Good evening Paul! Lovely floral introduction, as usual; thank you Mrs. H. TOBS Coconut...oh, I have a tub of that just wanting to be used. I think you have inspired me to use it today. I hear you say it has a good slickness, but the last time I did use it there was a lacking of glide. I don't know, might have been the cap of that razor...the plate was gone. It does smell nice! Thank you for showing the photo of your Father...so nice to see him. He looks fine...my Father was much the same. Always out in the shed fixing something or doing a home improvement project. Both our Fathers would have thought we are wasteful to own such shaving equipment and products. My Father always purchased Used (second hand) vehicles...saying a new car is a waste of money...until he "borrowed" my new truck for two years...then I came home to find him with new vehicles. I think these traits are common. I always appreciate how you explain things, easy understood and it is peer to peer. As you know, I have a lot of vintage William's products...I love the 1960's Aqua Velva...it smell very different from the modern version. The Spanish version is close. The current US made has a whiff of poo in it...to me...YMMV. To Mrs. H and You, having a great evening and take care.
@PaulHFilms7 жыл бұрын
Thank you Todd, never had any slickness issues thankfully with any of the TOBS creams....and our Father's generation were a different breed to these days, make do and mend....my Father would try to make something before he would buy it..lol.....all the best and hope your week has gone well......Paul.
@toddf93217 жыл бұрын
Good afternoon Paul! I did use my TOBS coconut and it was very slick this time out. Whipped it up the the Captain's Choice bowl with an Ever-Ready 1000 Pure Badger, used the 1958 Gillette Red Tip loaded with a late 1960's Wilkinson Sword stainless (2) for a 3 pass BBS. Finished with Thayer's alcohol free unscented and 1960's William's Ice Blue Aqua Velva. Yes, a very PaulH inspired shave. Thanks. My Father grew up in the Great Depression, so he always tried to fashion something before he would buy. They were a different breed. We are lost in their world, they would be baffled by ours. Take care.

Very nice shave! Wonderful photograph of your Father Paul, I'm naturally scruffy and love to putter on projects so he was a man after my own heart. The ivy was a nice touch Mrs. H, my Grandmother had a beautiful ivy on her fridge, and the ivy we have was from a cutting we received from our friend John, who passed away last year. Flowers, plants, and their scents carry memories. Off to shave and decide what soap to use, decisions, decisions! Take care, Ossie

Morning Paul how you doing mate? Hope YOU'RE in great spirits too! great shave by the way, I was disappointed with Taylor of Old Bond Street because I use the coconut shower gel they do and also the grapefruit shower gel they do which they have now stopped making! Why I don't know, but when I telephoned them to order they said that they no longer sell their coconut and grapefruit line in products, so whether or not your shaving cream is now rarer than hens teeth I don't know? So I don't use them as much now. Why do companies do that?! they get a good product it sells then they stop it. Anyway, I'll get off me soapbox! All the best mate 😉 Tony.
@PaulHFilms7 жыл бұрын
Very well thanks Tony, yes it's annoying when they do something well, people like it and buy it, so they stop...lol....it can be a crafty technique too, they stop it, people complain, they bring it back, then it goes through the roof again...not sure what Taylor's will do though.....one of there best soaps that Grapefruit....all the best Tony.....Paul.
