The overhead scenes where the 9 are chasing Arwen - in that V formation - are some of the best cinematography I've ever seen.
@wolpertinger.Ай бұрын
@@jamiehowarth0 it would be a blast to be the stunt rider on that Andalusian. I trained an Andalusian filly once in my serious riding days. She was a breathtakingly beautiful dappled grey, and the power of that horse was incredible. It would have been hair-raising to gallop away from the nine. Man though is she ever holding that horse back. He'd go like snot if she gave him his head. They're such amazing, powerful horses.

The horses of the Nazgul are like the best animal actors of all time here. They look hyper aggressive and are chomping at their bits.
@wolpertinger.Ай бұрын
@@shaunw9092 they have some wicked bits in their mouths which is where a lot of that chomping comes from. Same with Arwen's horse. That horse would go like snot if she let up on the reins and gave him his head, same with the Nazgul's horses. This would have been a very challenging and dangerous scene to film. With all those trees and having to perfectly align the horses like fighter jets at an airshow. It makes sense they're riding with bits that give the riders a lot of leverage and control. Also the reason why Gandalf's stunt rider is god-tier. It's dangerous business riding a bare horse. I only really did that on mine. We were really bonded and in-synch but one day he was sick of my shit and put me in a tree 😅 the horse stunts in this trilogy has me so captivated

Therefore Viggo bought her this horse without asking anything in return as a tribute to her skill and their mutual affection for these amazing animals. He truly is an ispiring actor and person. IMHO Tolkien should have written this scene like this- it would have shown the power of Lúthien lives on in her children- in this case, Arwen. That is perhaps the only change I would make to the book.
@randyhudson87555 ай бұрын
I think they should have given the horse, the REAL hero of this scene, some mild effects, like slight trails coming off his ears and some light blue flames sparking from his hooves, and played the first half of Rush YYZ as the soundtrack. This was the horses scene, not Arwens. That Elvish horse did the heavy lifting.

I think it has something to do with the land she has crossed...I mean for her to be running all the while like she's heading for that crossing and there and then stopping to confront and challenge them, I feel, and may be wrong, I feel there's a power that land has that she could weld...that was why she was heading to that place...I feel she's crossed over to the realm of the Elves by then, and can now summon powers to her aid...cos that part of the river was actually very shallow, the ease with which she crossed it, and why the 9 initially stopped and only moved upon being challenged, I feel it has to do with what the other side where she now stood symbolized. Again, I may be wrong.🤷
