It’s the Martigny express?😂 Thanks for the quick trip.

Is there an issue with the video? KZbin crashes when I try to play it in the iPadOS app, and just keeps refreshing when I try it in Chrome or Safari.

Are these considered INTER CITY Trains ? or long destination or Both Tourist/Commuter lines?
@lorirocks777 Жыл бұрын
This train type is simply called a Regio, that stops everywhere. You can see a few IC and IR trains passing us though.
@KP-oe8sk Жыл бұрын
Ok Here in Canada (Ontario) We have Commuter trains in Toronto that travel 100KM +/- from Toronto. The rest are for train for travellers . We do not have ELECTRIC train lines exclusive. Our trains are Electric Diesel . How long has Switzerland had ELECTRIC trains ONLY? With guide wires? My guess is 100 years? of Electrified rails? OH LOVE Your channel!!!! @@lorirocks777
@petermangold7524 Жыл бұрын
@@KP-oe8sk Electrification in Switzerland started before WW1. There were electric trains as early as the 1890s. As Switzerland has no domestic coal deposits, coal shortage was a big issue during WW1. As a consequence, the most important main lines were electrified in the 1920s. Complete electrification was achieved during WW2 or short thereafter. However, steam engines were used until 1968 for freight trains. Nowadays you can think of the Swiss rail system as sort of a nationwide, integrated „metro“ system. There are at least hourly, on main lines half-hourly and during rush times quarter-hourly trains between destinations. The timetable is integrated with bus routes and other means of public transport, which makes it very easy to use. Also, tickets are generally valid for a specific time, not a specific train. Which makes it even more convenient. That‘s why in our country of 9 million people, almost 1.5 million passengers are transported by rail - each day!
@KP-oe8sk Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your response! There is a push for electric here in Canada but we do not have the electric wires in place nor the infrastructure !!This will cost trillions of dollars to convert our system? I sort of Knew you had electric Trains since the 19th century!!! All in ALL i Love the content as your country is so Beautiful !! I will keep watching thank you! @@petermangold7524
