[Longplay, No Commentary] Total Annihilation: The Core Contingency (PC, 1998) Hard ARM Campaign

The Core Contingency is the first expansion pack for Total Annihilation released in 1998. The story continues a century after ARM's victory over CORE from the original game. The fourth video of this series follows the story from the ARM's perspective as they deal with the CORE's contingency plan.
In addition to a new campaign, the expansion also added a few units for each faction. Some great, some others not so much. For the ARM, it is finally worthwhile to build Adv Kbot Lab to make some of their best units in the game. However, it seems the devs had decided the way to bump up the difficulty in campaign missions was to have the AI throw everything they got at the beginning while you were under-prepared, as foreshadowed in my Krogoth Encounter play-through. While I'm all in for a good challenge, I cannot say I enjoy this sort of frustratingly unfair design. The shortcomings which I have largely overlooked in my earlier videos were there to annoy me throughout my Core Contingency play-through. The ARM missions are still bearable because, well, ARM -- they are the easier faction to play. The same can not be said for the CORE missions. But heck, I've managed to do it for your entertainment, so please enjoy.

tip for meteors/hailstorms: save often and just reload any time theres a bad one that breaks too many things. where they land is random so when you reload it will probably strike somewhere else

Half this campaign only happened because Arm managed to lose the beacon you fought so hard to capture in the first place off-screen.
