Well, it took me about 2 days of riding and stops to figure it all out and in the end of the day now at 7,000 kms on my 2021 Africa Twin DCT, its all working perfectly. I sold my BMW GS last fall after my $28,000 cnd BMW would not start when I stopped for gas, gave me a battery failure warning, I'm about 7 hours from dealer and after 3 new batterys the bike was still not trustworthy at a gas station on a trip, my mates with me had a hell of a good laugh at my account, even had to take a hotel in Edmonton because my Beautiful POS BMW would not start. Anyway, unresolved I sold it and took a bath on it because I told the new owner of the issues I was having with it. My mates run, Yamaha T7, older Kawasaki KLR's and now one T Tiger. Anyway, after reading a lot of posts all over, I'm glad I have a Honda now, everything works and it starts every time, even when its hot outside and bike is heat soaked, seems like a simple request but for me a deal changer, my BMW was such a beautiful POS, I'm glad its tail lights are behind me. Not to mention all the trips to the dealer that never fixed anything with it, other than the front end parts that were replaced due to warranty safety issues. My last Euro bike. Thanks for the video. Last question what is wheelie control , 1 big wheelie, 3 small or visa versa, not that I'm trying to do them anyway, just curious it’s the last thing I don't know from taking delivery of my Africa Twin in May 2021.
@asirrus22 жыл бұрын
Think of it as "wheelie suppression" control. Number 3 will suppress wheelie the most by cutting power to prevent wheel lift. Number 1 will allow the wheel to come up the highest. Hope that helps.

Good effort to explain it. Just to add a few things: 1. Pages toggle switch on top left not only does mobile but also changes screen to Apple Car Play Mode (or Android Auto) when mobile is plugged in via cable. ( I use that a lot to bring up Google Maps and listen to music) 2. You can turn Wheelie Control & Traction Control totally OFF by hold down the decrease selector for about 2 seconds on each of them ... it will go to "0". 3. Try this Honda Simulator to get some practice for those new to bike: powersports.honda.com/legacy/mksa/index.html#agreement

Good review. I’ve seen several Africa twin reviews, always the DCT with everything on it. Please see if you can get your hands on a base model with zero options and a manual transmission and do a comparison. It will probably be like riding a completely different motorcycle.

Great information, I noticed though that when reviewing the manual the power and engine braking settings are the same with level 1 being the most of each, not like you have stated with them being the engine breaking using 3 as the high breaking.

Thanks. I bought a NT1100 2 days ago and this was a big help as the controls are virtually the same.

There is an Africa Twin Multi-Information Display Simulator, but your presentation is a lot more appropriate. Wish you could keep the AT for 30 days. The DCT has a learning curve that usually takes experienced riders a little time to adjust to. It's going from what you expect a motorcycle to do, to knowing what the motorcycle will do.

Are you saying that on the power function 1 is the most power and 7 is the least power?
@cristiantamas3 жыл бұрын
Engine break values are not correct. It’s actually: level 1 has the strongest EB effect and 3 the least (check the manual).
@LongWayHome3 жыл бұрын
Will check. Actually asked the dealer about this….
@cristiantamas3 жыл бұрын
It’s just not intuitive :) When I rode it from the dealer, I asked them to set the least amount of Power, and they put 1 (muahaha), and when I arrived home, I just found out, reading the manual, it was the other way around. Quite a surprise this was.

When a motorcycle instrument arrangement turns into a jet cockpit...and I am still a bit overwhelmed that my black and white thingy now gives me fuel level, temperature and motor temperature. Important to know: you can adjust preload ONLY for the two user modes, not for the Honda supplied riding modes. That does not really make sense…

Not exactly correct. The rear preload can be changed in any mode via the 1 helmet/ 2 helmets/ luggage icons;)

@@asirrus2 Ok. To be exact: According to hit the exact spot you need the user modes. Which, BTW, works really fine for me. I onky hope, Honda would allow us in a firmware update to name the modes.
