Thank you, this was very helpful for me. I do enjoy painting sea shells. They are so delicate and intricate but simple, if that makes sense.

This is LOVELY. I adore what you've said about loose style painting. I've been painting for three weeks now and adore the style. I love florals but really love painting fish and really want to be able to do underwater whimsical scenes with loose seaweed and shells and creatures. I figured if flowers can be done loose fish and shells and other beautiful things are also just a brush stroke away. Playing with coy fish and Goldfish already. Just LOVE watercolor. Looks like I need some ink and gel pens too

Hi Katherine the same principles of creating shape and using a large brush would apply to many aspects when creating sea life such as seaweed etc. Its a matter of playfulness and practice.

I love what you said about enjoying the process. As an artist myself, I found that when I focus on the end results I get frustrated with my painting because it doesn’t look like the way I expected. Also big brushes and holding them at the end! that does help a lot to enjoy the process.

It might be worth creating a video about using reference images. I could not show my reference in this video as I was using a selection of images from a stock image site. Images I do not own the rights to. If you want to create your own sea shells then please research images that appeal to you on google or stock image site, as the shells I selected are quite common.

Lovely - yet as a student observer, to be able to see your reference sketch would help for us to follow along instead of just watching you create the watercolor sketch. Would this be possible in future tutorials?

Great suggestion! It might be worth creating a video about using reference images ( I think thats what you mean- as I was not working from a reference sketch) I could not show my reference images in this video as I was using a selection of images from a stock image site. Images I do not own the rights to. Next time I will try to use images from a public domain site.

Thanks Ohn Mar Win, you’ve turned my frustrations at trying to control my painting on its head, and I loved what you said: ‘if you’re not failing, you’re not learning’! I needed to hear that…AND I love the tips about using a large brush (better for my eyes too 😉).

I think the word timid captures my approach to a sketchbook page, using a big brush & shape rather than outline works beautifully in your video.i will try these suggestions along with an old fountain pen i have. Thank you

Hi, I really love your style and the way you paint loosely, it's breathtaking! I have learned so much from your skillshare classes. I am more into loose watercolor landscapes and florals but I want to explore illustrations and patterns more. Could you please give some tips or a course/class/video on how can one start their illustration and patterns journey? :) thank you so much in advance :) P.S. you have inspired me so much for sketchbook explorations that I have started using my year-old sketchbooks now :))
