I got the SRPG37, put it on a quality vintage black leather strap. I am impressed, in reality this watch is just perfect. Looking at the reviews, I expected to be bothered by a few things: the thickness, the metal numbers with no lume (my plan was to lume them), the crown at 3, and the crystal. I was wrong about all, I could see it the instant I put it on my wrist, all the choices made sense, the way this watch wears and looks is just awesome. I would not change a thing. I’m a fan and owner of all the older Seiko field watches (and many many other Seikos) and I love them but I have tho say this is the nicest watch Seiko put out in the lower end since their SKX in 1996. I am blown away and never dreamed this would become my favorite watch.

I've had the khaki one for around a month now (UK) and I love it. At first I wasn't sure of the colour as I always think field/military = green or black but I love the colour combo on the face of the khaki one and prefer the inverted day/date. Bought one--great watch. Slightly fast--the way it should be. Made in Japan--a definite plus. Better than Tissot which costs more money. Nato straps are the best--sweat into it a little in summer and it's more comfortable and more durable than leather. Right size, classic military 40 mm. Home run for Seiko.

That 2nd last one is going to be my next watch. Toss the leather and put it on a black nato and it's never going to leave my wrist, SRPG39.

I really wanted to get back into watches about 5 years ago so after watching TGV and your channel among some others I decided it was definitely going to be a Seiko after considering an skx and a field watch I went with the SNZG15J1 and of course it's a "strap monster" so naturally I caught the nato strap bug and bought several different colours, the 2 different styles of Bond straps, a marine Nationale NDC, that TGV has a lot to answer for lol but now it's on a nice thick black rally style strap and that's the strap that has made the watch imo, I could not get the skx out of my system though so naturally I now own one of those as well, I say all that to say this lol, the watches on the leather straps are my favourite of the bunch

That distressed look is called called stonewashed. They use it on knife blades and it helps to hide wear. All the finishes here you can see on knives blades like polished, satin, bead blasted, stonewashed and blackwashed(distressed pvd). Love the look of a few of these but at $275 there's better value out there. Sure lumibrite is better than other lumes but sapphire beats hardlex any day. Today you can get so much for $300. Sapphire with layers of anti glare coating, ceramic bezel that will be aligned 100% of the time unlike Seiko, NH35/36 movement, 200m-500m water resist ratings, unique dials(love the forged carbon fiber on my Phoibos), more than one strap and a nice presentation box with a watch roll at times. Are micro brands as legendary as Seiko? No. I love the few Seikos I have and SKX is a legend in the watch world that inspired many companies. But doing the Seiko shuffle gets old after a while.

Would love to see a side by side with the older SNZG. My SNZG17 at 42mm fits my flat 7" wrists better, but Seiko seems to be listening to the enthusiasts who prefer smaller watches lately. I'm torn. I like the Automatic script, the newer 5 sports shield, the dial color (especially that blue fading to black one) and obviously the improved movement, but the size, the raised chapter ring and the lumed numerals appeal to me on my SNZG17. Suppose I will probably end up keeping the SNZG but would be nice to upgrade the movement someday to get hacking and winding.

Such a great watch, even if it were twice the price. Only two things I don't like. First the rotor is kinda loud. If you rattle your wrist around you can hear it moving. Just kind of annoying. Secondly, it really needs a Sapphire crystal. The crystal it comes with is very reflective and really takes a lot away from an otherwise very attractive dial. I'll be replacing the crystal on mine. Not sure why Seiko wouldn't do this themselves and just charge a little more for the watch,
