (no shame against a GM!) , that was a *very* nicely played game. Congrats!

Love the subscriber at 10:19 a quote from La Strada by Fellini! And poor old Simon has no clue how to say it :)

I saw native warrior tribes sacrificing entire villages to make your essence come down, and play a long game in the Kings Gambit.

Nice game! I often play this line with c6/Bd6/Nge7 myself and think it's quite good. The pin on the a2/g8 diagonal was a killer, though. Simon, what's your opinion on the Adelaide Counter Gambit? Ever faced it? No less than Tony Miles called it the "refutation" of the KG. :-)

Silly question. I'm coming to the UK (mainly London) what are some nice places to get a beer play some chess, meet ladies, etc. ? (cheap if possible, you know , that crazy exchange rate)

Ginger are you interested in showmatch vs new A.I. leelaZero... Andrew Tank already played her and other streamers like Chess Network. She learns by self play, currently much weaker than top engines, very interesting playStyle.

1:06:00 tbh that knight move isnt that hard to see if u want counterplay i personally probably wouldve played knight to c6 trying to open up the black queen toward the white king tho (very similar motive in regards to defending the knight with the knight next move tho)
@gofer123guy6 жыл бұрын
actually blitz can be very helpful for learning to quickly reject ideas provided you have a good system in place to start with that admittedly I don't because you have to find a playable move in much tighter time controls so getting hung up on a move for longer is actually much more punishing.

I've got a great book, "Chess: The End of the King´s Gambit?" by Ivan Salgado. I recommend it to everyone. He advocates the Schallop Defense. I am now happier than ever to get the King's Gambit with Black.

Funny how you missed 13. Nc5 OTB and BOTH during the analysis. 13. Nf2 just dropped your evaluation by ~ -0.7 as compared to Nc5 in that position.
