I have a 2014 Model S 85 here in Norway and it's hands down the best driving experience I've had. Cane complete with unlimited free supercharging and internet connectivity for life, I actually look forward to going on trips. Had to replace the 12v battery which was £120 and then brake pads, pins & springs for the rear parking brakes which came in at £50 for the set. My insurance company covers the main battery, electric motor and associated drive components up to 200,000 km. What's not to love?

Wonderful looking car! But even with the renewed gear surely being out of warranty is a huge risk? When will we see Tesla specialist repairers springing up to take on servicing and fixing Teslas (or other ev's)?
@GoGreenAutos2 жыл бұрын
Places like Cleevely EV in Cheltenham have been looking after Tesla drivers for years. They also offer a nationwide mobile service for repairs and EV servicing. See www.cleevelyev.co.uk/mobile-services/

@@GoGreenAutos thanks Matt, just what I thought was still to come and it's already here. No names but I have the distinct impression that some big franchised dealers are taking on ev servicing with very limited knowledge or kit. And charging quite hefty amounts despite a lot less work than applies to ice cars.
@GoGreenAutos2 жыл бұрын
@@johnfaulkner6776 Yes the big main dealers are hopeless and have a lot to learn when it comes to looking after EV customers. Fortunately we have a great network of EV trained independent garages growing in the UK, see hevra.org.uk/garages.html When your EV needs a service, I would recommend getting the Cleevely EV mobile service out, but book many months in advance.

Great video and looks a lovely early model S. My question relates to Is it normal for the Battery and the Electric motors to fail on the Telsa Model S ? If so how long are they due to last before it fails again only the 2nd time round at the owners expense ? I would like to hear your thoughts or facts on that. ??
@GoGreenAutos2 жыл бұрын
Simple answer is no, but yes on the early 2012-2015 models RWD models with an 85kWh battery pack. They don't 'fail' either. Tesla are constantly innovating and improving the components. They do have an issue with the early 85kWh battery packs and many are getting these swapped out with a remanufactured packs with have the issue engineered out. My understanding is that its not the cells are the issue, but another component in the pack, such as a circuit board which causes the issues. Tesla told me that the remanuactured pack (and later packs) will not have the same issue as it has been engineered out. As for the motors, again they don't 'fail' but just get a slight whine and Tesla have been great at swapping them under warranty, again for a revised design which are better and last longer, as they do in later cars.

@@GoGreenAutos i have seen on a form where a owners remanufactured battery failed after 1.5 years . it was a tesla warranty repair .hope you have better luck . please keep updated.

But 20k battery replacement at any moment... Seeing how many that had a guarantee claim is a bit scary. Like this one, not 80k miles, but already a battery replaced.

It is a helpful video for me as I am seriously considering an older model S. What would be useful would be to include the retail price ;)
@GoGreenAutos2 жыл бұрын
I rarely mention prices as on videos as they are almost immediately irrelevant as the market is changing so much. For example, I've had my own 2014 Model S for only a year now and its worth about £9,000 more than I paid for it. For current pricing, best to do just do a search on Autotrader.

Geoff Harrison.....buy one. I just bought mine 3 weeks ago. 2014 model S 60 with every option including the jump seats, it had 109k miles on it. I REALLY wanted an 85kw battery but my ceiling was 40k US and I was having trouble finding a clean example. I caught my 60 the day it was listed for sale and it was super clean so I jumped. I've put 3k miles + on it in 3 weeks, just got back from a FREE trip to Florida in it. No regrets whatsoever, other then the battery size. An 85 would've allowed me to make the same stops on the Florida trip but I would've been able to drive like I WANTED to with no worries about range. In the 60 I had to stick close to the speed limit on the long trip. Forget whatever else you're considering and get yourself a Model S. Thank me here in the comments when you do!
