I wasn't necessarily scared while watching, but felt eerie because of the vibes it gave off. The silver ball inside the dolls was explained to be pieces of long legs, and though its a leap, it was said that it allowed him to tell her where to look for things, playing into that cat and mouse game trope. which is why when her doll was destroyed she lost her connection to her “abilities”. is it lazy and one hell of a stretch, yes, but its there atleast lol

@ericdlt114 ай бұрын
You're incorrect about the pyschic ability, or seem to have misunderstood, cause it was used quite frequently. If you watch it again, there is periodically a whisper and wind sound that guides her to something important and this is that ability kicking it. It's also felt more directly anytime she is in close proximity to or in contact with the metallic balls or Longlegs himself where she gets those vivid visions in red. Its implied the psychic powers are a direct result of her doll still being intact.
@eBrEEzY822 күн бұрын
I came here for this comment. You are spot on. While I liked the critique I was like wait a minute, the film DID address this lol. They showed her mother shooting the doll of her for this reason, and the doll's influence on people the entire movie. Also, that connection explained why she seemed to be in a trance all the time, and why she did not remember certain things, but was led to find other things.

I think the “psychic” ability was in relation to long legs being connected to Lee. Each doll he made contained “his essence” …and during his encounter with little Lee and her mother, he mentions he’ll be able to “come and go whenever he wants, as often as he wants”. So, was she psychic…or was she just pulling from the connection with long legs which in turn gave her “psychic” abilities? I think that’s why it wasn’t really brought up again.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. I loved the atmosphere it created, and I was spooked out half the time without there being any obvious reason. I also love to watch a horror movie that has me trying to figure it out right away. I definitely enjoy being surprised by new plots that haven't been played out a million times before. There was some great cinematography. Right from the beginning. Unfortunately, it all just fell flat. Everyone at the theater sat there for a minute when the credits started, and then was like, wtf?? It had so much potential to really be amazing, and the storyline was really interesting , but too many things that weren't explained and rushed through. I also really didn't like the FBI agent. She was really weird acting and awkward, and it just made it unbelievable that she was actually a Fed. Nicholas Cage was amazing and truly frightening. He definitely has a knack for playing a scary, weird, psychopathic character. I wished there was more of him actually in the movie. I feel if they had left the far-out supernatural aspects out, it would've made a more horrifying conclusion that would've left the audience more satisfied. I rate it 1 star for the overall movie. 100 stars for the hype and secrecy of promoting the film. I wouldn't recommend going to the theater, and it's not something I'd watch again. It wasn't ''A Scariest film of the Decade'', But it was definitely an interesting watch, I would definitely recommend it to people who are more into crime/thriller genre, because this is definitely not a horror film. It has horror elements but it wasn't a full blown horror movie from start to finish. There was some unsettling and creepy parts but I never felt truly scared. Nic Cage and Maika Monroe were both great, the actress who plays Lee's mother in the film was fantastic, she was absolutely creepy. But it definitely a type of movie that you need to see twice, it demands that. So I am definitely going to be seeing again but this time alone at home. I just came out of the screening couple of minutes ago, so the movie is very fresh in my mind but I just... I don't know, I need to sit with this movie for a bit and think how I feel about it, because there were stuff I really, really liked and then there were some other stuff that I would put under a question mark. That's why I think it necessary to see it twice. I can say that I think this film should have been either longer or a mini-series, a 1 hour 40 minute runtime is not enough to tell such a story I feel like, there is quite a lot that is left to viewer's imagination, a very ambiguous ending. I don't hate the ending but I do wish we got a conclusion, it felt like we will be getting Longlegs 2 or something... but either way, I can't decide fully on how I feel about this film, I will say I did like it more than I did not like it, but I don't want to go in the details because I am not 100% sure if even the things I did not like I truly don't like you know? But it definitely was an experience that I overall enjoyed but at the same let down by few things, I did feel like it needed to be longer at the very least and the jumpscares were weak... absolutely weak to me. But I will still recommend for anybody to go check it out for yourself, especially like I said before if you are fan of these type of movies (Silence of the Lambs, Seven or Zodiac) then this could be a good time for you. I will say this, this film is definitely also not on par with Silence of the Lambs or Seven in terms of filmmaking, storytelling and etc etc... It definitely pays homage to those films but at the same brings an interesting unique twist to the movie which I did really like. So yeah, go check it out. I feel like this movie is going to be very divisive, some people will love it some people will like it and some will straight out hate it, it definitely a more of A24 type of horror/thriller flick. Also, Nic Cage's performance was definitely something... I did not know how to approach his character... but eventually he did get under my skin but I can see some people straight out laugh at this character because of how ridiculous he is in this. Even I smiled couple of times because Nic Cage was having a lot of fun in this one, oh my oh my... He was chewing every scene, the interrogation scene definitely is going to be a memorable scene from the movie. Gosh, I went on a huge rant.. I need to chill, but at the moment it very hard for me to rate this, I need to wait a bit until I can truly comprehend what I just saw.

On my way home after seeing the movie, I felt the same way and convinced myself that someone might be in the back seat of my truck (half cab). Didn't go away until I turned on the interior light and physically put my arm back there.

Am I the only one that thought it was complete shit ? Watch horror a lot so maybe I'm desensitised. But as soon as I seen it was a 15 rating I thought, can't be much of a horror if a 15 year old can see it. And boy was I right, absolutely fuck all happens in this movie, and I have seen scarier tales from the crypt. But hey, that's just my opinion. Just wish it did not get all this hype.

I have yet to see the film and what intrigues me on your critique about the story is that I see others appreciate the lack of explanation it gives or lack thereof. I guess certain aspects of "less is more" doesn't tickle your fancy, but all is fair in an opinion in the end. Can't wait to see it!

Hiii. I was one of the lucky few that saw the test screenings and also saw the movie in theaters. First things first..- I hear you… from a blind eye this film can come across as “flat” Second: the internal plot is DARK. Third: Nic Cage plays a character that’s a mix of buffalo bill meets pennywise. Conclusion: yes I agree that we needed more nic cage however, less is more. Also- there are many MANY things not mentioned in the final draft of the movie. All in all this is easily an annual rewatch.

That feeling of being ‘scared’ from that movie after watching it is a feeling I’ve been waiting for, for a horror movie for quite a bit tbh

I saw the movie last night, my screening was filled up. I will say I liked the movie, but felt disappointed with parts of the film. I was excited ever since the first teaser came out. I’d give it a 7.2/10.

As a longtime Horror fan, I loved Longlegs. I really appreciated the atmosphere, sound score, and acting. Maika, Nicolas, and Blair acted phenomenally well. For my wife and I who watched it in theaters- 10/10. Highly recommend

Unpopular opinion but the worst thing you can do to a film is draw that shit out to pad the runtime. I thought the pacing was solid for the first 30 min then it just becomes so drawn out with its themes and religious tones to the point where it feels more like an indie art project trying to make u feel a sense of dread with pointless exposition then a cohesive story. By the half way point you know where its going and The characters gave me a migraine.... Malignant did it better with its twist

3:03 I haven’t seen it yet but I’m intrigued… if a horror/thriller movie sticks with you this well after it’s over and your back home, that’s usually what makes a good movie in my opinion. Even tho your review is different then what most people are saying, just having described how it stuck with you and came home with you really peaks my interest to see it more.

I really liked the acting, dialogue, and most of the story, but the last like quarter of the movie really sank it. And they left so much unanswered in an unsatisfying way.

Not seeing Cage is the point! I didn’t need to see him more at all. The story isn’t about him, it’s about Lee. All the great thriller/horror/detective films don’t show their villain for the majority of the film. It makes them more terrifying!
@3CFilms4 ай бұрын
Yet they adandon the hiding the face thing and give him a long monologue runing that immersion that I agree can be affective. But as soon as that’s done he’s gone
@maxgutfreund36504 ай бұрын
@@3CFilms sure, give him his moment. But I don’t want to see more for a longer period of time. I would’ve cut the scene in the market with him and the girl. Don’t have any character not take him as a threat. That’s my only complaint.

Im completely in the dark about this movie, Im fast forwarding to the end just to see what you thought about the movie. The hype is crazy around this, and you aren’t compromised so I look forward to at least knowing what a like minded horror fan thinks. Either way I’m going, but it’s hard to decipher the general consensus.

I’m surprised by how much I loved this movie. I do think the marketing was a little too exaggerated, and I knew a lot of people were going to be left underwhelmed based on what the trailers and everything said, but I really did love it. I work at a theater as a manager, and I’m surprised by how many parents are bringing their kids in to watch this movie, it’s almost fitting

Similar experience. I’ve seen most horror movies this year later in the evening opening weekend and longlegs was by far the most packed crowd. The only other movie I’ve seen this year with as many people was Dune Part 2 which is extremely impressive to me that this many people are coming out to see the movie.
