Hey guys, I'm the guy who said the seatpost is extremely tight fit. I sanded my seatpost down just a little and now it fits snug but with no issues. It is absolutely a tolerance issue. I have checked the seat tube 3 times to see if there's any burrs like suggested here but for some reason this gentlemen refuses to believe me. I don't make money off of bike building but I have built dozens of bikes over the years from scratch. Never, ever run into this issue before. I have nothing against Look. I didn't spend $6000 on this bike frame to be disappointed. I in fact agree with a lot of the things said in the video. A lot of detail put into Look frames are way above and beyond what I've seen and built by Cannondale, Specialized, BMC, Cervelo, Felt, etc. But I stand by it. My frame and seatpost, for some reason has a tolerance issue. It's not a deal breaker, but it's there. And it's something that shouldn't happen. I'm happy at least that a 5 minute sanding of the non-visible (once installed on frame) part of the seatpost made it so that I can at least get it down to the level it needs to go.

@@robhamp9408 Refreshing to see someone standing up for the customer and not corporations once! I feel like any time I challenge a brand, customers of the brand and people who carry / sell / build the brand for customers come to crucify me. Like I said, I'm not trying to put Look bikes down. Inconsistencies happen with any brand sadly. But let's also not put blindfolds on. Performance differences are another matter. I cringe every time someone's making wild statements on how much better a bike is. I'm a shop owner, and I have the bike you've been testing. I bought the complete build because of availability, but I did ditch the wheels right away. The WS EVO 47mm wheels are narrower than the Essentias. I measured 21mm, which means you wouldn't be putting big tires on it if you care about aerodynamics, but you also can't put narrower tires on it because they would need more pressure, but it's hookless so you don't want to do that either. I commented under a previous video about headset issues. Turns out my brake hoses were too long and they were getting crushed between the headtube and the steerer as I tightened the headset. I had to adjust the my levers all the way in as well, that's due to the silly bar shape that I'm starting to make peace with but I still think it's stupid. it's basically shaped like a track bar, that's why the levers fit funny and the hoods don't sit flush with the tops. I totally forgot about the seatpost not going into the frame when I got it until I saw someone else's comment. I had to sand the corners of the seat tube at the top to make it work, but that took very minimal effort and that's probably why I forgot. I've tested the descending abilities of the bike. It's very stable, maybe a little too stable. I came from a Factor Ostro and a Scott Addict SL and Foil before that, and it takes a little bit more effort to turn it in, and a lot more to flick. I'm going to experiment with staggered tires too see if I can get it to steer quicker. How's availability in the UK? I was told this week that if I ordered more bikes/frames this week, we'd probably be looking at an ETA of March 2024 in the US.
@Mapdec Жыл бұрын
Gald you got that figured out. We are seeing deliveries of March too. I’m ok with bike brands being on the right side of the supply and demand balance.

great to see an extended review and at the end the idea that you might get extended reviews of other bikes to give a better comparison.....would be interested to know what might be the differences when stepping up from something at the 6-8k level
@Mapdec Жыл бұрын
The biggest difference is usualy small details like the handlebar. at 6-8k you dont always get a 1 piece set up. Also wheels tend to be mid range or own brand carbon. Some brands have a lower modulus frame in the lower spec bikes. Specalized and cannondale are quite bad for this.

Whilst I can appreciate that there are 'horses for courses,' rather than spend 10k on a bike like this, I'd encourage fellow cyclists to concentrate much more on taking care of your health and nutrition. The most money I have ever spent on a bike was 2.6k on a Giant TCR Adv 1, and, at the time, I weighed 72 kgs and I didn't pay too much attention to what I was eating, nor other aspects of my well-being. After a scare with my prostate, I changed everything overnight. 8 months later, I am down to 66kgs, look and feel much better, and ride faster and longer on a 12 year old Btwin AF 700 than I did on my TCR. I guess the point I am making is that the average cyclist/roadie does not need to spend bucket loads of cash on a high-end bike in order to improve one's performance.

What a good video! I’m looking to replace by s-works SL6 (56). I’ve had to change the seat post to a zero setback one,to get my saddle to bb short enough and be over the bb pedaling far better, and as result change the stem to 130 from 110. I love the bike, especially for attacking short hills, but lost all confidence descending on it. Do you think a L 795 would solve some of those issues, by having the steeper seat angle and being able to run a shorter stem? I’m convinced by Look - want a fast bike because they’re fun (even on loner rides), but need sometching that will help,a nervous descender.

Thank you. Nervous descending can be due to lots of things other than skill and practise. Having confidence in the bike is the first step, and that comes from a bike being smooth and predictable. Even tiny amounts of movement from a worn wheel bearing or loose spokes will ruin that confidence.

Do the disc brakes squeal like the pro’s bikes?
@Mapdec Жыл бұрын
Sometimes. Sometimes rim brakes sqauel on pro bikes too.

If, or when, i buy another road race bike, it will be this. Out of all the bikes in the tour, this is the one I was most excited about. And no one is talking about it? Besides you. Why is that i wonder.
@Mapdec Жыл бұрын
Because LOOK don’t pay cycling weekly for marketing. They don’t pay us either. We didn’t even get a discount on this bike 😂.

@@Mapdec is a shame, at the same time, if i saw gcn creaming over this bike, it would lessen it a bit i think 🤔
@MW-ud8zp Жыл бұрын
if I was spending that kinda money on a bike it definitely would be this one, not any Trek Spec or Scott.

Any info on the 2021 look 795 blade RS? I'm looking to buy one (I love the look (see what I did there?) Of the swooping top tube) but the geo is confusing. Trying to compare it to my 55 dogma F10 is not working well. How's the ride? Less harsh this new Blade 2? 55 F10 similar more to a medium? My 695 is a L but I can't compare the geo through 99 shoes or bike-geeks

What's the tyre clearance like? Would a wider set of wheels like the Enve 4.5 and a set of 30 or 32's fit well?

Yes. Easily. 34s

If not racing, at 12000$ i would much rather go Titanium something like a Number22 Aurora.

I’m sure we will, when the new one drops.

Excellent video again. Did you say He had a bike fit after buying? Was he generally aware of his set up and stem length?
@Mapdec Жыл бұрын
Oh. We do a final fit before collection to be 100% sure before we cut the steerer and brake hoses.

What's your thoughts on this (or similar LOOK) vs. TIME? In there same category of quality?
@Mapdec Жыл бұрын
Different. Time don’t really have a bike in this category to compare to. Time have an exquisite ride quality. LOOK have exceptional design and build quality.
@simonleeofficial Жыл бұрын
Time brand has been sold 6 times in 30 years, the company is simply not the same. The irony of this bike.. the pedals are the worst part.. I wish the brands were dropped and let the products speak for themselves

And another question, sorry: are you able to remove and add spacers without the hassle of rerouting the cables and rebleeding the brakes etc.?
@Mapdec Жыл бұрын
Yes. I thought I showed this. That fancy top cap allows you to swap spacers.
@foxyobrown Жыл бұрын
@@Mapdec thank you again, the spacers in the video were already on the steerer tube at 5:30 without showing to adding them. Thats why I asked. In my understanding, the fancy top cap doesnt have anything to do with being able to add/remove spacers with installed cables…
@foxyobrown Жыл бұрын
(i am talking about the spacers below the stem, not the once above)
@Mapdec Жыл бұрын
@@foxyobrown yes. Obviously. If you take spacers out, you need to add them above.
@Mapdec Жыл бұрын
@@foxyobrown yeah. It does. Because if you remove some spacers you need to use the top cap with the hole so you can add spacers above it. Otherwise you need to cut the steerer.

Cant find anything on the handlebars. Could you share the available handlebar width options? And is the bike buyable without them?
@Mapdec Жыл бұрын
38 to 46cm and 80mm to 140mm stems. Bikes and frames come pre packed with standard set up, dealers like us can swap out for what you need.

I am curious, if one were to ride the Blade RS for 1h and jump on the Optimum 765 for 1h at the same power how much faster would the Blade be?
@Mapdec Жыл бұрын
assuming that you had the same wind conditions, the same tyres, tyre pressures, frontal aera, clothing, air pressure, and route.... about some %
@ciprian7 Жыл бұрын
I am asking because i have done similar test and the race bike was about 2min faster over 1h(22miles riding) curious what others have experienced. I am a big fan of French bikes, Time is more and more American by the day, i like it even more. Good day and thank you

Sorry, I couldn't work out if you were being serious or not. Sounds like you were. In that case. Sorry, I didn't test it. I don't think I could control variables well enough to give a concise answer.

Some may consider this blasphemy, nonetheless my dream is this beautiful bike built with either ultegra or Dura-Ace... using a flat bar! Could you build such a beauty? Are there flat bar shifters that will work with non-electronic Dura-Ace or ultegra? Does the stem negate the incorporation of a flat bar? Thanks for your wonderful content!
