Lord Jamar: Mayweather Should've Hired Harvard Tutor

www.vladtv.com - Lord Jamar sat down with VladTV and shared his views on 50 Cent calling out Floyd Mayweather's reading skills, expressing his extreme disappointment in the boxer for not taking his literacy seriously, but putting so much emphasis on his money, cars and other material possessions.
Jamar takes it even deeper, saying we as a nation don't value education and Mayweather is truly a symbol of that. In the end, Jamar would rather have his literacy than all the money in the world, as he believes money is simply an illusion.

People seem to forget Floyd's been a boxer for almost two decades, most people involved in martial arts as an profession for that long are not going to be the most fluent readers out loud. Even with Floyd's great defence, I've seen him take some heavy shots in his past fights. You can clearly see the effect it's had on Floyd in interviews where he pauses mid speech and has trouble remembering things (He usually calls one of his co-workers to remind him)

Jamar contradicted himself on this 1. He already made it clear Floyd can hire a tutor. So if you chose the money you could still learn to read that way too. Not only that but certain books are quite expensive, if you want a serious library you will need a lot of money. Now if you chose the ability to read there is no guarantee you will be able to amass that net worth. So the smart person would take the money, then hire a tutor to learn how to read and write. One of the realest moments in this video is the cribs reference. One of my older friends(in his 50s now) said something similar to what Jamar said. Back when Cribs was one of the popular MTV shows he'd often remark about how he has yet to see one of these entertainers show off a library or collection of books. And like Jamar, he also mentioned the references to Scarface dvds/memorabilia.

So a person that can't read is a multi millionaire.... yet there's no shortage of phd having people, or less, that are standing, back straight, chest out, shoulders back, with debt of all kinds (from that leased luxury car to mortgages plus all else) clean and clear over their heads by several feet. What you do with the knowledge is the most important aspect of attaining it. There are people who know how to read who are flipping burgers; Floyd can't read but he has found his life calling, who do you think is leading a more fulfilling life? Reading is overrated when you're reading for entertainment over substance, which is what most of us do anyway.
