Favorite things I’ve noticed after multiple views of this movie: -In Longlegs’ interrogation recording, he says, “and you’ll be there, and you’ll be there, and you’ll be there”; he is speaking directly to agent Browning, Carter, and Harker (in that order) -the opening POV is actually from the veiled doll in the passenger seat -Lee’s mom tells her “I kept all of your things” which is the name of the second chapter in the movie -Longlegs’ electric guitar in the basement. You hear it playing when Lee is opening her mailbox, and you see him buying earplugs for it at the hardware store. I adore the idea that he’s a metal head, because so much of that genre is heavily influenced by satanism -Ruby and little Lee with their matching long braids -Carrie Anne tells Lee that she’s seen her before, which couldn’t be true unless she is talking about her doll seeing Lee when it was found in the barn
@aychelleff
@aychelleff 5 ай бұрын
Additionally I love that in most of the flashbacks of Lee, she’s motionless like a doll (save for the opening scene). We’re almost left to wonder which of them her mother was really speaking to in those scenes

LL says “cuckoo” because cuckoo birds lay eggs in other species of birds’ nests and kick the real eggs out, and then the parent unknowingly takes care of the cuckoo eggs as if they were their own. It’s like how LL was living right under her and plants the dolls in family’s homes.

Great performance from Nic Cage. He said it would be the last time he plays a serial killer, though, because he didn't like playing someone that hurt people. Also, the interview scene between Lee Harker and Longlegs was the first time Maika Monroe saw Nic Cage in costume. Her withdrawn reaction was genuine. ALSO ALSO, a fun tidbit about Nicholas Cage: Nic Cage has a particular skill that he says no other actor possesses: the ability to recognize how high or low he is able to speak without messing up the audio. The story goes, according to Perkins: "The sound guy came over to me one day...(he) comes up to me a couple of days into Nic being on set and he's like 'Oz, I've never seen anything like it. When Nic is mic'd, I'm watching the dials, when Nic goes big, he goes *right* to the line. Anything more, a decibel or two over that, and it would be hard to use. Then he goes down, he goes soft and his whispering and he's barely talking, he goes right to the line. Anything past that line, you wouldn't be able to use it. He knows where the lines are. It's the craziest thing I've ever seen in my life'." Fun movie, great reactions! As always, looking forward to the next movie!

Just in case you don't recognize Lee's mother, that's actress Alicia Witt. Amazingly, she's almost 50. She was the final girl in Urban Legend. She was in an episode of Supernatural going around killing angels because a group had killed her daughter. She was also in the sitcom Cybill with Cybill Shepherd.

-You guys are literally the first reactors to this movie I've seen to point out the analog horror elements, something I wish Late Night with the Devil had done better, good job. -Longlegs actually wanted to be a glam rocker according to the director. -Again, according to the director, for once the devil had no plans for world domination or destruction; the events orchestrated by him were for the sole purpose of making Lee Harker kill her own mother who had killed others for so long just to protect her. -The Harkers weren't Longlegs' first victims, but Ruth was the first "she" to agree to make nice with Longlegs and help him.

Her killing her mother may have been something set up after the mother made the deal to save her life. Since the mother was alive, the deal was still active, and the devil couldn't hurt or influence her. After she kills her mother, the deal is done. This is why the devil is able to influence her actions and prevent the gun from firing at the doll. She's no longer safe.

Here’s what I remember: Lee walks in, doesn’t put the chain on. I was like “Girl, put your chain on!” Then we see the door again, and the chain IS on. Then she returns to the door after the knock, and the chain is off, and she puts it on. From that point I knew I was ill-equipped for what was coming.

Not even joking, when I went to see this with a friend, Nic Cage's character made me feels so uncomfortable and violated that I couldn't move from my seat. Scariest part was that I had a guy like that stalk me one time when I went to a Movie theater alone and he reminded me of Longlegs. Creepiest feeling ever. That's shows what range Nic Cage has as an actor. This movie may not be for everyone. But it was worth seeing.

The director said it's called LONGLEGS just because they liked how it sound. And thats it, there's nothing more behind it lol And the silence of the lambs thing was planned by the production just for marketing. They were the ones who put that out there to attract audience and give them the surprise of something very different

I feel like the name still fit for a reason. Like they landed on it for no other reason than it fit thematically. i.e. Daddy longlegs. Lee associating the triangle with dads when shown it during the rapid word association test. Longlegs settling into the father figure of the single mother household. Also, that unsettling opening of, "I've got my long legs on," before he gets down on the child's level. Not that the film is totally analogous to CSA, but there was imagery like locking all those memories away in a tight little ball inside the brain that makes it hard to not see as intentional as one of the themes.

Funny you mention that Longlegs wants to be a metalhead. It’s actually canon that he used to be a glamrock singer before he decided to devote himself to the Devil. There’s even a song NEON marketed as the last song he ever sang before he lost himself completely. And yeah, it’s fucking creepy.

I noticed that in the end, when she goes to shoot the doll, it doesn't work because no one can stop it, not because she's out of bullets. If you look, her gun is a revolver, which has 6 rounds she only shot of 3 leaving 3 more she pulls the trigger 3 more times, and nothing happened, and it's very rare for all 3 of them to be blanks or empty

I wondered about why he called himself Longlegs, too, and after considering it, I think it was a message to Lee. When they first met, he said, "I think I put my long legs on today." All the other clues were a message to her, so I think he called himself that to try and make her remember everything.

Also not knowing why he looked like that unless you've seen interviews or something didn't make sense to me, some backstory would have been nice even if it made the movie longer. This movie was done poorly by the critic and reviewers, saying this is the "scariest movie of the year" is a bit ... unfitting. "The most unsettling/unnerving/eerie movie of the year?" *It fits.* This movie does benefit from a second watch. _Look everywhere._ See a figure in the background for a second? _You might not be hallucinating._ Foreshadowing? _You bet._ Connections to The Exorcist? _You might want to go back to that "Georgetown" line, detectives._ If you see a reason why a character act a certain way, there is a reason behind them. There's a lot to the story and the movie if you dive deep enough and analyze stuff, but on first watch through, most of the people won't get everything figured out. *It is a way more satisfying movie when you go deep dive into it, just like the detective :)* Personally, on the third rewatch and still having new pieces being picked up and connected.

Let me be clear, I did like this movie. That opening is well done and creepy AF!! the lead isn't given enough credit (imo) she was the lead in It Follows and I didn't recognize her despite really liking that movie, I truly felt the burden she was under throughout the film, I didn't like her at first, but I grew to care and that's impressive. Cage can play crazy in his sleep by now, but that shouldn't detract from the fact that he was phenomenal in this film! I just wish I saw it before the hype🫤. I love horror, so perhaps I'm becoming a bit jaded, but while I liked LONGLEGS, I didn't love it and it wasn't scary...TO ME. I think horror and comedy have one thing in common, it's all subjective. What scares me (THE EXORCIST, HEREDITARY, THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS) won't scare everyone and vice versa. I liked this movie, but damn, I really wish I could say I'm someone who loves it☹️.

It's crazy how much Sergio got right about Nick Cage's character. HIs character does have a "background story" of being a rocker and the over excessive use of plastic surgeries which explains the look. @Madmorph Movie Club explains it all in two videos on the movie

Do Hereditary and Midsommar !!! 🎉 Also if you’re looking for something super disturbing (if you haven’t already) Something Strange About the Johnsons. I think that’s the title…

i’m ngl. I watched this full movie because of your reaction. the first 12 minutes of the video had me hooked. Couldn’t wait to watch it. I finished it and honestly i hated it so much. I thought the questions they raised were very interesting and each and every one of them had an awful explanation that had me rolling my eyes

One thing I'm confused about is which murder was meant to complete the inverted triangle? Carrie Anne by jumping off the roof? Or Ruby's family?

Favorite scene in the movie is right at the beginning when her partner is shot at the door. Its so fucking visceral and sudden.

Definitely not the scariest, goriest, or most disturbing horror movie of the year. However it’s a great serial killer movie but I was unnerved quite a bit for the first two acts. Overhyped but thankfully I went in with modest expectations and had I went in with the hype train I probably wouldn’t have liked this movie. Strange how religion has been quite the common element used in horror movies this year lol.

I felt like the ending was a bit poor, I couldn't take it seriously. The whole acting of the family ''hey look we are possessed so we are acting possessed like possessed people do in movies about possessed people.''

@@DadoPanda I mean they are indeed possessed, so I don't know man what else do you want them to do in terms of acting that scene?

@@OVTRA Yes they were possessed so they had them act like kids would when playing possession.

@@candy2325Yeah and this is "possession 101" acting like children, like every cheap show or movie like Charmed would make possessed people act.

Omg I was thinking today I hope you guys react to this movie and lo and behold I see the notification 🥳 super happy. I saw this movie with my boyfriend in theater and it was definitely disturbing. I love love love the cinematography of the movie and that it was shot on film it makes it more gritty. You guys should react to the movie Cuckoo! That’s another movie distributed by Neon that has horror and some mind control in it 😊
