I can't speak for everyone but I'm sure there are a lot of people like me out there that are washing machine "philes" (I myself am a strange one.. I like listening to old oil fired boilers start up run and stop..) But I stand right next to my washer from start to finish and bought a top load washer with a see through top so I can watch and hear every little thing it does.. Please keep the videos not edited.. If someone else doesn't want to watch parts of the video there is a time bar on KZbin videos and one can easily just skip over the part they don't want to see.. Yes?? But one can't watch a part that's edited and isn't there.. >

I used to sell these when they first came out. The manufacturer sent a glass lid to replace the one on the sales floor and also a small bag of fuzzy white balls that went in the tub. It has a demo mode to let you see it in action. Pretty neat.

The initial fill fills the tub sump and triggers the water level sensor, recirculation starts. Then it fills more to "top-off" the level for what the load absorbs and what's "in the air" during recirculation (which isn't much on this very small load). The initial fill is always through the detergent dispenser. Some cycles (such as Bulky Items) do the second fill through the fresh water spray.

Strong recirculation pump on this washer certainly helps saturate all the clothing regardless of how much you put in it.

Older video but still great.. I actually had this washer back in the mid two thousands.. I loved the technology and it did a great job but, unfortunately it kept breaking down.. They delivered and replaced seven of these machines for me. All of them stopped working after just a couple of weeks. The very first one broke down and jammed during the was cycle the first day I had it. Sadly I had to go with a completely different washer... Great idea but so unpredictable. I found myself having to babysit my washing machine... Was a great idea though and ahead of its time...

I had a cabrio.....got a dinky portable twin tub when it broke. Even with 6 kids and constant washing I preferred the twin tub, probably would have preferred a rock by the river to a cabrio

Well the KQ0 and the KQ1 had the 2 piece pump. the KQ0 had the old U joint design so those broke then Whirlpool worked stuff out but it was too late. The machine has already got a bad reputation so it was discontinued and replaced with something worse what we all know today as the Cabrio.

yes the wash plate is full of raised triangles that scrub the clothes as they make their way around the tub. I still own one and its Awesome

I'm guessing you'd have very major issues if something like a coin got jammed underneath the agitator and jammed it

There are several inches of space between the wash plate and the bottom of the stainless steel basket. A coin won't cause any trouble. It'll either fall through the holes in bottom of the basket into the outer tub and down to the pump sump (if small enough such as a dime) or stay in the basket if too large (such as a quarter). There's a quarter in mine, I can hear it rattle at spin braking.
