I have run the Heidenau K60 Scout on three different motorcycles over the years... it is probably the "most loved" cult ADV tire out there... simply due to the MILEAGE it can Handle. 12k to 14k per set is pretty much the "norm" for this tire. Double or even triple what most other tires in the segment can handle. Shop the K60 Scout here: www.chapmoto.c...
Thanks for watching!

The K60 Scout rear tire has the strip. The K60 (not Scout) is the better offroad slotted, without the continuous strip. The best combo, which my old ones are, is a Scout up front and non-scout in the rear. (Front scout is a much more aggressive biter)

@@manybikes Welcome! Sadly the non-scout tire is no longer made for 17" rims, and 18's won't fit without a longer swingarm and chain and suspension upgrade to handle that..... Guess it is time to look into other tires. XD

Someone told me they're reformulating the compound to make it softer. I'd never use this tire unless maybe I wanted to ride to Alaska and back on one tire.

You are my favorite tyre tester¡ Puting the tyres to their limits, awesome 👌✌️ I think the older K60 would surprise us in performance, giving up some mileage. They have a silica version for the K60, which should work on cold weathers and wet :)

Alessandro Prescendi silica in a K60! That’s news to me! When did that happen?

@@manybikes long time ago they came out¡ It wasn't a big shout and not many people were aware. Only issue for us in big bikes would be the size of the rear compared to the K60 scout. Don't know if Haidenau does rears of our size. There you hace a review my friend :) defylife.com/travel-gear/motorcycle-equipment/winter-tyre-review-heidenau-k60-silica/

I'm only a year and a half late but I'll chime in anyway. It's called the K60 cold climate and it's rear only as far as I know. I put one on in March and rode it from Reno to south Florida. In June I did the next stage of my trip to Denver. The wear accelerated noticeably in the warmer weather and I took it off in Denver after 7600 miles. Having ridden it through so much rain in June that I started to grow feathers and quack 🦆🦆 I can say it's wet weather performance was outstanding. The cold climate K60 is my favorite rear tire that I have tried so far.

After owning both I felt more confident on the Motoz Tractionator GPS, especially for touring where you'll be experiencing all kinds of shit weather.

Very good tyres for long distance travelling. Difficult to puncture and capable of offroad riding at very low pressures. I've got a new set in a garage ready for my longer trip this summer.

Motolover Mileage and durability- make this tire a winning choice. Dial it back... when you know you are riding in the conditions it doesn’t excel at... and you are golden. There isn’t a tire yet... that we have seen that will know the K60 off its podium.

When you were riding under that bridge on the dirt.. I had to turn the video off... PTSD is a thing, especially after what I did to myself 14 months ago on my BMW F650GS.. I crashed on a dirt road with a similar surface... Broken ankle, three ribs, wrist, and a brain bleed... A month in hospital after a helicopter ride from the crash site.. Now I'm trying to get my mojo back.. The bike is in the process of being rebuilt.. I'm looking for a tyre similar to the Mitas E07 - Ive been told to look at either the K70 Scout or the Ranger... In your opinion, what do you think would be a grippier tyre for riding on gravel or the stuff you were riding on under that bridge?
@manybikes

Oh man! Sorry to hear of your crash! I hope you are healing well. The Ranger is much better off road than the Scout. Why do you not want to stick with the E07?

I have a '14 pair of these on my KLR. They do not have that center strip, but normal slotted lugs. Honestly Heid should have kept them slotted. There are 11k miles on these and plenty of tread on front with about 1/4 left on the center of the rear. Great tires.

Wow, that is a lot of mileage on a non-scout! 3k is all I was able go get on my KTM 950.

@@manybikes Previous rider 180 pounds, mid level spring setting, 2" suspension drop on the KLR650, which has far less power than a 950, plus the bike looks like it has been street only so far. Not a scratch on the plastic or decals. That is about to change. XD

Worthy of comment is that the K60 Scout comes with or without the centre strip depending on tire size. Just installed 80/130;17 on the rear of my KLR and it has no centre strip.

Rob Krochenski Yes, there are a few select sizes without the strip bit 90% do carry the center strip.

Super video job and test with full info 👍👍 if i anderstand well this tire have better performance with a driver with more experience than a new one on big bike adv . you need to know about the pressur tire and how to control big bike of road ... i m new with this kind of bike 3 full saison only 2 with ktm 1290 adv T and now with r1200gs ... i drive k60 with the ktm. and i never put the right pressur for of road i drive 37 and 43.... i never think to put lower pressur for better grip.. now i know more about big bike adv. and with all this review 👍👍👍 and all this info .. thas help a lot thank's Since last year a have compressor in my tool box r1200gs... and i play with the pressur tire it is very easy with the GS and is tft screen .. when you play with the pressur don t put the bike off... just tcheck the pressur on the screen... go up or down..it fun for that...

Man, such great bikes you have! Nice work! The K60 Scout... It needs to be aired down to perform Off-Road. I run at 25 psi in the front and 18 to 20 psi in the rear on my R1200GSA and my KTM 1190 Adv R. The sidewalls and tread are so thick and stiff... it NEEDS it! I run 40 psi on the street... but off-road it really needs to be LOW to allow the lugs to work. Let me know how that feels for you! Thanks for watching! - Kyle

I like these tires I drive mostly paved but I live off gravel and tend to go down gravel from time to time. Would you recommend?
@manybikes
@manybikes 2 жыл бұрын
I typically recommend this tire to people who want total mileage and who are not all about performance. I find the tire lacking in the performance department. A very similar tire with much better performance is the Motoz GPS tire. My next suggestion would be the Dunlop TrailMax Mission tire.
@edene6655
@edene6655 4 жыл бұрын
So if you dont mind me asking. Why dont you just air down the tires before you enter the off road trail, put it back in after you leave it... Every adv rider is carying a compact air compressor these days and use that method anyways. That way you would get a nice grip on the tarmac (as you boast in the video) out of these tires and airing them down for the dirtroads should make the tire sufficient enough if not even great ?
@manybikes
@manybikes 4 жыл бұрын
Great questions. Some manufacturers suggest airing down, and some do not. Some have really high (44 psi) street pressures and some have low (33 psi) max pressures. The feel of the tire and how it reacts varies greatly! With a 10 psi change. This the reason I settled at 30psi for the all around pressure.
