When I looked at the pattern I thought it was so complicated that I wouldn't dare try it but, after viewing your video a few times, I was excited to discover that it is very doable! You demonstrated the pattern perfectly and I could easily see each step you made. I am going to make a throw (just for show more or less) for my daughter. She bought a new grey sofa and I'm going to make the throw in teal. Thank you again - great video.

I wonder if this would work for an adult-size skirt. Seems like it would work well since it doesn't curl and you can join panels easily

I watched the video showing how to cast on. Do I do that just for 1 row and then start the waterfall stitch going from right to left? Sorry if this sounds like a very basic question but I'm very new to loom knitting. Thank you!

love these stitch patterns. I am making samples w different yarns so I can determine which yarns work best before I start a whole blanket. I think it would be beautiful for a baby blanket. If the yarn is very thin can you use 2 strands? Or if it is a baby thick yarn like bernets think yarn almost like a fleece weight is 6 does it work with that type as well?

on the purl stitch, you hold the new wrap on the 'needle' and go under the yard on the peg.... but do you then manually pull the yard that was on the peg over and to the back and then the new yarn is left on the peg? I watch several times but just wanted to make sure.... thank you

lauren luff On the purl drop stitch, you first do a purl (this is a good up close video kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4qpfKGZmZycesk) then wrap around the same peg again moving in the same direction that you start the purl, with the yarn going in front of the peg then around to the back. When you start going back you pull the extra wraps off of all pegs before you do your next row. Does this answer the question?

Would this be a good stitch to use for an infinity scarf? Also, what kind of yarn would you recommend? Do you show how to bind off? Thanks. Looks like a great stitch to use!
@Reesfun10 жыл бұрын
It works a little differently in the round and I find I have to pay much more attention to the method but it will work. I would recommend 50 pegs or more (large gauge). Skip the 3 knits at the end of each row and use this pattern in the round. Row 1: DSK (drop stitch knit) 1, DSP (drop stitch purl) 1, repeat * back to first peg. Row 2: P1,K1, repeat * Repeat to the desired height on your scarf. I use Kristin Mangus' stretchy bind off. Loom Knit: Stretchy Bind Off no crochet or needle I've had one gal make a scarf using two strands of yarn. (see link) I've used it with many different types of yarns, just test what you want to use with a couple of rows. Super fuzzy yarns don't really show the pattern so I would stay away from those. www.pinterest.com/pin/189010515586474902/

Theresa Higby Thank you. I would not be using a round loom, but one like you are showing in your video. I was wondering about the bind off if I was to make an infinity scarf. Also, if there is a particular yarn that is better with this kind of stitch?
@Reesfun10 жыл бұрын
I use these long looms as "round" looms too. Just mark your starting end (I used blue tape) and follow the pattern I gave. I you use my knotted crochet cast on and Kristin Mangus' stretchy bind-off you should be a nice finish on either end that you can stitch together to make an infinity scarf. Good luck. On the waterfall stitch.. Is it just meant for small squares? Can it be extended to a longer version of the stitch, and just knit on the outside, as you did with the smaller squares?

I have a quick question for you...what did you use as your cast on stitch for the waterfall stitch? Did you just do an e wrap stitch and then go into the waterfall stitch?
@Reesfun10 жыл бұрын
It just means that the three knits on either end pegs are to create a flat panel piece instead of working it on a round loom. It will work in the round without those three end peg knits.

@carriezengler761710 жыл бұрын
I see...so when you casted on the rectangular loom you didn't use an e wrap stitch first...you cast on directly with the waterfall stitch. Is that correct?

It's clear that looms are new to you which helps make your videos informative. However, please remove your request that people reference you as the author of this stitch. Giving a very old stitch a new name doesn't mean it's newly invented. I saw this exact stitch demoed on a homemade loom made of brads long before their recent resurgence in popularity. Add a wider rib is a known way add more form to the mesh. See also my comments on your "raindrop" stitch.

+Nancy Rose Black Given the person who demonstrated this stitch is long since departed and it was a time before computers and youtube, that would be exceedingly difficult. She did not claim to invent the stitch either. Since you are interested in the topic, I'm sure your local library could help you find historical references for knitting boards and all the various stitches and their uses.

Just to humor you, here a example of the so-called raindrop stitch published 2 years before this video. Scroll down to "What is lace?" The image is showing the reverse side of the work and it's stretched so the bottom of the "raindrop" appears flat. Again, a well known variation is to add the rib to the mesh to create the so-called waterfall stitch. www.theweddingspecialists.net/lace-wedding-gowns-3.html
