His daughter and I were friends in private school. We had some sleepovers when we were in 2nd grade. Keith would ad lib songs for us using my name (a very rhymable name lol) and we had such a good time. He was a really sweet and talented person. I’ll never forget him.

Keith definitely deserved this award. Alcohol is a terrible thing. He was taken from us much to young. He was so talented and I had one of his sings played at my wedding. His voice is untouchable. No one can match it. He and Lorrie were such a beautiful match. She is gorgeous and and he was handsome and both had amazing voices. I love you Lorrie. RIP Keith....I will love your music forever.

I remember as a kid growing up, going to the bluegrass festivals and watching Keith and Ricky Staggs as teen agers play in Ralph Stanley's band as a clinch mountain boy. I also remember watching Keith later on in JD Crows band as on of the new South South. Keith got most of his publicity when he got into country music and came out with Miami my Amy, don't close your eyes, when you say nothing at all, I'm no stranger to the rain and so on. Myself, I'm a bluegrass'er, Keith wasn't the type when finished on stage, go straight to the bus and not see him anymore. He would take time to change clothes, then he would go around and hang out with the people at the campers. Loved watching him pick and sing around a camp fire in front of someone's camper. Band members with other bands would come and join in, most of the time. A lot of people never got to see the very best of having fun around Keith Whitley. For me, I can be grateful and consider those times as a blessing. That was the good Ole days

This should have been done a long time ago. I remember when he died he was supposed to perform had tickets and was told last minute that he had passed away very upset we could have gotten our money back but chose to stay and watched a very young new at the business Travis Tritt as the fill in ,he put on an amazing show seeing Keith was my dream to see a show but was not to be.so happy he has finally made it to the hall of fame.i play his music even today. He will never be forgotten.

A week before the Nashville bombing, I was in Nashville and went thru the Hall of Fame. I froze when I got to the Whitley exhibit. It was the largest one at the Hall. Being a huge fan and collector, I thought I had a couple pieces of authentic Whitley that could have gone in that display. Incredible experience, go thru the Hall if you haven't.

I’m so stoked that Keith is in the CMHOF. Long overdue. I’m a nobody but a huge fan of his music. I sing and pick a little, when I sing for folks I always do a Keith song and people tell me that my voice is right their with Keith and Randy Travis. all that crosses my mind when I hear that is to tell folks that Keith Whitley made me the singer I am today. IMHO, Laurie cared very little about Keith. Her man focus was always about her own career. She chose to go out on tour when Keith needed her the most. She's been married 6 times as well as burning through several relationships.

Keith Whitley had a short life. Sad that he just couldn't put down the alcohol. He was found dead on 5/9/1989. On that morning he was fine and sitting in the kitchen drinking coffee. His brother-in-law came by to get him for a day of golf and having lunch. He left to do something and told Whitley to be ready to leave within an hour. Upon returning, he was found unresponsive and his brother-in-law called an ambulance. Cause of death was alcohol poisoning. Whitley was age 34.
