Yeah, in the first half, I wasn't sure if maybe Bard and Writer would do something that made the others uncomfortable... but as the story played out the Cleric and Gunslinger freaked out about an everyday Discord friendship that I've seen a hundred times. If they are jealous that Bard wasn't hanging out with them as much that is kind of sad this is how they tried to resolve it.

Im thinking one of the three adults might have been attempting to get INTO a relationship with bard. Seperation is a pretty common tactic with grooming, and they were trying way to hard to convince op that the bard was saying things. Im wondering if it was a lie started by one of them, possibly gunslinger since he tried to bring up having screenshots that didnt exist

If this story is true and complete, I think it's clear who is at fault here. I'm a little confused what accusations Gunslinger and Cleric were making. At no point in the story is it clear what Bard or Writer have been doing wrong, according to Gunslinger and Cleric. If Bard and Writer *did* get into a relationship, or one was budding, that would seemingly have been completely fine.

I’m late to this party but when I was a minor with unrestricted internet access I can tell you that this whole rumor-spreading and separation tactic is just a way for the adults to prey on the children. Shaming someone and calling them a “pedo” (despite them also being a minor) might be how that adult subconsciously deflects their own predatory behavior. But after this whole debacle it really does draw attention to these group of adults and I urge people to keep an eye out for similar signs in people that are a part of your group(s).

All else aside, I find it more than a little unsettling that several grown adults were so involved in the love lives of literal minors, that they know over the internet no less. I don't know the full situation of course, so I feel uncomfortable saying definitively who's in the wrong, but that seemed like it could all too easily become an unsafe situation for the minors and was already very emotionally damaging. It's very iffy, because the power balance in any relationship between adults and minors is heavily skewed, including adults' physical ability to more easily regulate their emotions and their larger amount of lived experience. Children experience a full range of emotions and have equal personhood to adults, but many adults seem to forget that. Even so, it's easier for a child to get confused by their emotions or struggle to understand them clearly, and in heated situations full of conflict, it's even more difficult. In addition society sets up the expectation that adults are authority figure that children must obey, and who have the right to discipline. When the adult takes responsibility to have the child's wellbeing as their utmost priority, it is critical for protecting the child and giving them the space to develop, learn, and grow. When an adult is acting only in their own interest, it can too easily lead to a child feeling like they must obey or defer to someone who absolutely does not care about helping them or keeping them safe, and adults automatically assuming that they have the right to use power over a child when they don't. Whenever adults 'ship' minors, it always rubs me the wrong way. Mainly because it is indicating that those adults are viewing those minors in a romantic or sexual light, even if the adult themselves is 'uninterested'. I really don't get the people who look at two babies or toddlers playing together and are like 'aw, they're in love, they're going to get married some day'. Or in a case like this, assuming it's impossible for older children to have platonic friends of differing genders and getting really bothered by it, like they have to force it to be true so they can punish or encourage it, and then get mad when it isn't.

My god the cleric and gunslinger are completely asses and I would not be surprised if they were the actual predatory ones here that they are trying to accuse the poor UNDERAGE CHILD of being. It seems to have continuously been denied and the op’s actual identification being invalidated. I would not be surprised if they were just getting frustrated that they could not groom her because her actual friend was the one she was hanging out with. My god. I love the fact that what appears to be the biggest problem player (IMO the blood hunter, because he brings personal tensions to the table) was the biggest supporter. Op and bard are safe as they may have made a misunderstanding but their relationships are none of anyone else’s business. Even if someone is your childhood best friend they have no say in who you date, they do have a right as your friend to voice their opinion but not to choose for you. The only power cleric and gunslinger had was to watch over you two and either cheer you on or voice their concerns, they should have never tried that intervention like VC. While it is possible for a lesbian to discover their bi and for someone to move on from their ex, unless you are that individual you don’t get to have a vote on how they feel. The very fact you could shut the gunslinger down so easily is proof they were sticking their nose where it don’t belong.

A true "adult" should act as a "peacemaker", not cause strife within the group. While causing mischief & mayhem in game is acceptable, causing it out of game isn't. If someone is giving other members of the group "the creeps" or bullying them while not in game, they should be booted from the group.

The vibe i get is that Bard shared some feelings he was keeping private from Writer because he knew she wasnt interested and liked their friendship. Obviously cleric and gunslinger were completely in the wrong, but I do think that bard may have had a crush on writer which complicated the story. Unless cleric and gunslinger were completely and utterly delusional, which is possible but personally I don't buy. Even with all that said, even if they had a complicated and messy budding relationship that writer denied, so what? They were both minors, so it's not like they were deliberately trying to be child molesters. The only grooming I'm seeing is the childish adults trying to apparently gaslight the two of them into believing something that wasn't gonna happen.

Simple chat in the discord is something that could easily could be looked back upon but voice chats not so much. If the narrator is to be trusted Id say its pretty open and shut. Two players were very angry at the idea that someone else might be happy or in a relationship. I mean I know a guy who worked with a girl for a long time and just assumed they were dating because of it. There are some people who might with very little provocation just assume something was there, that just was not. So if the story is true, Id say bard and narrator were at worst maybe being annoying with over quoting. In my experience anyone who says grow up is usually very insecure about their own maturity, and for good reason with that particular gentleman.

I’m of the belief that adults hanging out with children is a bad idea. Both for the child, and especially for the adult in these days, accusations of grooming, online are very serious and nothing to mess around with. In real life, accusations of being a paedophile or something you need to take very seriously if you’re a guy, I don’t allow anybody below the age of 18 in my games for that pacific reason it’s best for everybody for adults to be with adults and children to be with children.

Cleric and Gunslinger are definitely 100% in the wrong - so much so that I'm surprised they weren't booted after the second incident. Even if writer and Bard were in a relationship, it's not Cleric and Gunslinger's business. And Cleric taking issue with "quote flirting" (which I can't even see how that would be considered flirting) is Cleric's problem, not the writer's. Not only that, but Gunslinger and Cleric claiming that "writer just claimed to be a Lesbian as an excuse" is blatant homophobia. And seriously? Arguing that defending one's self makes you suspicious? What is this, the early Medieval period? Cleric and Gunslinger are the kind of people that almost make me want to support the human extinction movement. Being an adult and being mature are two different things. The only mistake writer made here was even engaging with Gunslinger after Gunslinger tried to restart things. She should have just blocked Gunslinger's ass right then and there. Yeah, I definitely agree that the two problem players likely overanalyzed things because the Writer did make it seem like it was pretty standard stuff. I have had many friends on Discord that I would chat with daily and send custom memes to related to whatever game we were playing. We even had a quotes channel and the "quoting back and forth" thing happens often enough. The two who did it the most in my party were by no means dating each other. I'm glad things worked out for you eventually!

In my opinion, Cleric and gunslinger really had NO business being as hostile as they were. Only thing I can take from it is that they had probably not been easily able to make a connection with Bard before and they were angry that someone was able to do so quickly. That is in no way defending them, but is a possible explanation as a partial outsider to the situation. A am a bit upset that the Blood Hunter didn't try to remain friends with the two, BUUUT I can probably assume they just wanted to leave it at that with it staying on a potentially neutral or good note depending on how it ended after the comforting. All in all, Bard/OP 10/10 you both did right there. Blood hunter and DM. A bit of a 7 there on possible correct things, but I'm not shaming you there. Cleric and gunslinger -10. Being adults doesn't mean you're right. I'm an adult and I KNOW I am wrong like 40% of the time. It could be possible I'm wrong here. But you know what, I don't mind that. I will to my death bed support the two friends that just wanted to be friends.

From the first moment Gunslinger mentioned Bard saying the writer had turned him down, I had a feeling that Bard was the one creating the misunderstanding which lead to Cleric and Gunslinger making a whole fuss about everything. I don't know if Bard was in the wrong, or if Gunslinger is just that thirsty for drama to straight up lie consistently. Then there could also be the situation where it in fact could be Gunslinger is just a mindless sheep and Cleric is the one causing everything (I say this, because something like that has happened to me before), feeding misinformation to Bard and Gunslinger.

Yeah, I seen people make an “out of context” style quotes channel where it’s more a way for people to immortalize some funny quote or group joke. Even in those instances I think it is kind of weird to go back and forth in that channel.
