If "Into the Hellfire" was the sound of some great beast crawling out of a stygian pit, then "And I Return to Nothingness" is the soundtrack to that same beast, now freed, going on a rampage. I love how the symphonic elements impart an almost sorrowful, haunting quality. I love how the band members use their absurd virtuosity not for empty showboating, but to impart a sense of great urgency and near chaos (are you sure that's not Krakino on drums?). I love how Will employs his vocal mastery. His rapid fire, staccato grunts, lion-like roars, and blood curdling Nazgul shrieks give this monster a voice that is utterly inhuman yet complex and somehow emotionally resonant. Elizabeth barely made it out of "Into the Hellfire " with her sanity, will she survive this musical apocalypse? Well, where there is Will, there's a way.

I love how her immediate reaction when Will opened up was a stank face lmao

That late, high note that you were wondering about... I'm picking it up somewhere in the C#/Db4 range. Just amazing. It has taken me a long time to warm up to Lorna Shore... and to think it's an opera singer (AGAIN) who open's my Child's Eye to the wonder of Will's voice.

If You want more extreme harsh vocals, check Dir En Grey live. Macabre, Hageshisa to or Obscure. Kyo has some great high harsh vocals and very interesting cleans!

His growls are also impressive. Those whistle-register screams he uses are insane.

You are absolutely amazing to watch! My fiancé got me into watching your videos. Lorna Shore is fantastic and Will is doing some amazing stuff for the band! I would love too hear what you have to say about Spencer Sotelo from Periphery

Tongue shape is SO important to these types of vocals. I've been casually practicing these types of vocals for over 10 years now and more and more I've learned that the position of the tongue matters almost as much as the vocal folds.

What always strikes me about the extreme metal that I tend to enjoy is how it almost always gets a physical reaction out of me. Sometimes it's like an adrenaline dump, or I get chills, or I sweat, stuff like that. It's wild to me how visceral it can be

Other great examples in the genre, if you’re willing to explore it more, are Deathwish by Within Destruction, Totem by Signs of the Swarm, Melancholy by Shadow of Intent, Demolisher by Slaughter to Prevail, Divinity by Brand of Sacrifice, Recreant by Chelsea Grin and This is Exile by Whitechapel.

I'd love to see some Infant Annihilator reactions. I feel they were a huge inspiration for a lot of vocalists, but also drummers and guitarists. They were the band that inspired me to start learning harsh vocals

I'm new to your channel and really love how you breakdown and analyze these vocal performances. Just curious if you've ever considered reviewing any of Kate Bush's work- I think your analysis would be fascinating. Again- thank you for your channel 🙏

Hello Elizabeth, could you do a reaction to David Byron of Uriah Heep? He had very interesting quasi-opera and emotional vocals. Uriah Heep itself was kind of a "bridge" between Deep Purple and bands like Queen/Rainbow and Judas Priest/Iron Maiden (Rob Halford took a lot of inspiration from Byron's vocals). They played a combination of hard - art - progressive rock and proto heavy metal with wild organ sound and cool vocal harmonies. For the first listening I recommend one of their hits "July Morning" from 1971 album "Look at Yourself" (studio version is better).

July Morning is definitely a fantastic gem you should listen to, but If interested, you can also check out these songs: - heavy "Gypsy" and energetic "Look At Yourself" - 16-minute orchestral opus "Salisbury" - Fast tempo rock hit "Easy Livin'" - "Bird of Prey" with fascinating vocal performance - Dramatic "The Paradise/The Spell" with beautiful piano, amazing slow guitar solo and great back vocals - Slow metal "Rainbow Demon" with low vocals and melodic folk "The Park" sung fully in high register - And "Return To Fantasy" from Uriah Heep's penultimate album with Byron.
