8:07 - How did you even manage to come to the conclusion that the degrees you get in Romania are not being "recognized by the west"? Where did you even hear something like that? Romanian universities have been part of the founding members of both the Bologna Process and EHEA. Do you think that the major brain-drain happening in Romania (one of the highest in the EU) is because its universities and faculties aren't being accredited? The preconceptions some people have, damn

Interesting video. I visited Sofia, Bulgaria last year and spoke with people there who lived through Communism and the older generation have the same things to say about Communism, they respected it and want it to return , whereas the younger generation have the opposite views.Hope to visit Bucharest soon.

You cannot just bulldoze overnight all of the concrete flats, just to break it up with the past. Or you can... Before the concrete flats, suburbian Bucharest was a slum. Ferentari, Pajura, Giulești, Pantelimon, Colentina, etc.

I'd love to see more videos of Bucharest. I worked at the US Embassy 1988 and 1989. Left a few months before the revolution. Place was a S#!^ hole. Gas line was usually about 5Km long. Lines for food. People would not look you in the eye walking down the street as they were afraid you were Securitate. Gas and electric would be randomly shut off at night. Old grandmas were used to clear snow from the streets with shovels, brooms, and wheelbarrows. We would be tailed almost everywhere we went. Read the book Red Horizons, Ceaușescu's right hand man defected and wrote it. Hopefully someday I can make it back there.

Bad advise, the book was written in therm of demolish Ceausescu and it's a collection of fakes, Pacepa was a Russian agent sent by the Russians services (KGB) to spred lies in America to accept Ceausescu's replacement as being the biggest enemy of them in the east European block. His lies was also useful for turning the country to the new globalization which demolished the national and nationalistic industry and build glass building for them corporations instead. About the power cut ask the British were was worse in the late 70'th. Everyone has in Europe problems after ww2 but a good propaganda is build on the inherent problems. You know, in terms of gain the dignity, the Jews were staying 40 years in dessert and for all the others the inherent problems are used to give up on the dignity fight and turn to the slavery.

I'm also happy for this, about you, you won't be useful for them. They were so idiots as they even didn't allow the drugs! 😢

Communism was actually decent

What was decent in waiting in line since 3am in cold hoping you will have a chance to receive your ration, having a ration of 0,5 eggs per month, having the electrical power cut off after the journal or having a cold home where the pipes nursed during the winter because the water had frozen in them, having your hands freezing while you try to write something during school hours etc?
