I'm taking your challenge! I'm 75 and have just a few days ago started keto diet to lower blood sugar and lose weight. I'm surprised that I already feel better and am losing weight. So far, I haven't really been hungry between meals. I agree that it's easier to just decide not to snack, rather than give yourself permission to visit the pantry where dangers lurk.

Hi Pam, I too am 75 and in the foothills of intermittent fasting and a low carbohydrate diet. Like you I am not finding it as difficult as I thought it would be. Two things have suprised me, initially my blood sugars went up and I didn't experience any weight loss until 2 weeks in. I have type 2 diabetes and lowering my blood sugar is the main aim of this venture. Good luck with your diet. Carol UK

I love this video because if you look at old photos from the 60s and 70s everyone was thin because we ate 3 meals a day with no snacks. I remember maybe having an apple on occasion but that was it. I am excited to do this challenge. Thank you Dr. Becky!

Logically it makes sense. And I have been trying. The problem isn’t being hungry, eating better is definitely filling. It’s the emotional struggle. Like I’m full but not happy. I know that’s the addiction talking. But I keep coming back to “what’s the point of living longer if you’re not happy”?

Thank you so much for sharing all of your knowledge and helping so many of us get our weight and diabetes under control. I had been fasting since January, cutting out all sugar and losing 23 pounds in the process (so far). As a "reward" we got a Starbucks Frappuccino and a cookie on Saturday, and the sugar from those 2 things really did a number on me! I felt sluggish and really hungry for the next 3 days straight. I am finally getting over that constantly hungry feeling and I never want to feel that way again! I am done with sugar :D Looking forward to your challenge! Thanks for all of your informative videos. Good luck to everyone!

Approximately, 20 years ago I heard some of the worst advice ever from a medical doctor. She advocated eating 5-6 times per day to maintain energy. Due to a stressful life and work schedule I gained weight, and couldn't lose it. Then in late 2021 I happened across a keto video, and started to try intermittent fasting. It really works! I've now lost almost 50 pounds by eliminating most snacking. Thanks to Dr. Becky and other who promote keto!

Love love love your videos❤ - your ideas are healthy and honest! We are in our 70s and know we MUST change our eating habits. However… we do miss bread! 🙄 Many respected keto/low carb sites use psyllium husks, xanthum gum, almond & coconut flours to make keto tortillas, breads, etc. We are off sugar (that was hard!) and do not want to use sugar substitutes. BUT are these “bread” substitutes options or should we shun all “breads” as well❓❓❓

The problem is that eating low carb diet consistently is hard in a social setting with friends and family therefore its not suststainable in the long run.
@heidireynolds5598
@heidireynolds5598 Жыл бұрын
Not too hard, really. Just eat the protein & non-starchy veggies, and skip the bread, potatoes, chips, etc…Offer to bring a healthy side dish if your family/friends do not cook/eat healthy. And almost all restaurants offer a salad & you can add some protein to it. Charcuterie boards are great- just eat the cheese/salami/nuts/olives, and skip the crackers.

Hello Dr. Becky. I'm a regular viewer of your videos. I usually eat Keto OMAD at 2:00 to 3:00 pm and my glucose avarages 110 for the whole day, it is always between 90 and 120, usually never falls below 90!!! My OMAD meal consists of leafy greens: Broccoli, Spinach, mushrooms, arugula; Lean Meat, Chicken Breast, Chicken Liver and 3 Eggs. My HbA1C is 5.5, so I am not diabetic , but am surprised why my glocose reading usually never falls to 80 even before eating my OMAD lunch. So, I put on the FreeStyle Lebre 2 CGM to see what is happening and decided to see what will happen if I ate Honey, which I never do, I was surprised. If I took 2 tsps of honey at 7:00 pm, my glucose readings, after rising up to 170, falls down rapidly to bellow 60 and sometimes reaches 54! Then goes back to my regular avarage of 110! What is happening?!

I just purchased the Splenda brand of allulose and was quite surprised to read on the label that it has 8 g of carbs in just 2 teaspoons! Yikes! I was planning to use it sparingly, following your advice to try to retrain my palate away from sweet tastes, but this makes me wonder whether I should use it at all. What do you advise?

You may want to try something I use called Sucradrops. They are pure sucralose (Splenda), but without the fillers like maltodextrin found in the powder version. One drop = 1 tsp of sweetener. It is truly 0 carbs.

Question. I need to lose weight mainly because my family medical history is not the greatest. I am new to menopause and the belly fat is so annoying! I want to do keto BUT I am not a huge fan of meat. I will eat ham, turkey breast and chicken breast, all in small portions. I will also eat ground burger at times. I also HATE seafood. How does someone like me do keto or low carb when I don’t eat much meat?

I eat a pretty big breakfast and a decent size dinner my lunch however because I'm working at that time is usually just a quarter cup of nuts, a celery stick or two or a few carrot stick and maybe a few pork rinds,I wonder if this is considered snacking, but I noticed that when I skipped having lunch altogether the next day I'll gain 3 pounds, so the next day I'll have my snack lunch again and the very next day I'll lose the 3 pounds I gained, is like intermittent fasting doesn't work for me.

Love your channel but awhile ago you suggested 2 books, Eat Fat Get Thin,Fat for Fuel. These books are not for regular people and their families. They are unbelievably undoable. I’d like a book,cookbook with regular items to make food families can eat. Bee pollen, shark, duck, marlin, the list goes on and on of VERY expensive, awful tasting list of foods are crazy. I like things you usually suggest but these two books are awful. Do you really eat like these books suggest? I’d lose weight because I’d starve to death. This lifestyle has to be doable. These books are not!
