Germaine Greer has, touched on the subject of "The Last Taboo" which is criticizing old people. All the other victimized groups, in addition to the general populations continue to think nothing about ridiculing and insulting old people, which include middle-aged people, people in their 60's and 70's and elderly people in their 80's and beyond. Shouldn't old people have the same rights, protections and respect as every other so-called victimized demographic in society?

@DAVID-kd3qy So was mine, her father of that generation beat her and her mother. You learn to be passive aggressive when people treat you a certain way.Manipulation is a tactic people learn and who do they learn it from??? Respect has to be earned yes on both sides not just men or just women. Unfortunately not all people work that way.

Young people think social media is god and all on it is the truth, that’s their main problem. You need to listen to people you don’t agree or offended by because later as you mature you may see some of their points are right. You don’t have to live like someone you don’t agree with. Grow up!

When you think about the ignorance and stupidity of the population do we really care about their approval

Sadly, everybody who gets off on the ignorance and stupidity of the population-and who needs their life to run on it (madonna the vile is a perfect example of this for instance, taylor spliff, another) does care about their approval-they're just careful to pretend its their acolytes' opinions and not dictated to by themselves and from themselves.

Germaine has always been a voice that stayed in my peripheral. A feminist who often offers reasonable questions and opinions worth reflecting on. I can remember her from my childhood. But she started this conversation with her perception that “religion made shame”. No. People made that. If people better understood Christ’s teachings, they’d choose to be Christian! She is absolutely correct about the fires, media, politics and free speech. Domestic violence isn’t caused by men. It is caused by cowards! I was raised to respect women in general. Though respect does ultimately, come down to the individual.

So refreshing that she truly does not care what you or I think of her. She is, and has always been, intelligent, articulate and fearless. There should be more people like her in the world, then there would be far less bullsh*t and craven servility, and more vision, courage and dignity.

Students are very intolerant towards everything THEY disagree with. They are entitled to an opinion because they consider themselves far better educated than most of us and they know better. Later, though, if they’re lucky enough to get a job, they have to adapt to the REAL world and learn that their opinions don’t matter; they have to conform; they learn that majority opinion rules. OK?

Tge udea tgar Gernaine doesn't yell at people with the opposite ir different views to hers is the most preposterous statement I have ever heard. It is how she became famous and it is what she has been doing all her life and even here she asserts that traditional views are bigoted and it us good if students have discarded them by the time they leave the indoctrination centre , oh sorry, the university

Problem with most ‘educators’ ‘influencers’ etc, is they speak in absolutes, many a time. Whilst they forget that non of us are arbiters to life… (meet the contradiction in this sentence…) frankly I’m a little done with folk explaining life to me; male or female. I don’t think there’s. Ever been more people explaining to us what we are how and why… yet… how does life all around us seem so chaotic? So directionless? Precisely… it is highly likely that there are in speech, no absolutes… or very very few… take heed… don’t fall for false prophets; prophets of doom. For me, I try keep things small and simple. Gut head and heart, with reflection.

I agree about the evils of religious indoctrination. Just as Greer rebelled against old views it is natural for younger people to rebel, however people should not ban ideas but debate them with reason. Women have freed themselves from traditional roles, it is a shame men have not done the same & continue to be shaped by old values & the expectations of women.

There is no "Death of Free Speech." What Germaine Greer seems to want is the absence of consequences. Even the most appalling people manage to get their views across. Freedom of choice also means that people can not be forced to platform someone whose views they find repugnant. Students have a right to their say in the matter.

People who say such things are people who psychologically need their opinion to be dominant; need their prejudices unquestioned; everything their way and no other way which is counterproductive and they often do it with bullying and cruel forcefulness with little or no understanding of human phycology. If we didn't change/progress we would still support slavery; we would still support men only having the vote. Society changes and no one has ever stopped it changing as no one can. It always has done and always will.

Ms Greer lashes out, I suspect, due to her disappointment that Feminism did not achieve what she had hoped for. The Transgender Community are an easy and vulnerable target, and she shows no compunction about attacking them. But her attack is aimed almost solely at Male to Female transition.
