Making the snip in both pieces to attach cloth is so much easier than trying to fold them together! Your rope looks so easy to do. I ended up braiding cloth together to make a rug, but I'm going to take it all apart and redo it your way and remake the rug! Thank you so much for this tutorial!!!

I have made crochet rugs, back in the 90's with strips of fabric before, but WOW does that take strong forearm muscles after the first few rounds. THIS method is so much better!!! LOVE THIS!!!! Thanks for sharing.

I sew pillowcases for charity and have a lot of salvage strips after I square off the pillowcases. The strips are thinner so I braid them together and do the same on the sewing machine. I love the look of the finished items. Thanks for sharing.

YES!!! This is something I can join in and not have to have any kind of cutting machine. LOL. One day I hope to have a Cricut. Now I need to acquire more fabric to have more scraps from other projects. Just getting started is fun because there are so many things to do. I've wanted to do a quilt for years but I guess it wasn't the right time. Now I finally start but at a much later age. It's all good. 💗😊💗

Lorrie ,Lorrie, Lorrie this tutorial is wonderful. I love this because I'm an antique and vintage type of lady. I made this rope for a vintage headboard using the colors I wanted. After I finished the rope, I twisted some Dollar Tree bling ribbon around it and it looks amazing. Thank you so much for sharing.

At the end I would cut the night off and reach through with her crochet needle and grab that end and pull out in through a couple previous stitches or circles or twist and then do my stitching you wouldn’t even be able to tell where that ended if you did it that way leaving the night on there makes a drop off

HOW FUN! GOOD JOB Abby! I'm gonna make one for my outdoor round table for a table top!! Love the snip- slip- knot -add on!!😃. Then I can leave it on the table when it rains or easy wash. I think it will be heavy enough not to fly away or maybe insert some ties underneath. Thank you.

LOL!!! Oh my godness- this is practically my HAIR routine!!! Minus the sewing of course. Seriously, I rope braid my hair into pigtails on the days that I wash it, let it air dry, and take the rope braids out- it tames my natural curls and waves, and eliminates the need for heat styling... I guess I could learn to make a coaster next! 🤣 Awesome video! 😊❤👍

@@rachelperkins9721 oh yeah, for sure Rachel, the rope braids totally works wonders in hair!!! Gives it shape, hold, and smoothness, and without using any heat! The rope braided pigtails also ensure that you have noce spirals, and not crunky crinkly crimps like regular braids would do to the hair lol

I learned another method to do basically the same thing, but I think it's easier on the fingers: Wrap the cloth strips [flat] around clothesline cording (or whatever size you'd like from hardware or fabric store), then zig-zag stitch to form flat or bowl-shaped items. You wrap as you sew so no special joining. I learned this in a Bernina sewing machine class. Enjoyed learning your method. Interestingly, I notice your sewing machine progression has been the same as mine (Singer->Janome,->Bernina)! Would enjoy a video tour of your new craft room.

That is amazing. I have alot of fabric just sitting in my closet, cause I can't sew any more. So if we don't a sewing machine I guess we can sew it by hand also right. It would be nice to make a bunch of coasters. I had some but little by little they disappeared. You know you can also make some to put your hot plates or pans. I've got a rope I'm working on but I'm doing a simple 3 strand braid and I'd sewn my strips together. Then I got a board from the hubs shop and put a cup hook at one end making a board to hold the knot by looping it over the cup hook. (a nail or screw could work, too). I like your twisting method, that's different and I'd like to try it as well.

I love this. I tried to use old t-shirt scraps to crochet a rug but I wasn’t happy with the results. The knots joining pieces were too big. The making snips and join would resolve that. I like the idea of making the rope and then crocheting the rug.

Very fun. I find it hard to keep my rope the same all the way down sometimes it looks really good and sometimes it looks really bad and not twisted enough. I also find it really hard to coordinate holding it in my hand. I’m using a clipboard. Not bad for my first try but nothing wonderful. Thanks for your tutorial I will try again.
