Too many triolgies already. Think Lord of the Rings and the whole Harry Potter franchise. Not to mention all the animated films with multiple sequels.

Hellboy not getting finished sucked. Loved those movies. I always felt if they couldn't have gotten the funding then they should have gotten the cast back together and done a third animated film and finished the story that way. I loved the two animated movies.

The first sinister was amazing. The fact the villain wasn't looked into and explained is actually better- you just see the main character discovering blurred images of his face by examining the videos ... you just knew he was there. The mystery and suspense and creepiness made it so effective. I'd go so far as to remove the scenes that showed his face unblurred in the first movie. That's why noticing he was hiding in a bush in the background of a picture is scarier than having him run towards you out of nowhere.

I just watched both back to back. 2 isn't exactly bad, it just misses the mark. The film tapes were the best part of 1 and 2 ruins them in tone and atmosphere. It also makes no sense that Dylan watches them in the first place, at least Ethan Hawk had a compelling reason to watch them. Also the ending in 2 is one of the worst endings ever, how are they supposed to follow that up?

It doesn't expand the mythology enough for us to feel creeped out. In the first one, we're under the assumption that the masked guy is human until we slowly realize these are supernatural murders. Part 2 didn't have any mystery and focused too much on the family drama rather than the demon itself. The child ghosts weren't even scary because they kept appearing all the time .The only part I felt even a little scared was when they played the Norwegian radio transmissions.

Jesus Agustin So did Sinister 2. 15million to make, generating over 50million. That's a success. A big one, making more than triple your budget. It's Blumhouse's entire business model. You realize how many more vies they produce, or buy for a million or less, that make about 3-6 million? Usually he would do the third for half the budget, so that if it only makes half what the second did, he still generates triple the cost. It's how Blumhouse is so successful, most of the movies are shitty and poorly made, but just so inexpensive that he always makes money. It's the Roger Corman school of film production.
@CorbCorbin
@CorbCorbin 6 жыл бұрын
Dalton Riser Those movies did cost like hundreds of thousands to produce, until they moved away from all home movie footage. But still were so cheaply made that they knew even a 10million dollar domestic Take, would be five times the cost. Sinister 3 would've made them money, he'll probably still do it eventually.

CorbCorbin: I think so too. I'd say it'll at least end as a trilogy. I'd say he's waiting till the negative taste of part 2 washes out. Critics were pretty harsh. I do wonder if Sinister wasn't best left as a stand alone though. It was a neat idea but not really one that easily long term milkable.

It's amazing. I disagree with nearly every point you made. In particular, I thought the way they expanded the mythology in the second film was innovative and engaging. And while the first movie was surprisingly scary, I felt the second topped it and added not one, but two huge twists. Sinister 2 was great. On the other hand, I am happy to call it complete. I also never want to see another Oculus movie.

A good way to do sinister today would be to make sinister 2 no longer cannon and make the new movie take place present day and 2 or 3 more families have been murdered, and it’d start like the first one family moving in maybe they’re poor so that’s why they had to get such a cheap house, and maybe they can still fit in deputy so and so like maybe he’s tried warning the families but they usually think he’s crazy or he’s too late, maybe the horror of this movie will come from the family trying to stay alive by staying in the house for as long as they can, Idk I’m not a writer I’m not a Director but if they ever make another movie I’d like to be able to see the tape from the end of the first movie

I honestly liked Sinister and I thought the sequel was a decent addition. I really liked the characters in the second one and the relationships built. But I really wish the ending were different. Now I do believe these movies have their flaws and even some plot holes, but overall I enjoyed them and the story they revealed. Plus Deputy has to be one of my favorite horror protagonists. He’s logical and relatable. While sometimes his relatability could be seen as a little forced, I really liked him as a character and wish he, Courtney, and Dylan got a happy ending. Although that seems cheesy in horror, I feel it would’ve given me a satisfying conclusion for the series. However, they anticipated for a third movie, which is why the ending is what it is. Thanks for coming to my TEDtalk 😂

I suppose sinister 2 was more on the personal inclination of individual towards being evil. It wasn’t made only to scare people but to convey the message that if you keep your stand firm on not being evil, no powerful force can let you do bad things. But yes if you compare it with first part, it wasn’t scary at all but I still liked second part for the message. Exactly same way I liked Australian movie Babadook on prime. It’s a very beautifully made film on human psychology and at the same time scares you.

It makes me so mad because in my opinion The Conjuring movies aren't scary and if anything boring. Because I started watching them when I was three, not many horror movies scared me. But the whole concept and just everything about the Sinister series just had me in awe and the first one really got under my skin. I mean, yeah, the sequel wasn't NEAR as good as the first one, but it was still pretty good and it still had my attention. Plus it was cool to have a kid's point of view of it, they could've done it better but it was still cool. Hell, as soon as I get the chance I'm buying both movies and I'm hiding them for myself (I tend to hog what I consider really good movies). I just hate that no one else seemed to think that way.

If I'm being honest, I think Blum is over-reacting to this: When have bad reviews ever stopped a movie from getting a sequel? I would love to see a third movie, even just a reboot (which would make more sense) and focusing on other families and expanding the main demon to turn into a very interesting antagonist. .

He didn't just have 1 murder house chain going, he had multiple in case one failed They never acted like this would be the end of him, the priest said it at the beginning that evil can't be defeated. I personally liked the 2nd movie. I’d have to disagree with the fact that Bughuul was a boring character. The idea with not showing his backstory as much was smart. It makes you wonder more about the character and makes you want to piece the character together. That’s what makes Bughuul unique. He is a mystery. Even though we do have a backstory.

I honestly really liked both Sinister movies. Moreover, it was interesting to see the movies' villain through two different settings: first, the unstoppable evil that hunted relentlessly from the victim's perspective, then seeing behind the veil as the investigator who tries to stop him in the second. I was also super invested in the idea of the ham radio being linked to the monster's origins, and was thrilled t the prospect of maybe having the detective try and hunt him down once more after barely escaping with his life to try and get to the source of the being's influence and shut him down for good. I have to admit I was pretty disappointed with the lack of a their movie, because I honestly feel like there was still some interesting threads left to follow. As for the monster not being interesting enough, I feel like the fact that no one knows much about him is what actually makes him so interesting, because with the addition of the information gleaned throughout the second film, it is interesting to try and piece together what he actually is, kind of like how people who haven't read the book may puzzle about Pennywise's true nature after seeing the first film.

sinister 2 was a lot of fun. I like little jokes they throw in and things like that. Also the deputy was my favorite character (in the first one.) He's also in the second movie (as a lead) so these looper people probably didn't see it... or more obviously, banking on it that you don't.

I actually prefered Sinister 2 (2015) more than the first. I enjoyed the first half of Sinister (2012) a lot, but the ending could be seen from a mile away. That's not to say the sequel outdid the first story, but I like Deputy So&so. I could get behind him. It's great to see Scott Derrickson moving up though. I even enjoyed Hellraiser V: Inferno (2000), as much as that sequel does not follow the official Hellraiser series timeline.

I mean if they ever did a Sinister 3 they could've easily made it a prequel exploring Baghuul & the child murderer origins.

Another reason why I think another movie was never made as Because during the second one, all the tapes and recorder were destroyed in the house fire and my officer So & So. Meaning that Baguul can no longer communicate with family’s through tapes and can no longer be seen as all the murder tapes are set ablaze.

The fact we hardly know anything about bughuul makes him all the more scary. It’s the fear of the unknown, the fact we hardly get a good look at him also adds to this effect. When you know everything about the antagonist I.e. their motives, where they come from, their weakness etc it makes them not scary imo.

the second was just too corny and cliché for me to enjoy. i lowkey cringed when the kids acting were trying too hard to be scary with their cheesy lines lol. the only time i found myself feeling the rush the first movie gave me was when the murder tapes played (i disagree with this video, i think the tapes were as brilliant as the first few, though i wish they had more screentime). the scariest part of the whole movie was probably the ending scene where the trio are running from zack and everything goes silent expect for the iconic soundtrack playing while they run through cornstocks. overall i couldn’t take it seriously, its not a bad movie, just missed the mark the first one hit

i have to agree with you about the snuff film part. in the first movie, we’re anticipated yet scared to see what movie hawke is gonna watch the next night. in the 2nd one everything was just rushed, and it honestly took the fun and scare out of watching it. although i will say this movie had a good cliffhanger that we’ll probably never find out.

the first sinister was a great modern horror movie and the payoff was good and scary, a welcome relief from PA,the sequel cant hold a candle to the first and was an average cash in,i say no more sequels you dont want a masterpiece to be over saturated

If they ever make a Sinister 3 movie it should be about some teenagers go in their unexplored attic and find murder tapes which lead to Mr Boogie coming out and start his murdering ritual also everyone is depending on those Teenagers to stop him forever

Usually when a horror sequel underperforms, the next hope for another sequel is straight to video. Which wouldnt be so financially risky for the studio producing it.

The thing about horror films is that there are no rules and no final endings. Just like soap operas in which characters that get killed off can come back to life; horror villains can always find a way to make a come back. I bet in a few years someone will write a blockbuster prequel. Just give it time.
