The fact you was so enthusiastic with this record has got me so hype for your Melodrama reaction. Her next one takes everything (her mature songwriting, conceptualizing, epic production, infectious melodies, her fragile vocals and lush harmonies, quality control) to whole other level. Lorde went from already being one of the most promising new artists around to being the voice of a generation after it dropped. Out of the 1000 of albums I've heard, I truly see no flaws with that record. It's also pretty incredible that across two albums, every single track is like a 4/5 at least. I feel like she couldn't make an average song to save her life!

Melodrama is so fire Jon!! I’m a big hip hop and rock and roll guy and I listened to melodrama before I heard Pure Heroine when I was about 18 and it blew me away and I still love it

I was 18 and a freshman in college when this came out and it absolutely changed my life. The simplicity of what she was talking about, the nuanced small problems of teenage life. The fun dumb nights driving/chilling with my hometown friends. The loss of childlike innocence and the feeling that the world wasn’t going to be the same from here on out really stuck with me. This album just became a part of me in a way that not many other albums have ever done. Loved the review man keep it up!

I have never clicked so fast! You are going to love Melodrama. Personally I think Melodrama is her best album. It’s a beautiful exploration into coming of age as a woman and all the emotional turbulence that period of life is. With gorgeous poetic lyrics and experimental music choices. 💜💙
